Reese first catches up with the latest number, Dr. Richard Nelson, when he is being awarded the title of professor emeritus at a lavish dinner banquet. Dr. Nelson is a well respected and renowned cardiac surgeon and researcher, with his credentials suggesting that he is the target. That is indeed the case as Reese and Finch are too late: someone has poisoned Dr. Nelson, probably he ingesting something at that banquet that was slipped into his food or drink. Dr. Nelson first believes that Reese is the culprit, but Reese convinces him that he is only there to help find who did it, even if Reese cannot save him as he finds out the poison is radioactive, which is eating Dr. Nelson's insides and which also means that he will be dead probably within 24 hours. Reese, Finch and Dr. Nelson have to find out what Dr. Nelson ate or drank that was the source of the poison, and wade through the many facets of his life to find the killer. Among the suspects are Dr. Nelson's estranged daughter Molly,... Written by Huggo

Did You Know?

Detective Joseph Soriano: You know, at the end of the day, as a cop, you're the sum of two sides of the ledger. The people who want to see you go down, and the people who don't give a crap about you. Now, Fusco, I don't think anyone gives a crap about you.

Characters were Out of Character
2 May 2013 | by (Gainesville,GA) – See all my reviews

Being an antenna TV consumer our selection of quality programs is very limited. Being a viewer of the LOST series my wife and I gave Person of Interest a try when it first came on and have seen everyone since thanks to our DVR. We enjoyed all of the episodes up until recently when all of a sudden the quality of the writing as to the plot and what the characters have to say has gotten extremely erratic. This is why I joined IMDb today to see if it is a change of directors or writers or what? The previous regular episodes and then those with Root and Agent Donnelly were suspenseful and fun to watch. I thought "Relevance" on Feb. 21 may have been the best yet. We were so looking forward to the next episode and what did we get: "Proteus". What a gobbed up story and with a hurricane, no less. Awful! None of the usual pacing and the story was one contrivance after another. Episodes 18 and 19 were pretty much back to normal and then this one, which is the worst ever. The daughter at the banquet dressed in leather, the other people with motive that could have poisoned the doctor and were never looked into and then the doctor's trying to make good with his daughter after years of neglect was all pitiful. None of the usual characters looked or acted as they normal do. An example is at one point Reese smirks approvingly at some unnecessary cruelty. I could go on, but I thought someone else might have noticed this too and could explain why?
