Waste of time
jbsmth23 February 2009
I watched this movie with the expectation that it would be a bad movie that was at least fun to watch. How wrong I was. This has to be the worst movie I have ever had the displeasure to sit through. I cannot think of a single aspect of this film that is not absolutely horrible. It plays like a 10-year-old with a new video camera got some friends together and asked them to improvise being macho. I can't even believe there was a script involved. If you watch this movie, you will regret that you wasted 90 minutes of your life that you will never get back. If you want to see a movie so bad that it's actually amusing, try Death Race 2000, with David Carradine. At least that film is laughable, not excruciatingly painful to watch. I find that I am angry at myself for sitting through the entire thing. Please do yourself a favor and miss this one completely.

Horrible Movie!
jacob-mccormick20 April 2013
Warning: Spoilers
This is quite possibly the worst movie ever made. Ever! It's worse than films that are considered the worst of all time. I encourage people to see it for a good laugh at an example of how not to make a movie. This Movie Is Completely Awful! In one way, not worth the time to watch. In another way, it's fun to see such a bad movie. In the beginning a man steps on a mouse and kills it, you almost see the poor thing explode. I don't know about you, but I don't want to see an animal being killed in that gruesome way. The film quality is horrendous, too! It looks like the budget was $5. The colors are dull, the lines are corny and the everything about the film makes it the worst movie ever made.

Worst film ever made
polysicsarebest30 November 2008
Absolutely nothing good whatsoever about this film. I don't even see how a hardcore "juggalo" (which I honestly didn't know still existed) could enjoy this crap.

Filled with a terrible soundtrack that reloops the same awful ICP songs a thousand times, sickening DV color scheme, absolutely nothing funny, no good gore or killing scenes, the worst plot in the history of film, terrible amateur actors... there's absolutely nothing to like. You know you're in trouble when the cleverest part of the movie is the word "vaginamite".

Also, for those wondering how Raven's performance is, well... it's probably just as good as the acting he had to do in his professional wrestling career. So, take that for what it's worth.

So awful it gave me a headache
TheLittleSongbird13 September 2012
Most Asylum movies are awful, but there is something compulsively watchable about them. Even for The Asylum though Death Racers was just a piece of rubbish. Visually, Death Racers was so slapdash that it not only gave me a headache but also made me dizzy. The colour scheme is nauseating, the editing is so choppy to the point that it's incoherent and the special effects look as though they only cost less than £5 to make. The soundtrack is annoyingly repetitive not just in the use of it but also the composition, and overall considering that I've never liked the style I just found it grating to listen to. Death Racers is appallingly written, I have not heard such atrocious dialogue in a long while, even for Steve the Hammer, while the story consists of predictable plotting, rushed pacing and very clumsily choreographed action sequences and you don't learn anything or care about the characters. The acting is also dire. Overall, a really awful film with no redeeming qualities even for The Asylum. 1/10 Bethany Cox

Love Asylum films but this is crap
joel_exc26 July 2012
A Haunting In Winchester County was a good Asylum movie. Death Racers however is complete crap. I love Insane Clown Possee but their efforts are wasted here. TERRIBLE direction. AWFUL script. NO CARS!!!! Why do I keep buying these bloody dvds? Great idea for a movie. NO CRASHES & NO CORPSES Just sit and think about how good this film COULD be rather than buying it! Not even worth the pound I paid for it... STOP READING NOW. Why does Internet Movie Database INSIST on Ten Lines per review? It is daft. To be honest i am just filling up the lines with GIBBERISH now. Fun seven fish cushion. He went back to the house and harrowing tool plus will idealisation identified the little objects.

Another mini B Classic from The Asylum
misterkraig22 September 2008
Now looking at the average scorings, it appear that there is a lot of people who hate this movie. Enjoy it for what it is.....stupid, violent, gory and cheaply well made (I really like the editing) Asylum continue to churn out enjoyable time wasters..keep it going guys!!!

Wrestler Raven comes from the Hulk Hogan school of acting, ie turn up look menacing and beat people up.....The Insane Clown Posse are clearly enjoying themselves playing themselves in this twisted version of the future.

Oh yes, love the ICP's ice cream truck and the best deaths by hatchet's since Mr Voorhees' heyday.

thehobo_8627 May 2009
I rented this film and so far the first 30 minutes has been terrible, i mean, holy s#@t! The editor, director and actors are so bad, i thought i was going to get cancer from just watching this movie, it's one of those films that you need to fast forward through to see if there's any good bits, and then realize that the price of rental is the same price you pay to get executed in Korea!!!! And so i gave this a 1 out of 10. i don't have anything else to say, so DON'T WATCH THIS MOVIE IF YOUR LIFE DEPENDS ON IT, TRUST!! for the love of god!!!!!!

P.S. the insane clown posse would be better off doing a movie where the writers aren't retarded or drunks.

thank you, and be safe.

Excuse me, a "B" movie? No fricking way....
mellowliving24 March 2013
I am astounded on some of the reviews here claiming this is a B movie. This is a movie that you show to a class of students who want to learn how to make a movie and point and say, "this is the wrong way". And I've thought I've seen some horrible movies on the syfy channel. This actually manages to go a step below that spectrum. The acting is off the charts south and the dialogue is even further down there. The story is pretty dumb but I have seen worst in that department.

But you wanna know what gives this movie that little bit of extra crap that truly makes it extraordinarily bad? It is the editing and the cinematography. Almost every kill scene is looped over and over again without relief. And randomly, a mundane scene where an "actor" talks or does some kind of motion also loops. Why? It adds nothing to the movie and only frustrates you. And they will zoom in at like 10x on some scenes or use some gimmicky trick. You can tell they found these gimmicky tools on whatever program they were using to edit the movie and said"oh yea man that's crazy lets throw that in somewhere". The soundtrack is pretty crappy but then again I never cared for ICP. It feels forced on you, they introduce it and remove it quickly and abruptly.

It is obvious this movie was done lazily. Poor editing, poor acting, poor dialogue, etc. It looks like they only did one take on every single scene and didn't bother even trying to make a decent movie. Well when you put in nothing you get nothing. The only honest thing I can say I liked about the whole movie was one scene with the android dude and the chick. And that's it.

Oh, and you know what surprised the hell out of me? This movie was on SHOWTIME!?!?! I thought showtime was a premium competitor to HBO, why, who got this movie on there? What??

Like a combination of cheap porno and pro wrestling
Barrnstormer28 June 2009
I've so far watched this film from the start to the first advert break. I can honestly say it's the biggest pile of crap I've ever seen. It reminds me of the kind of completely staged thing you see when watching wrestling on TV, you know, when it's supposed to be a "behind the scenes" view of what goes on. The acting, effects, script and direction are terrible. I've just laughed out loud at some of the effects because they're so ridiculously bad. Not in a good way, it's like your 7 year old school kid says "look daddy, look what I made you at school today" and you just laugh at them and tell them it's crap. The kind of people who'll enjoy this are the type who watch pro wrestling and are convinced it's not staged.

Am i alright???
sajid_trash7 May 2011
The first thing i wanna know is... can i give any film a "0"? I am finding it hard to give this one even a 1 rating point. I wanna get hanged at this point, probably the worst 90 or so minutes of my life. I have seen bad movies in past but never imagined something to be this much painful. What i wanna say about those clowns and the "Vaginamyte" is... leave us alone, please... i beg you. My suggestion would me, "Save yourself and do the world a favor by not going within a mile of a DVD store which contains a copy of DEATH RACERS". I understand that its a B class movie, but even then there are some standard over there too, the director, editor, script writer and most of all those actors should realize this straight reality.

Best B-movie of the decade
Viva_Chiba28 November 2010
No, i am not on drugs, this is definitely the best B-movie of the decade, since that i am a lover of B-movies and other movies like this, i wanted to see a so called "Mockbuster" made by Asylum.

Death Racers was made for capitalize on the remake of the movie Death Race 2000. I think that Death Racers has far more elements of the original movie than the official remake !

Despite the low budget, Death Racers is entertaining, but don't expect a "car N chicks" movie a la "Fast and furious".

There is some cheap (but fun) gore, even some brief nudity from one of the suicide girls chicks.

Most of the music is made by the Hip-hop duo Insane Clown Posse (they play them self in the movie), i like their music, i am not a juggalo but i like the music that hangs around them.

Death Racers is shot on digital, using the same nauseating color scheme over and over, the audio mixing is bad, sometimes you don't understand what the actors say.

Much better than the official remake
misbegotten29 June 2009
Warning: Spoilers
It's getting to the stage where The Asylum's films are just as worthwhile - or even more enjoyable - than the big-budgeted studio movies that they're blatantly copying. Case in point: DEATH RACERS, their take on Paul Anderson's DEATH RACE (2008), itself a remake of cult favourite DEATH RACE 2000 (1976). While Anderson is clearly a talented director, with a keen visual eye and the ability to craft decent action sequences, I find the majority of his films to be empty, mechanical and instantly forgettable. DEATH RACE was no exception.

Ironically, DEATH RACERS is more of a legitimate remake of the original DEATH RACE 2000 than Anderson's effort, with a large chunk of ESCAPE FROM NEW YORK also thrown in. The film's premise is that in a few years time, extremist armed militias - disillusioned and angered by the actions of the U.S. government - will try to seize control of the country by force, resulting in a civil war. The military crack down hard and swiftly end the uprising, whereupon a vast wall is constructed around a large un-named city in mid-America, which is re-christened 'The Redzone', and hundreds of thousands of insurgents are deposited inside. The Redzone quickly becomes an open-air prison for the entire United States, with hundreds of normal criminals also being dumped within it's walls to fend for themselves. Fast forward to 2033. A terrorist mastermind known only as 'the Reaper', the unofficial ruler of the Redzone (played by professional wrestler Scott Levy), has manufactured large quantities of the extremely lethal toxin sarin and is planning to dump it into the crumbling & leaking sewers underneath the city, where it will seep into the bedrock, spread further, and subsequently poison the natural water supply of the state and eventually most of the country. Having the military deal with the situation isn't an option - they're fully occupied fighting numerous wars overseas - so the state Governor has the idea of using other Redzone inmates to neutralize the Reaper. Now, the logical thing to do would be to covertly contact the most formidable criminals in the city and secretly offer them their freedom in return for killing the Reaper. However, the Governor instead organises a 'Death Race' through the Redzone, with points gained by how many people the competitors kill, and the points system rigged so that the contenders have to kill the Reaper - who's worth 400 points by himself - in order to collect enough points to gain their freedom. The event is heavily publicised, even receiving live television coverage... which of course means that the Reaper knows what's happening and can prepare traps and ambushes for those taking part.

I'd like to think that such a contrived plot line is the scriptwriter satirizing modern-day politicians' constant use of publicity stunts and their need to be seen as doing something about society's problems, regardless of whether they're actually doing anything. But it's more likely that a Death Race only exists in this film because otherwise it can't cash in on Anderson's DEATH RACE. As for the title characters, the Death Racers themselves, they consist of a pair of gangbangers, two war criminals (one of them an Oliver North-type, who successfully convinced a Congressional committee that America should declare war on France), a female serial-killing duo with the team name 'Vaginamite', and lastly the rap metal group Insane Clown Posse, who - despite the fact that the movie's set almost a quarter of a century from now - play themselves, with no explanation for how they haven't aged (we're told that the ICP were imprisoned because their music - which forms the movie's soundtrack - incited people to commit murder, leading to them being dubbed 'the Charlie Mansons of the 21st Century').

Aside from it's nonsensical plot, DEATH RACERS has (barely) two dimensional characterisation, clumsy action scenes and two dollar special effects. The dialogue in particular is truly woeful, and consists of little more than lame puns, crude comebacks, unimaginative threats and unfunny wisecracks. The lines given to gang member Steve the Hammer are so dreadful that I actually felt sorry for the actor. The movie is also often over-lit or over-exposed, clearly deliberately, and it's a look that swiftly grows tiresome. Yet despite all these shortcomings, DEATH RACERS actually succeeds despite itself. The movie has been made with unapologetic glee, and contains moments of sly wit, such as Steve the Hammer admitting sheepishly that the severed head he's using as a hood ornament is a prop ("The warden won't let me use a real one" he explains), and another character suffering a serious & near-fatal axe wound that ultimately and unexpectedly saves their life.

Levy and the ICP are clearly seen as the star attractions and get quite a large amount of screen-time. Levy is barely adequate as the thuggish Reaper, and doesn't bring any villainous charisma to the role, while the ICP are so plastered in their stage make-up that it's impossible to see any facial expressions, and you can't tell if they're giving good performances or not. As a result, it's the girls of Vaginamite who steal the show by default.

In conclusion, DEATH RACERS isn't big and it's not clever. In fact it's silly, messy, juvenile, and as dumb as a bag of rocks. But it's still more entertaining than Paul Anderson's bloated and stagnant studio product.

Wow
seangh15 April 2009
This movie redefines the term inept. Atrocious acting, worse editing, and terrible effects of any kind. Funny to see the only so called racing, and people are driving at about 8mph. Kids on tricycles go faster. Thankfully with films like this, the fast forward button makes 90 minutes of pure misery about 5 minutes instead.

There isn't even a funny one liner to be had here, which is usually the staple of all terrible movies. The only chuckles to be had within this tripe was the laughably bad violent scenes, or heaven forbid, the fight scene with the plastic arm looking cyborg guy. I've seen better production values in a high school play, seriously.

I am not familiar at all with Asylum productions work, past, present or future releases, but if all their films are as god awful as this one was, you can bet I won't be watching any others.

Omg, shockingly the worst movie I've ever been forced to watch
Universe317 July 2012
If any movie deserves 0 stars; this is it. Just wow... Every time I try to think up an intelligent description for this flick, cyborg strap-on rape pops into my mind and i need a shower. Eaewwww!! And omg arggh! So, please, do yourself a favor, avoid this trash. Please!!11

. (I r making The 10 line minimum) . . . . So yeah, I'm wasting words now. Vodka... It makes my sentences concise. Have i hit 10 lines yet. I AM trying. But, and I doubt but vested interests will debate, this is the epitome of bad movies. Hopefully a few people got paid and such, but seriously, wow... Only watch this if your family was involved in it somehow. And even then, lie to them.

As bad as a film can be.
poolandrews29 June 2009
Warning: Spoilers
Death Racers is set in the near future where Govenor Reagan Black (Robert Pike Daniel) has a big problem, in a prison built on a old water treatment plant some bloke (Scott Levy) is threatening to release a poisonous gas called Serin into America's water supply resulting in lots of people's death's. For some reason instead of dropping a bomb on this bloke's head Govenor Black decides to hold a 'Death Race' where four teams of criminals are given the chance to earn their freedom by making it to this bloke now called 'The Reaper' for Death Racer purposes & kill him & therefore saving millions of American lives. The teams are the Severed Head Gang (S.H.G), Homeland Security, Vaginamyte & the Insane Clown Posse (I.C.P.) who all drive silly cars & all try to earn their freedom by killing The Reaper bloke...

Directed by Roy Kynrim this is yet another 'Mockbuster' rip-off from those extremely untalented people at The Asylum, an obvious rip-off of Death Race (2008) with only two letters difference in the title Death Racers is easily one of the worst films I have ever seen. Right first off lets talk about the positives aspects of Death Racers, the female team are called Vaginamyte which is a quite amusing & rude play on the word Dynamite. That's it. That's the only good thing about Death Racers since everything else is absolutely terrible from the awful script to the pathetic action. Death Racers tries to be clever with some social satire including Big Brother reality TV style coverage of the Death Racers but it's so badly done & boring as to be a liability & quite frankly it's much worse than the reality TV it's sending up. Then there's the misleading title, anyone would think that death racers is about a race with lots of death involved but the cars that the death racers drive are almost inconsequential to the pot & are only there to tie in with Death Race it's ripping off & to get our criminal character's from 'A' to 'B' where The Reaper is. There is no race, there is no start or finish line & no track, no innocent pedestrians get mowed down & apart from a few rubbishy scenes of the cars driving along they barely feature. To be honest I think a lot of (our) time & (our) pain could have been saved if these guy's were just flown in by helicopter & dropped off where The Reaper was (they clearly knew where he was hiding since the GPS systems in the cars was supposed to take them to him). Death Racers is awful, it's boring, painful to watch, painful to listen to, it has plot holes galore with a terrible twist towards the end that is one of the most dull I've seen in a while, the character's are annoying, the film is made up of random events rather than a coherent story & I really can't stress just how bad Death Racers is, you have been warned.

The production values are laughable, the location seems to be some sort of parking lot where these cars 'speed' along going nowhere in particular. The film has this awful cheap video look & colour scheme that just screams cheap, instead of the sky being blue it's white & all the colours are just 'turned down' & muted for want of a better expression. The violence & gore are tame, there's a couple of awful looking decapitations, a severed arm & hand (probably the same prop to save money just cut down!) & not much else. Now I don't live in the US so I didn't realise but apparently the I.P.C. (Insane Clown Posse) are a real hip-hop band & quite frankly they are awful here & I presume that at least some of the terrible soundtrack is down to them. Beside these two insane clown dudes former WCW Champion & professional wrestler Scott Levy makes his film debut here & is terrible. The cars look cheap & the guns & rocket launchers attached look like they are made out of cardboard or something, the Roboman thing also looks terrible & in a poorly shot scene (IE: you barely see anything) dons a large metallic strap-on & anally rapes a woman.

Filmed on a budget that probably wouldn't buy a round at my local pub Death Racers looks terrible with rock bottom production values (the Governor's office is decorated with a flag hanging from the ceiling) & an awful cheap shot on video look. The acting if it can even be described as such is awful from all involved.

Death Racers is a terrible film from start to finish & is truly awful on every level both conceptually & technically, this is a real chore to sit through. So far the IMDb comments page is littered with one star reviews & heres another, the IMDb User Ratings page says that more people voted Death Racers a lowly one star than all the other ratings put together. Do yourself a really big favour & avoid this at all costs, you have been warned!

horrific athe way around
brianguta20004 October 2012
Warning: Spoilers
Let me start out by saying wow! This movie is SO poorly done I can't even dream up something positive to say about this atrocious pile of garbage. Although, I did only catch the last 45 mins or so of this....movie? I haven't read all the reviews posted but the third one says something to the effect that they liked it or something and no they aren't on drugs but I am on drugs and yet I still find this film impossible to enjoy. I suppose maybe because it's killing my buzz. I truly didn't believe a film as poorly done as this was even possible welp!, I'm now a believer. We've all seen really bad movies but, it's as if all parties involved intentionally tried, no, not tried but gave it their all to make what some of us have had the unfortunate experience of witnessing. I didn't laugh once I simply tried to make myself as comfortable on the couch as possible cause get ready first time viewers it's gonna be painful. The dialog is akin to listening to a bunch of high school dudes hangin out after football practice. The acting is also a complete debacle and I may be giving the folks appearing in film too much credit simply stating how poor the acting is. Finally we have the music as most other reviews stated the ICP song just loops and loops and loops. Yes, I do agree with anyone else that found it terribly annoying. I feel embarrassed for these people who actually dared to appear in the film. This flick absolutely sinks to a new low and not only does it sink like a lead balloon it completely obliterates anything in the category of pure crap! I could go on and on and I have to some degree but I just had to vent my frustrations. If you think you're going to be as annoyed as I was this is a must skip. If you insist on watching it because like myself I sometimes catch myself saying how bad can it be? Go dunk your head in a toilet!

Stupidest movie ever made.
sydewynder0332 March 2014
Warning: Spoilers
This is absolutely the worst of the worst, movies ever made, the acting is 3rd grade level the writing is atrocious, the filming unwatchable and the music, well the music is ICP which is a category of its own wretchedness! The world would be a better place if they just disappeared altogether. Totally unwatchable, as agreed to by many others. If i could i would give it minus stars. The movie execs should all agree to burn the master copy and never speak of this waste of time and money again! The people who wrote, directed, starred (i use the term very loosely here)and produced this should all have their heads examined and their sac cards revoked.

Might be one of the worst....
TheDarkKnightMatter30 December 2014
Might be one of the worst movie of all time. It is mind blowing literally, just like a gun to your head type and end the misery. The acting is worst than a cheesy porn that involves the plumber and the desperate house wife. There's bad movies and there's Death Racers, which is on a new level of awful. The acting was terrible, it seems like they gathered all those people that are willing to donate their body to science testing out new drugs that isn't FDA approved and said "hey I'll pay you 50 bucks to be in my movie". Not one of them have probably ever had any acting experiences and after this movie probably destroyed any chances of ever doing a legitimate film.

Really Bad
Michael_Elliott24 May 2012
Death Racers (2008)

* (out of 4)

Asylum's "mockbuster" of Jason Statham's DEATH RACE (a remake of DEATH RACE 2000) features the Insane Clown Posse so watch at your own risk. The "story" is set in the future as four groups enter a death race where they get points by the amount of people they kill. Our heroes, played by ICP, are trying to win their freedom but this only happens if they win the race. I listened to ICP when I was around sixteen but this little stretch in my life probably didn't last over a year or so. Watching DEATH RACERS all these years later was the first time since that I've heard anything from the group so I must admit that I was mildly interesting but the end result is just one complete mess. Even for a picture from The Asylum this thing here is pretty bad but at the same time I'll at least give it credit for attempting to be low-rent trash like the original movie and that's something that the remake tried to avoid. With that said, once again we're treated to a movie that has no original story to be found and sadly the filmmakers just kept it going and going and going. At over 90-minutes the story is so weak that it couldn't even support a 30-minute movie let along something three times longer than that. I'm really not sure why so many "C" movies of today have to run at these extended running times. The 50s and 70s were full of bad movies but at least they knew not to drag on for too long. The problem here is that we're given a mumbo jumbo backstory dealing with humans being held down but it's just boring. Even the four groups of characters are rather boring in their own right, although I'll give the screenwriter credit for the Vaginamyte name. Those wanting violence and gore will find that here as we're given quite a bit of CGI scenes that of course look bad but bad gore is better than none. Performances are what you'd expect from a film like this and fans of ICP will probably enjoy seeing them act out their characters. With that said, their songs being repeated over and over again gets very annoying very quickly. In the end, DEATH RACERS is ultra stupid and sadly there's just not enough going on to make it entertaining even in a "so bad it's good" way.

without the sound it's much better
trashgang3 May 2012
I found this turkey on Blu Ray at a sell-out for only a few cent. The cover looked okay but once I noticed Asylum productions I knew enough. They are known for ripping off titles from blockbusters. The last one I saw was The Terminators that was rather watchable but this here is really a turkey.

The acting was really terrible and the soundtrack you have to be into rap music, it's all Insane Clown Posse that is playing. And the guys are also in this flick. What is really annoying is the news update scene's. They doesn't offer anything and is so painfully to watch due wooden performances. But the conversations are also really stupid. There are two chicks driving the vaginamyte mobile and they look indeed sexy but what a stupid language they have. The blond one shows her juggs but not sexy at all.

There's a lot of red stuff to watch but it's mostly off-screen that things happens , so you never see the result, you only see the blood flying against the wall or in the air.

What they tried to do was to make a grindhouse with a combination of all genres, post-apocalyptic, road movie, cyborg, gratuitous nudity, rape,...but it failed completely.

Still, for lovers of gory flicks or exploitation it is okay, the funny thing is, I muted the sound and it became much better...bad CGI, but a lot of red stuff.

It's retarded, it's ugly it's not very exiting funny or scary-but it was the first time I enjoyed a movie purely because it was so bad!
Foreverisacastironmess12312 September 2011
Warning: Spoilers
"As bad as a film can be" declares one reviewer. Let's not go nuts. It was amusing, and funny in strange and unexpected ways-oh god, I'm defending the honour of Death Racers! I disliked it probably as much as anyone when I first saw it. But I found that for whatever reason I appreciated its utter wretchedness a tiny bit more with each viewing-for this movie is almost artfully bad... My god, it's like something shot on someone's hand-held in some s***ty back-lot in the middle of nowhere! Everything is constantly dingy and dusty and amber coloured. Absolutely no charm whatsoever. The tone of the thing becomes almost surreal after a while. Car racing for a start is not my thing at all, not even with ridiculously pimped-out rides and explosions and murder, so that probably affected how much I "enjoyed" this movie quite a bit. You never see any racing anyway! It was the first time I ever saw cyborg rape(!?!)in a movie. I felt a most curious mix of humour and appaulment. One thing I kinda loved was when the movie would occasionally cut to two newscasters covering the events as they happened. Every time it cut to them it was accompanied by the sound of an angry voice yelling: DEEEEATH RAAAACE!!!! Hell yeah! So funny! Something else really funny to me was the acting of the two news people. The guy was so weird looking. (But cute!) The film was accompanied throughout by the most crappy, grungy, dumb hardcore rap. It sure gets infectious, though! I like the two colourful "songs" that cover the credits. I finally found out the meaning of enjoying a truly bad movie. There was just something about sheer patheticness of the whole exercise that made me smile. All I had to do was look at it and listen to the music and it kept making me laugh. And laughter is good, therefore there must be something good about this movie, somewhere! This film is a complete one-off for me, by the way. I couldn't dig films like this all the time. In fact, this is the first. It's an anomaly to me, I usually like movies that I consider to be basically good! Well my idea of good anyway. This is the only time that bad was good! But as much as I enjoyed marvelling at the complete lack of style and quality on show, I didn't confuse that enjoyment with how good I know the film to actually be. I can see how most rational-minded folks will see it as the big heaping pile of garbage it truly is. Well, whatever it is, the film is nothing to get all steamed about. It's a total joke! A pathetic mess that you've just gotta laugh at. Tacky but fun. Thanks.

NOTHING against JASON STATHAM...

DEATH RACERS Theasylum.cc " Don't Get Me Wrong, I Like Jason Statham !" Butt, This is an awesome 'car wars' type film like the Original 'Death Race' with Carradine & Stallone. The cast (which we can discuss later),writers and director DID there jobs amazingly. The cars were great and by Sota FX, They need to do those cars shows or go to the Las Vegas resort with Automobile Museum. There is a Scarface Car, Lesbo Web ? sports car, GI Joe-ish Jeep, and The ICP Clown Screamer...with Product Placement speakers. The plot, YES, The plot moves along...You have a bad guy who isn't all bad and HEROES who love to kill anyone in their way. Cast: Insane Clown Posse are very likable in a PENNYWISE from "IT" kind of way, Again setting Clowndom back aways . Raven from WWE does a journeyman job as bad guy, Work more sir. Dustin Fitzsimmons (guy with video camera) has the most to do besides ICP and his character goes thru some 'bad ju-ju'. Robert Pike Daniel as governor is quite a character, Not changing any views in a election year. Damien Puckler (metal man) In a suit by Makeup Guru Joe Castro. Damien might have one of the BEST non-speaking roles, YOU just plain rock-Sir !Kind of a riff on Vernon Wells Mohawked Baddie from 'Mad Max'. Stephen Blackehart (tv host) was one of my first interviews with my old site and Is finally getting the meaty roles with Theasylum and Full Moon. Minor( but favorable) mention goes to : Jason Ellefson- He was great as a Scarface " Tony Montana" issued mess of a driver, This is a minor accolade, Because YOU WERE SO MEAN in "Street Racer" ! ... Also Ken Hall and his fabricators and Chris Watson for your editing prowess on trailer.

Much Clown Love

I've seen worst big budget movies. I liked it due to being a huge ICP fan. If ICP wasn't in it I wouldn't much care.

Post-civil war dystopian clown carnage
Chase_Witherspoon7 February 2024
Utterly butchers the novel sci-fi concept first introduced by Roger Corman in 1975's 'Death Race 2000', this non-event is marginally more professional than a home movie attributable to the appearance of hip-hop duo Insane Clown Posse. The cinematography is often so over exposed it's actually difficult to see what's happening on the screen (which may not be a bad thing), suffice to say distinguishing protagonists from antagonists is made more difficult by the fact everyone is either a criminal or a corrupt official.

In between the beatings I was able to discern that the barking Governor is trying to subdue a sarin gas attack using the death race as a means to locate and destroy the conspirators, whilst the competitors are vying for freedom at any cost. Gleaning that much from the dreadfully looped dialogue and disjointed editing was an accomplishment, and I may have missed some details, but I'm not watching it again to clarify.

Souped-up engines made to look like post-apocalyptic death machines, gallons of corn syrup and a boot load of fake limbs do little to enhance the quality of this ultra-low budget garbage. Not even a pair of leather-clad ladies with attitude (Keith & Corcoran) can save this wreck from the scrapyard. There's sado-masochism (via a mechanically assisted simulated rape scene), and enough bloody beatings, stabbing, slashing and stomping that it becomes tedious very quickly. Ironically though, there's very little actual racing happening, if you can even call it that - the title is a misnomer perhaps due to the micro budget and cost of fuel.

Chaotic like a WWE spectacle but with even less orchestration and structure, and disappointingly nothing comedic (black or otherwise) to laugh at, just an all-round mess of a movie made worse by the bizarre replay editing and mostly abysmal acting (with Keith and Corcoran being borderline exceptions). Unless you're a dedicated ICP fan, this may be one to avoid.

Yes its bad...

Death Racers is a the typical "Asylum" movie ripping off a mainstream release (in this case "Death Race"). Death Racers is a cheap mix between the original Death Race 2000, Mad Max and Escape from NY, all with the worst editing work you can imagine. Its not all worthless, there are some bits of enjoyable stuff here and there but all in all is boring and is hard to watch it full without fast forward it. I found it better than other Asylum movies, this one at least have more action and some blood and gore, but being better that other Asylum movies doesn't make a movie watchable. Movies like Transmorfers are just plain unwatchable. This one gets a 4/10
