Wonder Woman 1984 (2020)
Ridiculous Movie
As others have written, this movie is just ridiculous. Plot was very predictable and the action scenes were over the top unbelievable. Nothing suspenseful or exciting. I kept thinking it would get better as it had to, right? Nope. This was one of the worst super hero movies I have ever saw.
I really liked the first Wonder Woman and her character in The Justice League but this was just bad. They must have been trying to capture some of the ridiculous depiction of her in the original Wonder Woman TV Show.
A Nightmare on Elm Street (2010)
Nothing new here
I went to see the original back in 84 when I was 16 years old. That movie had a lasting effect on me which is why at 42 I was very excited to see this remake. The title of this review says it all. Nothing new, nothing at all. I thought midway through *** Spoiler Alert *** that they may put in an exciting twist, Freddy may have been innocent??? But no, this was just the basic story about Freddy and the kids. It didn't even have any 21st century sex/nudity/drug use scenes that make many of today's horror flicks fun. Then we have Freddy, we all knew that no remake could capture the essence of the original master and therefore this one didn't even try. He wasn't funny at all he was very serious and didn't show off while torturing his victims. In the end I was just hoping it would get over with so I could enjoy the rest of the weekend.
The Texas Chainsaw Massacre (2003)
Killer Slasher Flick
If you like slasher flicks, and only if you like slasher flicks, you will love this movie. I saw the original and wasn't expecting much but this kept me on the edge of my seat. I thought this was as well done as a remake could be.
Kill Bill: Vol. 1 (2003)
Leaving out details doesn't make it a good movie
With so many people rating this movie so highly, I decided I needed to see it. Boy was I disappointed. This movie is nothing but a big budget Samarai movie. Oh wait, to make it interesting, they leave out many details of the plot and the movie ends with "to be continued."
Imagine if you hadn't read Lord of the Rings, and when you saw The Fellowship of the Ring, they didn't let you know what Frodo's quest was. All they showed was fighting and the movie ended with Frodo continuing his journey.
The only story line is: Why did they almost kill her in the first place? I for one am not going to be around to find out.
The Rookie (2002)
Only for baseball lovers
Big baseball fan here, I always believed that I had what it took to make it to the Big Leagues. I never made it, of course. That being said, this movie was too slow and drawn out. If you love the game and have always dreamed of playing professional ball, this is a must see. However, if you are a casual fan, read the story about Jimmy Morris, the true story about never giving up on a dream is worth a look. The movie, well.............
Cast Away (2000)
Still Waiting
I really enjoy Tom Hanks films and was eager to see this one, however, I am still waiting for something to happen. That is the only way I can describe this movie. We all know from the trailer and the title that Tom is marooned on an Island and this story is about how he dealt with it and how he deals with life when he finally comes back. Well having seen the movie, I still feel I cannot answer those questions. They showed how life was tough and that is it. It was tough on the island and it was tough when he got back. That is how it ended. I was waiting for something significant to happen 2:20 into the movie. Maybe in return to cast away Island? ha ha
