The Mountain Between Us (2017)
Struggle to Survive
Alex is an engaged woman and a photographer and Ben is a doctor who is a neurosurgeon who is in a troubled marriage.
Both are on their destination and how that when the pilot played by Beau Bridges has a fatal stroke and crash lands
As both have to deal and lean on one another. Despite hardly knowing each other but they form a bond despite differences. As they bond with a dog also on board While with injuries with Ben helping himself and Alex in the patching them up
But with little food, hardly any rest, and fearing they may not make it. Both discover each other and themselves in ways that they never could have.
Kate Winslet and Idris Elba in the lead roles do well and they are in the only two that are in the film for about 90% of the time. They do well with the elements against them and handle it with both grace and being gutsy.
Great film ans really it is a struggle to survive.
The LEGO Ninjago Movie (2017)
Not the best Lego Movie But Cute
It may not be the best Lego movie but it is cute and go and see it as really it should had been released possibly in the late spring there
Lloyd is the protagonist and is the outcast due to being the son of the main antagonist Garmadon and how that just because one person is bad does not mean the other person is not as he and the only friends that are ninjas like him.
And how that he struggles to defeat as well as not to really be the son of the villain. But when they fail to save the town, the wise teacher and mentor played by Jackie Chan is not just teaching them martial arts but the way of life and how Lloyd needs to get through being the son of a villain. Must task them in saving the town and Lloyd getting respect.
As throughout the film it is not just about fighting. But about looking at two sides to every story. And even though the main villain really is not bad. Just really lonely. But as he follows the team to find out how to save the city and world, he and Lloyd connect in a strange but reliable way
As you do not need weapons or martial arts, but need to find who you are as a person and with heart.
Will Lloyd and his estranged father be able to reunite and put aside their differences and the young boy gaining respect from the town. As the town regardless must rely upon him and his friends.
Not the best Lego movie but it is cute.
American Assassin (2017)
The New Jason Bourne?
If it is a hit, it could be the new Jason Bourne. As both Bourne and the main character, Mitch Rapp played by rising star, Teen Wolf's Dylan O'Brien there.
As his fiancée that he planned to marry and just propose to was killed in a vacation trip, eighteen months as he is seriously kicking rear. Taking martial arts, any kind of guns, as well as languages.
At first, he goes on the mission rogue by himself. But he is then recruited to the CIA and goes by a rough edged ex-Navy Seal turned CIA Cold War Operative Stan Hurley played with wit and toughness by Michael Keaton.
As he and Hurley form a father-son and love-hate relationship bond. Both are in way over their heads along with a female operative named Annika in trying to find a US Navy Seal that has a personal history with Hurley. Going only by the name "Ghost."
As nuke plutonium is a threat to the world and national security, the team is trying to either bring to justice or kill the main antagonist "Ghost" along with stopping the shipment of plutonium from killing half or all or the world's population. By targeting Navy ship of fleets over it.
Action packed non stop. As Dylan O'Brien has a lot of charisma as well as lots of potential for the big screen. Keaton steals every scene as the jaded with wit ex-Navy SEAL who has seen it all and done it all.
Think it is the new Jason Bourne and can't wait for more sequels to possibly be made.
Never Give Up on Dreams
You should never give up on your dreams like in this movie. With two orphans that have been in their orphanage since babies.
One named Felicie who wants to be a ballerina but has the lack of formal training and her best friend and potential love interest Victor an aspiring inventor
There they flee the village and go to Paris to pursue their dreams. As they are in Paris and she Felicie goes to the Paris Opera ballet she meets the mysterious and down on her luck former dancer Odette who walks with a limp. Working for a mean restaurant owner Regine and her snobby daughter Camille.
But in anger, as a postman tries to give the letter of going to ballet school, to Camille another ballerina, Felicie tries to go to the ballet school and learns with help from Odette and both form a mother-daughter bond.
As her relationship with Odette improves, so does her dance moves. And she even gets the strict dance instructor respect as well as like.
As Victor tries to get a job as an inventor and tries to tell his true feelings for his best friend. Will he and will Felicie make it to dance at the Nutcracker as a lot is at stake with competing for the role. Including that of Camille.
Cute movie and shows you should never give up on dreams.
Great Movie but Portraying Army as Villains
Andy Serkis plays the main protagonist over as Caesar who has seen his kind of apes extinct due to prejudice and violence by the humans. As he and the other apes under him, see their kind is nearly extinct.
Lead by the main antagonist, a ruthless Colonel played greatly by Woody Harrelson who wants to wipe the world from all apes.
These two's hatred towards one another get innocent people and animals hurt or killed.
When Caesar and the apes are captured by the Colonel, and are forced into labor with hardly rest, food, or water.
As once again liberal Hollywood portrays the US Army as the villains and heartless killing machines and slave masters. Not the first nor will be the last time that happened. Really hate that for those who serve our country and world to portray them as villains.
But nonetheless stays on theme with the apes freedom and lives on the line for the revamped third movie. Still a great movie.
Wonder Woman (2017)
Very Well Developed Wonder Woman
We find that over in the origins of Wonder Woman. As that of female super heroes are in the "in" thing these days.
Gal Gadot has come a long way from "Fast and Furious" movies to play the lead role. How she came to be Wonder Woman even though her mother did not want her to be that but learning in the film, you can never say no to Wonder Woman who also goes by the name of Diana, Amazon Princess.
But when a pilot in 1940's WWII played by Chris Pine, named Steve as he is a spy on the island that only has women on it. But as the Germany Army lands and finds Steve, the character's name delivering vital information.
Intrigued Diana sets out with him even though her mother, played by Connie Nielsen does not want her to but still gives her, her daughter's blessings due to needing to grow up in the real world.
As she becomes the fish out of water. Trying to know about human customs. As Steve is warned not to go to war and stop the Germans from delivering deadly gas that could kill millions and millions of innocent people.
He has a rogue crew to help him out including Wonder Woman. But it seems nothing can stop Diana and she learns how she has to fight to believe what is right. And encourages others. But at what cost?
Really shows you the origins of how Wonder Woman came to be and picked the perfect choice in actress. Chris Pine is the love interest is great.
Great acting and action, with humor and drama in between. You will not be disappointed.
Despicable Me 3 (2017)
Once Again Minions Steal Show
Trey Parker plays a mullet 80's loving Balthazar Bratt who was a kid star but has since feel Hollywood dumped him over being too old. And now as an adult, he finally gets to get back at the people who dump him.
But Gru and his new wife Lucy, still trying to get used to Gru's three lovely daughters. Margo, Edith, and Agnes
But when both of them get the diamond that Balthazar has stolen but do not get to him, they lose their jobs at the agents of the Anti Villain League.
They get a new life as his estranged and finally found out twin brother, but with blonde hair Dru invites him to see his place and Dru is the opposite of his twin. Fun loving and filthy rich over the pig farm literally.
But he is hiding a facade as he wants to be a villain. Despite the fact Gru gave up that lifestyle. But still the brothers bond in the short time.
As Bratt promises to steal the diamond which he does and Dru wants to tag along with Gru to steal it. But Gru reluctantly agrees but does not tell the real truth in trying to get his and Lucy's job back.
Once again the Minions steal the show. And how the Minions go to prison after they mutiny against Gru for not returning to villain lives. Except for two of them that stay with the family.
It is a cute movie as always. Steve Carell says it will be his last film doing the character of Gru. But could return to that of cameos.
The House (2017)
Few Laughs Despite Amy and Will
There were a few laughs. But still that it is pretty much a joke movie. Really pretty dumb. Despite being a fan of former Saturday Night Live members Will Ferrell and Amy Poehler.
As parents Scott and Kate Johnson mild mannered as they are delightful to send their daughter played by Ryan Simpkins.
But when the corrupt city counsel leader played by Nick Kroll decides to not pay up their daughter's college scholarship, and with their best friend, Frank played by scene stealer Jason Mantzoukas who's wife left him over due to his gambling habits.
But as they lose money in Vegas, so they open in Frank's house a casino and plus despite it being illegal, they are so desperate to send their daughter to college.
But when all else is going good, Kroll who plays Bob has also a seedy reputation when there are not meetings with the city counsel and is determined to hide that. While going after the Johnson family. And figuring out what is going on.
Will the Johnsons get the money to pay for their daughter's college or will they end up in jail with Frank, and him losing his wife in the process?
It has laughs but still wished I did not go and see this movie.
Original is the Best but Love This One Too
It is the characters that we have grown to come and love. And that Peter Quill and his team are back. And how that they end up being the Guardians of the Galaxy officially fighting bad guys.
But when Rocket steals something from the people that they were working, named Sovereign for in addition to getting Gamora's estranged wicked Nebula as she has reasons of her own over wanting to get her good sister back.
Sovereign wants them to pay but Kurt Russell's Ego character(Yes that is his name), saves them and reveals he is Peter's father. Minus Groot and Rocket who stay behind to fix their wounded ship, the others go with Ego and his right hand woman, Mantis. Who never experienced being included with people except for Ego. Not just showing them his planet. Plus he wants his estranged son to join in on his cause in his own planet.
Until the others find something strange on the planet. And try to warn Peter. While Rocket and Baby Groot fight with the other villains and ultimately team up with Michael Rooker to bring the Guardians back safe.
It is really good but the original is the original. No matter how many sequels there are. But it is really loads of fun and action and humor and romance.
Johnny Depp is Jack Sparrow
Johnny Depp is indeed the character of Jack Sparrow. With charming, arrogant, and brutish as he once again takes ship sort to speak for the fifth movie
This time he is dueling with Javier Bardem who is the main antagonist and seeks revenge and will kill anybody that gets in his way. In particular Jack.
When two newcomers join up, Will Turner(Brenton Thawaites), and Carina Smyth a woman sentenced to death over witchcraft(Kaya Scodelario), but really is an academic astronomer for reasons of their own for "joining" the trip.
As Jack is a wanted man, he must escape Bardem's character Salazar an ghost pirate, and clear his name from Salazar also to the British Army who seek revenge on him and his crew.
Geoffrey Rush returns as Barbossa as a hoot and delight and has quite a secret too.
Fun movie and really does not take itself seriously.
