Gravitas Ventures has acquired worldwide rights to Uinta Productions and Paper Street Pictures’ “Snow Valley,” the directorial debut from the late Brandon Murphy.
Murphy, who died in January 2022, was the screenwriter for “Hitman’s Wife’s Bodyguard.” He also wrote the script for “Snow Valley,” which was in post production at the time of his death.
The film stars Barbara Crampton (“Re-Animator”), Rachel Michiko Whitney (“The Card Counter”), Cooper van Grootel (“One Of Us Is Lying”), Tom Williamson (“All Cheerleaders Die”), David Lambert (“The Fosters”), Paige Elkington (“Relationship Status”), and Ali Fumiko Whitney (“The Road Dance”).
In the psychological thriller, a newly engaged couple’s swanky ski weekend goes horribly awry when an unexpected guest arrives and the house’s dark supernatural forces begin to rise on the anniversary of a tragic event.
“Snow Valley” was produced by Chris Abernathy, Aaron B. Koontz, Justice Laub and Michiko Whitney. Andrea Chung and Solco Schuit executive produced.

[Note: With the film released today the UK, here’s a reposting of our review of Slotherhouse from its US debut last year]
What could possibly top the recent run of cocaine-fueled bears, sharks, and cougars? How about a cute, three-toed critter turning a sorority house into a Slotherhouse? Yes, the world’s slowest animal has turned homicidal and is carving up sorority girls like a seasoned slasher. Although, as the prologue that shows the critter getting bagged by poachers hints, this isn’t your typically chill furry tree hanger.
Emily wants to follow in her mother’s footsteps and become president of Sigma Lambda Theta, Slth for short. Unfortunately, she lacks the ruthlessness and social media presence of the current president Brianna. However, a chance meeting with Oliver, an exotic animal aficionado of dubious morality, changes everything.

You know this film will be highly unserious if it’s titled with a pun. So, if you go in expecting nothing more than what it can offer, Slotherhouse delivers a delightful sense of campiness and a great message. Horror is a creative genre, and we get to see all sorts of things under the label. There’s a lot of fun to be had with this film, and the acting resembles any Hallmark or popular teen Netflix film. Also, Puppet Killer Sloth is quite adorable, and there is some self-aware dialogue that is very well-timed and funny. Emily is a sorority sister who is looking for meaning in her sorority life. She wants to stand for president of the house against popular girl Brianna. Emily is very concerned about her popularity and is trying really hard to make it big on social media. When she saves a dog in...

One would be forgiven for stepping into a film titled Slotherhouse with incredibly low expectations. The title and gimmick of the film – mass murdering sloth takes out an entire sorority – doesn’t exactly conjure visions of the masters, and frankly, the world of trash horror is so inundated with similarly themed no-budget junk, that I wouldn’t even blame a body for skipping it altogether. However, horror comedy fans with broad minds would do well not to look past this kitschy gem, Slotherhouse is not at all what you’re expecting, this killer really has claws. Emily (Lisa Ambalavanar) is a milquetoast sorority gal at Sigma Lambda Theta, an elite house with an even more elite sisterhood. Ruled over with an iron fist by chapter president...

What’s the scariest creature the world has ever known? If you said the sloth, you’re not alone. Some may find these furry bundles of lethargy charming, but a closer look reveals a devious predator lurking amidst the trees just waiting to attack us with those long, blood-soaked claws. Matthew Goodhue’s Slotherhouse pits this tree-hanging menace with another fearsome fiend: the ambitious sorority girl.
Animal lover Emily (Lisa Ambalavanar) has set her sights on the Presidential Suite of her lavish sorority house as she begins her senior year of college. Unfortunately, this means she’ll have to take down incumbent mean girl Brianna (Sydney Craven) and her team of frightened minions. Hoping to boost her social media cred, Emily adopts a three–toed sloth she names Alpha from a sketchy animal poacher and unwittingly unleashes a blood bath as the tiny assassin slices her way through the Sigma Lambda Theta sisters.

A film about a murderous sloth rampaging through a sorority house is smarter and funnier than one might expect
The magic of cinema is in its ability to take our world, in all its messy complexity, and reflect its core truth back to us. Cinema opens our eyes. It can teach us empathy, open our eyes to wider issues. It can change us. Or it can give us a film about a killer sloth with a samurai sword, which is honestly quite a lot better.
On paper, Slotherhouse has The Asylum written all over it. It has the potential to be a cheaply made, lowest common denominator Sharknadoalike; a great title and an outrageous premise that, in reality, amounts to a stunt-cast non-actor emoting in a single location for an hour to fill the gap between the three VFX shots you already saw in the trailer. Even if you actively...

"In the jungle, she's a 'beta.' But out here, she's an 'alpha.'" Gravitas Ventures + Iconic Events have unveiled the first official trailer for Slotherhouse, the hilariously fun new slasher horror film featuring a killer sloth. Yes, seriously, it's real – and amazing. It's described as a "delightfully over-the-top and movie about a sloth that goes on a killing spree in a sorority..." In the spirit of M3GAN, Cocaine Bear, and the Chucky / Child's Play series, though I'd reckon it's more like Gremlins or Critters. Emily Young wants to be elected as her sorority's president. She adopts a cute sloth, thinking it can become the new mascot and help her win, until a string of fatalities implicate the sloth as the main suspect in the murders. It's time to meet Alpha the Killer Sloth. Starring Lisa Ambalavanar, Sydney Craven, Olivia Rouyre, Bianca Beckles-Rose, Andrew Horton, Sutter Nolan, and Grace Patterson.
