The Maidens' Conspiracy (2006)

Nothing except Costumes

I have looked for a long time for this movie. But a great disappointment. Story has nothing with historical facts. Acting is terrible. During war scenes it is not possible to understand what is happening. Beauty of Esther Nubiola doesn't help to much. OK, costumes are very nice but not according to the tradition of that time.This movie can be much shorter then 122 minutes. I accept that a movie is not a history book, facts can be changed according to the point of the director but there should be a respect to the history. Or at the beginning it should be clearly indicated that the facts have nothing to do with the history. Movie is based on a story of 15th century but it is shot in 21th century. The director has forgotten this .

Red Sands (2009)

Surprisingly good

Afganisthan war has introduced a new figure to cinema : Djinn. In the past ,"Wish Master" was also a djinn story but mostly a teenage movie. Solders alone in an unknown country, meeting a very different culture, traditions will give many material for movies. This picture is well made, moderate gore, but dark or yellowish scenes create a wonderful atmosphere. Acting is acceptable. Scenario is good when compared with The Objective (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0962711/). End is not confusing. Dialogues are very clean. Thrilling atmosphere is always at a certain level. Effects are very good.To tell the truth I didn't expected such a movie when I touched play button of my player. Highly recommended . 7 points.

Grindhouse (2007)

A movie if you have nothing else to do

Quentin Tarantino & Robert Rodriguez have created a picture just for entertainment. "Planet Earth" is a version of "Living dead" created by George Romero. A mixture of living deads and Rambo. Deathproof is a story of a highway maniac with boring , nonsense dialogs. After Kill Bill the fall of Tarantino continues. Be ready to see blood, deformed humans, legs, hands, heads, eyes .. Girls are nice but decorative objects only.Especially the long dialogs of Deathproof look like that the director has paid attention only to the length of the movie. Maybe these comments are very hard before watching Werewolf Women of the SS ,Thanksgiving segments but the way of these directors shows not a sign of a better picture. Recommended only to B movie fans.

The Magician (2006)

I am not a fanatic of Cem Yilmaz

This movie is underrated in Turkey because the expectation of most people is to watch a comedy of Cem's way ....... and they get disappointed.A real figure with plans, problems like all common people. Speaks, laughs, acts in a normal way. Not a super hero.A loser. This picture can be considered as a perfect work when compared with former works of Yilmaz. His partner are well selected. especially Mazhar Alanson proofs his wonderful talent as an actor. He is very well known as singer and becomes a great actor as old as he gets. But as far as I see Cem has reached the limit of his talent as an actor. In any way staying at such a level will be a great presence in Turkish Movie world. Congratulations Cem.

This movie coming from Turkey where you can't find any tradition of horror movies. First I was afraid of watching just an adaptation but after seeing it I have changed my mind. It has original scenario.A love movie using horror thema. Most of the players are not famous young people but their performance is proofing that a new generation is coming. Maybe this is a sign that turkish cinema is coming back after 20 years.

Michael Myer is back

We have learnt this killer 24 yours ago and John Carpenter's legendary character is still alive. There is no way to kill him. Today nobody seeks him like Dr. Samuel (Donald Pleasance). In this movie Laurie Strode (Jamie Lee Curtis) has left the story also. The legend will continue. However, hunting young generation equipped with internet,palmtops, webcams.. is much harder work than Myer used to in the past. Halloween fanatics will find everything in this picture.

Mel Gibson's carrier has started with Mad Max as a hero 23 years ago.After playing different characters now he is an ex-priest fighting against invaders coming from space. It is a long movie , sometimes boring.The story is not convincing. Just for Mel Gibson fanatics.

This film is just an addition to George Romero's "Night of the Living Dead" trilogy. Maybe more dark, more blood, more technology, but indeed showing nothing new to Romero fans. Some scenes taken from Alien series. But in any case worth to see it.

Land and Freedom (1995)

a drama of civil war

This movie is based on George Orwell's "Homage to Catalonia". There is no reference.Therefore watching this movie is like reading a book. There is not information on the organisations, and what's happening. I think only a few people can follow the events and understand the discussions. The director thinks that everybody is an expert on spanish civil war. But anyway go and watch it and learn the meaning of war what is the most important point.
