For having been filmed in such a beautiful Canadian city, Director Michael Melski's thriller Charlie Zone manages to avoid showing the audience anything that isn't rundown, dirty, dark, or otherwise really seedy. Showcasing the underbelly of the city's otherwise polished exterior gives the shady world in which Charlie Zone's tale of double-crosses and drug dealers takes place a realism that no script or actor can fake. It's a badly needed accommodation because the film can't stand up to too much scrutiny when it comes to the story. Charlie Zone keeps the story pulsing with enough intrigue to maintain the audience's attention, but the suspense and mystery are seriously lacking in a plot that just sort of fizzles out with an anticlimactic resolution.

We've also included the DVD and Blu-ray box art below for the film which finds release on June 4th. Michael Melski directs froma script he wrote alongside Joseph LeClair, and also produces with Brent Barclay, Tracey Boulton and Hank White The film is a twisting dramatic thriller set against the drug-ravaged streets of one of Canada’s roughest neighborhoods. Avery Paul, a disgraced boxer and ex-convict, is hired to abduct a runaway from a crack house in the city’s notorious “Charlie Zone,” and return her safely to her family. Today's batch of new MPAA ratings brings a little bit of everything beginning with the awful Aftershock, which I saw, reviewed and hated at the Toronto Film Festival last year. That is followed by my most anticipated film of the year, Before Midnight, which I am actually working with Sony Classics right now to bring you a rather cool feature this May. Also included is the sci-fi feature Europa Report starring Sharlto Copley, Scary Movie 5 and two Sundance acquisitions in The Way, Way Back and Alex Gibney's documentary We Steal Secrets: The Story of Wikileaks. Like I said, a little bit of everything. Below is the complete batch of latest MPAA ratings from Bulletin #2265. Aftershock Rated R For strong bloody violence including rape, language, drug content and some nudity. Release Date: Tba 2013 Baby Geniuses: Treasures Of Egypt Rated G Before Midnight Rated R For sexual content/nudity and language.
