Fusco Gets the Spotlight and Machine Out of Whack!
ShelbyTMItchell29 April 2013
Warning: Spoilers
Reese and Finch must help out a doctor who is really a great doctor but a lousy human being as he has cheated and really was not at all a great father to his his only daughter.

As he is poisoned and Reese and Finch are unable to save him. But can catch his killer. As Fusco finally gets the spotlight. As he is the subject of an IAB investigation.

Due to being busy, Reese had to turn down Carter's request to help her partner. As he is busy with the doctor. But Fusco wants Carter safe and out of trouble and politely but firmly tells her not to get involved.

As we see flashbacks of Fusco as a dirty cop with the HR group. But ever since meeting Reese and Finch, along with Carter. He has really changed and is going undercover to get the dirt on HR and only pretending to be dirty.

Sure that Reese can be a jerk to Fusco due to him being dirty. But hopefully that will change as Fusco is trying to be on the good side. But at least, Carter came through to him as Fusco is cleared for now. As she and Bear help him out. As he was accused of a murder.

Unfortunately the doctor dies but not before coming face to face with his killer. As Reese and Finch claim that they are arriving too late to save others, or have been doing things at a split second.

The computer has finally been off line and has a glitch in it. As that will set up for the final two episodes of the season.

Fusco has always been misunderstood but really a great comic relief that his actor, Kevin Chapman will get a Emmy nod at least for this performance!

The Poison and the Grave
claudio_carvalho26 February 2024
The Machine delivers the number of the prominent cardiac surgeon Dr. Richard Nelson and Reese poses as waiter in the party where he is awarded with the title of professor emeritus. However, Dr. Nelson does not feel good and Reese concludes that he arrived late and the surgeon was poisoned. Finch investigates and they conclude Dr. Nelson was poisoned by Polonium and has only twenty-four hours to live. Reese teams-up with Nelson to find who might have done such cruelty. Meanwhile, Simmons has put Internal Affairs to chase Fusco, and he recalls his mistakes in the past. They are looking for the body of Det. Stills that Fusco did not kill but buried his body. Carter asks Reese whether he will help Fusco, but Reese is not available. So Carter decides to help him in an unexpected way.

"In Extremis" is an excellent episode of "Person of Interest", with two great segments. The Machine is now providing late information and Finch and Reese are not able to save many lives, including Dr. Richard Nelson. However, his revenge is great in the end. Carter now crossed the line to help Fusco and is great to see the faces of the Internal Affairs guys, Simmons and Fusco when they do not see the body of Stills in the grave. My vote is nine.

Characters were Out of Character
rdw30002 May 2013
Warning: Spoilers
Being an antenna TV consumer our selection of quality programs is very limited. Being a viewer of the LOST series my wife and I gave Person of Interest a try when it first came on and have seen everyone since thanks to our DVR. We enjoyed all of the episodes up until recently when all of a sudden the quality of the writing as to the plot and what the characters have to say has gotten extremely erratic. This is why I joined IMDb today to see if it is a change of directors or writers or what? The previous regular episodes and then those with Root and Agent Donnelly were suspenseful and fun to watch. I thought "Relevance" on Feb. 21 may have been the best yet. We were so looking forward to the next episode and what did we get: "Proteus". What a gobbed up story and with a hurricane, no less. Awful! None of the usual pacing and the story was one contrivance after another. Episodes 18 and 19 were pretty much back to normal and then this one, which is the worst ever. The daughter at the banquet dressed in leather, the other people with motive that could have poisoned the doctor and were never looked into and then the doctor's trying to make good with his daughter after years of neglect was all pitiful. None of the usual characters looked or acted as they normal do. An example is at one point Reese smirks approvingly at some unnecessary cruelty. I could go on, but I thought someone else might have noticed this too and could explain why?
