Auteur Anurag Kashyap, who is known for cult-classics like ‘Black Friday’, ‘Gangs of Wasseypur’, ‘Ugly’ and others, seems to have been hurt by a close friend.
On Wednesday, the filmmaker took to the Stories section of his Instagram as he re-shared a text from an Instagram page. The post talks about setting boundaries in friendship.
The post read, “The only people who get upset when you set the boundaries are the ones who benefited from you having none.”
Earlier, Kashyap had shared a similar post talking about “low-maintenance” friendships.
Taking to his Instagram Story, the director shared a video with the text that read: “As you get older, you realise only low-maintenance friendships will survive. Salaar Box Office Collection Day 1 Might Be 10.6 Times More Than Prabhas’ 1st Opening Day ( Photo Credit – YouTube )
Prabhas is ready with his Prashanth Neel film, Salaar Part 1: The Ceasefire, which will clash with Dunki at the box office without the opening days. While Shah Rukh Khan starts a day early, Prabhas’ film arrives a day late. It is expected that Salaar might open in the range of 70+ crore, beating Shah Rukh Khan‘s Jawan’s opening number. If Prabhas lives up to the hysteria, then the film might also touch the 100-crore mark on the opening day.
The film is also expected to bring in great numbers at the Hindi box office owing to the buzz and the history Prashanth Neel and Prabhas have. It is a justified reason to expect that the film might bring a phenomenal opening number at the box office, as high as 10 times more than Baahubali’s opening!

With Sam Bahadur Box Office & Animal Box Office Collection Day 1, Ranbir Kapoor & Vicky Kaushal Achieved A Rare Feat. ( Photo Credit – YouTube )
Ranbir Kapoor and Vicky Kaushal have clashed with Animal and Sam Bahadur on December 1. The results of this clash were obvious – Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s film collected 63.80 crore on the first day of its release. On the other hand, Meghna Gulzar’s war drama registered 6.25 crore on day 1.
However, both the superstars just created a box office trivia of sorts with the first-day collection of this clash. To offer a little context, interestingly, the first film of both of these stars’ careers had to face clashes! Ranbir Kapoor made his debut with Saawariya in 2007.
Helmed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali, Saawariya clashed with Om Shanti Om at the box office. This was a superstar clash. Ranbir Kapoor collected 3 crore on the first day, and the film earned only 23.67 crore at the Box Office in total.

Animal Movie Review Rating:
Star Cast: Ranbir Kapoor , Anil Kapoor, Bobby Deol, Rashmika Mandanna, Tripti Dimri, Charu Shankar, Babloo Prithiveeraj, Saurabh Sachdeva, Prem Chopra
Director: Sandeep Reddy Vanga
Animal Movie Review Out! (Picture Credit: T-Series/Youtube)
What’s Good: Ranbir Kapoor putting everything in, but for what? The interval block could be a separate short film, and I would surely hoot for that one
What’s Bad: Everything you thought was bad in Arjun Reddy/Kabir Singh it’s worse here
Loo Break: There should be a competition among friends of who can sit through this almost three-and-a-half-hour film without taking a loo break, and that would have an interesting outcome than this film
Watch or Not?: Only and only if you can leave the cinema hall after the first half
Language: Hindi

Animal Box Office Collection Day 1: Ready To Earn 16.6 Times Higher Than Ranbir Kapoor’s 1st Opening Day! (Picture Credit: IMDb)
Ranbir Kapoor has finally unleashed his beast mode with Animal. Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s film opened in the theaters with a roaring start. Well, of course, it was expected since the superstar is making people witness a totally new side with the gangster drama. The film is expected to open in the range of 48 – 50 crore and the morning occupancy has reassured this number.
However, while Rk is ready for a re-birth of sorts at the Box Office, we traveled back to the time when it was his first day at the box office. The day people were excited to see Raj Kapoor’s grandson on screen, November 9, 2007.
Everyone had already seen the glimpse from the trailers, and when Ranbir Kapoor promoted his first film Saawariya, it was a hysteria.

Shah Rukh Khan has delivered two blockbusters this year – Pathaan and Jawan, channeling his rough, macho side, the actor is getting ready with Dunki, a Rajkumar Hirani film, which goes easy on the action and highlights the drama.
Dunki seems like a breath of fresh air already amidst all the chest-thumping this year, starting right from Yash Raj Films’ Pathaan, followed by Gadar 2, Jawan, and Tiger 3. The streak will continue further with Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s Animal featuring Ranbir Kapoor.

Composer and singer Amit Trivedi shared that the music album of 2015 film ‘Bombay Velvet’, which turned out to be a disaster at the box-office, is his personal favourite and that it broke his heart when he did not get any result.
Talking about the music of ‘Bombay Velvet’ being underrated, Trivedi told : “It’s my personal favourite when I was making it, and once it was done I was sitting at home and one fine day as I was scrolling through the album listening to it much before it was released, I remember talking to myself ‘bro you have killed it’. It’s amazing. It sounds great but … whatever film had its fate because it is part of a film right.”
He said that with the film’s fate, the efforts made for the music washed away too.
“There are a lot of energies… and film’s come with their own fate.

New Delhi, Aug 30 (Ians) She has belted out hits such as ‘Ishq wala love’ from ‘Student of the Year’, ‘Nazar Laaye’ from ‘Raanjhanaa’ and ‘Meri Jaan’ from ‘Gangubai Kathiawadi’ to name a few. However, singer Neeti Mohan has revealed her lowest point in her career.
Neeti said that singing for Ranbir Kapoor, Anushka Sharma and Karan Johar-starrer 2015 film ‘Bombay Velvet’ was the lowest point because she feels those tracks never got heard.
Directed by Anurag Kashyap, the film is based on historian Gyan Prakash’s book ‘Mumbai Fables’. It also stars Kay Kay Menon, Manish Choudhary, Vivaan Shah and Siddhartha Basu.
Speaking to Ians, Neeti opened up about the low point in her career: “I think it was when I was the voice of the film ‘Bombay Velvet’. I felt that these songs never get heard. They were so interestingly recorded, and there are so many exciting stories we have for each song.

Karan Johar is one of those directors whose name is an adjective. Throughout his 25-year career as a filmmaker, perhaps one of the harshest critiques he’s read of his work is “That’s very Karan Johar.”
“I feel like I read, ‘Oh, this is so dramatic, but that’s very Karan Johar. … ‘Oh, this is so melodramatic. That’s so very Karan Johar.’ … ‘This is a world that you can’t believe, but that’s very Karan Johar,'” Johar told IndieWire during a recent Zoom interview on the heels of his latest directorial release, “Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani.” “I’ve read, of course, a lot of great things as well, and I’m very grateful for that, but I’ve also had some really nasty things about my filmmaking. You get slotted into a genre, right?”

Vicky Kaushal Revealed as Titular DJ in Anurag Kashyap’s ‘Almost Pyaar with DJ Mohabbat’ (Exclusive)
Bollywood star Vicky Kaushal (“Uri: The Surgical Strike”) has been revealed as the titular DJ in influential Indian filmmaker Anurag Kashyap’s “Almost Love” (“Almost Pyaar with DJ Mohabbat”).
The film had its world premiere at the 2022 Marrakech Film Festival and Asian premiere at the Hainan Island International Film Festival. It is an India-u.K. co-production set across both countries and follows two love stories in parallel universes that face challenges of social status, caste, religion and inequality. It also marks the “Gangs of Wasseypur” filmmaker’s return to the romantic musical genre with composer Amit Trivedi, with whom he memorably teamed on “Dev.D” (2009).
Despite its festival outings, Kaushal’s star presence in the film has been a closely guarded secret so far. The two storylines in the film are interconnected by a podcast called Almost Pyaar with DJ Mohabbat. The DJ talks about the need for love in times of hate.

Dobaaraa
Starring Taapsee Pannu, Pavail Gulati, Rahul Bhat
Directed by Anurag Kashyap
Time travel has always been tricky on screen. It has never looked more tangled and confounding than Dobaaraa, a time-travel saga trapped in transit, and so frozen in its own inner conflicts that one feels all travel should be banned indefinitely.
Taapsee Pannu wakes up one morning looking suitable bewildered. We know the feeling. It’s the confusion we felt after watching Anurag Kashyap’s Bombay Velvet. The puzzle piles up quicker than rubble at a construction site. It is up to us to pick our way through the stockpile of confusions.
Essentially the plot is a mindboggler. There is a 12-year old boy from the 1990s who connects with Taapsee Pannu twenty years later through an old television set. Their bonding is a mix of déjà vu and dejaa-more-confusion.
In this way Doordarshan meets time travel in...

The trailer of Ak vs Ak is out now, and while the audience is loving the style of Anil Kapoor, his co-star Anurag Kashyap, a popular director, is getting lauded for his acting skills too.
Ak vs Ak is not Anurag's first film as an actor, and he certainly is not the first Bollywood director to come in front of the camera.
Here's a list of present day directors who took on the challenge of being an actor for their own films or others':
Anurag Kashyap
He will be seen as a filmmaker who kidnaps the daughter of a filmstar in Vikramaditya Motwane's upcoming film "Ak vs Ak". Blumhouse Television is developing a seven-part Indian anthology series with executive producer Dina Dattani.
Each feature-length episode will explore the themes and mythology set against the backdrop of local Indian festivals, with the project specifically targeting the Indian audience.
The U.S. studio previously enjoyed success in India with genre fare such as critically-acclaimed Netflix Original series “Ghoul,” and most recently “Betaal,” produced in partnership with Sk Global Entertainment and Shah Rukh Khan’s Red Chillies Entertainment.
Dattani, a former media and entertainment lawyer who moved into production, is overseeing the series. Her producing credits include the Sundance Grand Jury-nominated film “Brahman Naman,” written by Variety correspondent Naman Ramachandran, “Hotel Salvation” and “Bombay Velvet.”
“Developing this anthology in partnership with Blumhouse, whose signature in this genre is second to none, has been really exciting, adding thrills, mystery and intrigue to our stories which are set against the backdrop of several Indian folk and regional festivals.

Anurag Kashyap is India's most visible contemporary filmmaker in the west, and that is with good reason. His international breakout film, Gangs of Wasseypur was a smash at the Cannes Director's Fortnight in 2012, and he's continued making excellent cinema since. Of his last four features since 2012, Ugly, Bombay Velvet, Raman Raghav 2.0, and Mukkabaaz, three have been critical hits, and he is one of the most controversial filmmakers in that country. This year sees Kashyap and his team at Phantom Films partnering with Netflix to release a serialized adaptation of Vikram Chandra's hit novel, Sacred Games. This marks Kashyap's first big foray into directing for the small screen, but it doesn't look like he's going to lose any of his punch by scaling...

Vineet Kumar Singh stars as a low-caste boxer fighting for respect in Anurag Kashyap’s heavy-hitting social critique
An eclectic run of credits – bizarre psychothriller No Smoking (2007), Devdas update Dev D (2009), crime diptych Gangs of Wasseypur (2012) – have established writer-director-producer Anurag Kashyap as Hindi cinema’s foremost moderniser. He took a beating on Cotton Club-like period folly Bombay Velvet (2015), but his latest, Mukkabaaz (The Brawler) is a canny comeback bid: a heavy-hitting social critique disguised as a rock ’em-sock ’em sports movie. It follows the attempts of angry lower-caste boxer Shravan (Vineet Kumar Singh) to claw back personal and professional satisfaction after walloping the well-connected coach whose mute niece the boxer was wooing.
Kashyap’s own struggles to stay mobile within a stiflingly regulated, sometimes rigged system never seem very far from the surface. This film-maker’s preference for no-holds-barred realism over the prevailing comforts of melodrama manifests in characters who spit and curse,...

In art, as in life, consistency is not a quality that is easily obtainable. In the life that is created in Vishal Bhardwaj’s art the characters are so flawed and fractured and so driven down to destruction by their own demoniacal desires that you fear they would collapse under the weight of their own ambitions and longings.
This is true as much of the characters as the director himself. Vishal Bhardwaj’s latest arguably his most ambitious film to date could have ended up being the Bombay Velvet/Mohenjo Daro of 2017. It is rescued, no redeemed, by an excruciatingly exquisite perception of the wounds and lashes that love pelts down on those who are its victims.
