Cbbc will air an Educating Essex-style show following young pupils' move from primary to secondary school.
Our School will focus on the 11-year-olds making the jump to their new academy, as they meet their new classmates and figure out how to get around the new buildings.
The show, which is filmed in the North East of England, will examine everything from friendships to lessons over a 15-part series.
"The move from primary to secondary school is something that we know our audience thinks and worries about," said Cbbc executive producer Kez Margrie.
"We all remember how it feels to be thrown into this big new world and we wanted to reflect that back at our audience, to show that they are not alone in how they feel and to let them know that it's not as scary as they think.
"We're looking forward to seeing the real life stories the series uncovers.

Creatives have always punctured power by exposing its funny side, welcoming those who might shy away from controversy
• Jonathan Wakeham's top 10 satirical comedies
Fifty years ago, Stanley Kubrick co-wrote and directed the film Dr Strangelove. It's now a comedy classic, but it was adapted from a book called Red Alert by an Raf officer named Peter George – an entirely serious indictment of the supposedly failsafe systems designed to prevent nuclear war.
Kubrick was fascinated by nuclear conflict. But the more he read about the situation, the more he became convinced that a realistic treatment simply couldn't dramatise the absurdity of the situation: that each side possessed enough weaponry to destroy the world several times over; that winning a nuclear war was like winning a suicide race.
What emerged was not the serious drama that Peter George had intended, but a dark and brilliant comedy that still informs the way we look at global conflict.

Making Charlie Sheen mad is a bad idea. And bullying Charlie Sheen's daughter is apparently a very bad idea. The girl's former school has unfortunately learned this after the actor called for supporters to smear dog poop on the school in protest.
The source of this rather insane protest is a bullying incident involving Sheen's 9-year-old daughter, Sam. The actor alleges that another girl bullied Sam last year. Because of the bullying, Sheen and ex-wife Denise Richards removed their daughter from the school in March 2012.
Now, Sheen is ready to go on the offensive against what he considers the improper handling of the incident by the Viewpoint School of Calabasas, California. As Sheen explained to TMZ.com, "There's no statute of limitations on bullying... [the school] should be ashamed of itself for allowing the bullying to go on and try to hide it." After urging fans on Twitter to deliver "a rotted egg a roll of toilet paper or some dog sh-t" to his daughter's school where she was bullied, Charlie Sheen is, as always, unapologetic about his comments.
Sheen spoke to TMZ, saying the Los Angeles school "should be ashamed of itself for allowing the bullying to go on and try to hide it."
But Viewpoint School, where the 47-year-old actor's 9-year-old daughter attended, claims it investigated the incident last year and took the necessary action. A statement the school released on Thursday reads as follows:
"Viewpoint School's highest priority is the safety, security and education of our students. Like all responsible schools across our nation, we are concerned when any individual uses a social media forum to encourage actions that may risk the safety and security of any school. A film that tells the story of integrating three “gypsy” children into the mainstream school system in a small Eastern European town captured the Sterling award in the U.S. film category Saturday at the AFI-Discovery Silverdocs documentary film festival in Silver Spring, Maryland. In "Our School," directors Mona Nicoara and Miruna Coca-Cozma follow three students in Romania over a period of four years, with an eye toward documenting barriers to providing access to education in a race- based, hierarchical society, after the town, in 2006, receives funds in exchange for promising to...

Among the dozen documentaries in competition this year at the Tribeca Film Festival's World Documentary Feature section, we find Mona Nicoara and Miruna Coca-Cozma's Our School (Școala noastră), a bitter-sweet story about hope and race, and an elegy about generational prejudice and squandered opportunities. The 94-minute long doc was shot over the course of four years and it follows three Roma (often called Gypsy) children – Alin, Beniamin and Dana – as they struggle to break the barriers of segregation, candidly challenging entrenched stereotypes and trying to make the best of the cards dealt to them by adults along the way. The film begins in 2006, as the children are moved from a dead-end segregated school on the outskirts of Târgu Lăpuș, Romania, into a mainstream school in the center of town, where they will learn together with Romanians. Once in the mainstream school, the children’s hopes and optimism are met...

These are just the World Narrative and Documentary competition selections, so, there’ll be more announcements made later. I do see representation from South Africa, Egypt and Rwanda. As I always do, I’ll be taking a closer look at the lineup for any titles worth profiling on this website. The festival runs from April 20th to May 1st. It’s in my backyard, so you know I’ll be covering it!

#36. Our School - Mona Nicoara and Miruna Coca-Cozma Since her film debut (as associate producer) on the 2001 Sundance Special Jury Prize winning Children Underground, Mona Nicoara has been hard at work on her filmmaking debut. Offering one more snapshot of the children in her native Romania, Our School - an Ifp and Sundance Lab supported project that Nicoara co-directed with Miruna Coca-Cozma should find a spot in the World Documentary Comp section. The doc tells the story of race relations in a small Transylvanian town through the eyes of Roma children struggling to break the barriers of segregation. The film follows three children - Alin, Beniamin, and Dana - as they are moved from a dead-end all-Roma school into a mainstream school together with Romanians, where they meet with varying degrees of success. As teachers reject the new Roma students, seven-year-old Alin, the youngest of the three, falters in isolation,...
