Liane Moriarty has made her way back to the screen with another hit show adapted from one of her best-selling novels. Following 2017’s “Big Little Lies,” Hulu’s “Nine Perfect Strangers” premiered on Aug. 18 with three buzzy episodes.
The series, which stars Nicole Kidman, Melissa McCarthy, Michael Shannon, Bobby Cannavale and Regina Hall, takes place in a tropical wellness resort where an eerie retreat leader promises nine broken strangers (none of which know each other) that they’ll leave happier than they came. But it soon becomes clear that she has a plan for them that none of them could have expected.
The episodes will continue dropping on Hulu every week through Sept.

Exclusive: Liane Moriarty, the author behind HBO’s Big Little Lies and Hulu’s upcoming Nine Perfect Strangers, is set to have another of her books make it to the small screen.
Heyday Television, a joint venture between Harry Potter and Once Upon a Time… In Hollywood producer David Heyman and NBCUniversal International Studios, has secured the rights to upcoming book Apples Never Fall in a highly competitive situation.
Deadline understands that Heyman won out over a number of other interested parties, unsurprising given the television business’ interest in adapting Moriarty’s stories.
The novel, which will be published worldwide on September 14 by Henry Holt in the U.S. and Penguin Michael Joseph in the UK, centers on the Delaneys, who from the outside appear to be an enviably contented family. Former tennis coaches Joy and Stan are parents to four adult children. But unfortunately, Joy disappears, and her children...

During the 60s, and while still under martial law, Taiwan was caught in an identity crisis between Japan, China and the West, which was also mirrored at the cinema of the era. “The Husband’s Secrets” highlights the fact in the most eloquent way through a rather melodramatic story.
“The Husband’s Secrets” is screening at Taiwan Film Festival Edinburgh
Siu-gi and his wife Tshiu-bi are a highly bourgeois couple married happily, with the only issue they seemingly face being the lack of children. Tshiu-bi has a friend, Le-hun who is as unlucky as possible, having to raise her son on her own, while living in a room of a family where the husband is a drunk. Tshiu-bi is touched by her friend’s problems and tries to help her any way she can, even taking her in her house, after the girl is kicked out from the place she lived,...

There are a whole host of films bubbling around the virtual Cannes Market at the moment, one, in particular, will see the likes of Richard Gere, Diane Keaton, Blake Lively and Lin-Manuel Miranda team up to star in the romantic comedy ‘The Making Of’.
Written and produced by Ed Zwick and Marshall Herskovitz, the story focuses on two couples: long-married filmmakers (Gere and Keaton) have cast overemotional actors (Blake Lively and Lin-Manuel Miranda) to portray their younger selves in the story of their great love. Unfortunately, by the time shooting begins, their fabled marriage is unravelling. The filmmakers want to make a hit; the actors want to tell the true story. Whose version really is the truth? And how do they distinguish between real love and movie love when their lives and their work become hopelessly intertwined?
Gere and Keaton have previously worked together before, back in 1977 they starred in...

I am so happy to hear that HBO's award-winning show Big Little Lies is coming back for another season! As much as fans wanted another season, we knew the show was first slated as a limited series, as it followed a novel by the talented Liane Moriarty. We figured that once the story in the book was over, the story on screen would have to follow suit. But after the series gained such a huge following, won 8 Emmy's, and was nominated for 6 Golden Globes (which will air on January 7, 2018), the network and those involved couldn't deny what they had.
