The Baby and the Accident
claudio_carvalho14 July 2015
Warning: Spoilers
Daniel informs the SG-1 that he must return to Abydos to tell to Sha're's father that he has not found her yet; otherwise the Stargate will be buried forever. Teal'c goes with him while Jack and Sam go to Washington to be decorated by the President. On the arrival, Daniel and Teal'c learn that Sha're is pregnant by Apophis and will deliver her baby in Abydos. Further, her Goa'uld is asleep to protect the baby, so Daniel is able to rekindle his love. Meanwhile Jack discovers that the secret about the Stargate has leaked to a snoopy reporter Armin Selig that blackmails him seeking confirmation.

"Secrets" is divided in two episodes, none of them engaging. Sha're and Daniel have no chemistry and life will go on to Daniel on the next episodes. The assassination of the reporter gives a different connotation to the sci-fi series. My vote is seven.

Not a bad episode, but nothing much happens

Warning: Spoilers
I enjoyed watching this episode, but the two separate stories both go nowhere. At the end of the episode, you are left wondering what the point was? The trip to Abydos didn't change anything, and neither did the trip to Washington.

For me, there was one great aspect to the episode: We learn that Sam's Dad is Skal Tura (Urza Jaddo)! Google for him, if you don't know who I mean.

and there was one interesting point: Those at the highest levels of power have to make difficult decisions that may involve killing people. It reminded me of the way Starfleet Admirals are portrayed in Star Trek. They say they are acting to protect the federation or something similar, but in practice they almost always end up ordering something that Kirk or Picard would never condone. On the flip side, I also thought of James Bond. He works for Queen and Country, and killing people is just an accepted part of his job!! It is dealt with well here, and you've left feeling that General Hammond may or may not have been involved. They leave it up to your interpretation (and imagination), which I think shows good writing and good acting.

Baby got back

An episode devoted to character development and bringing back a key character just to keep her waning storyline alive. Decent acting and good effects.

Dopey; Again

Warning: Spoilers
SPOILER: This is the second straight episode with 1 of the 4 SG1 team members experiencing a huge "family crisis". The last was Teal'c. This is with Daniel. First off, you clearly see the acting abilities which differ between James Spader and Michael Shanks playing "Daniel Jackson". On the other hand, I am glad to see "Kasuf" (Erick Avari) from the original "Stargate" (1994) film. Back to the criticism: I find it so predictable when a "System Lord" is going to use his wrist shield device, but the writers of these episodes must assume the viewing audience members are either ignorant or too stupid to realize the SG1 team shoot him first instead of last; after he has activated his shield device. I have see all 214 episodes several times, so I am obviously a big fan. However, I cannot stand the writer's assumption of stupidity by the fans. I have seen them do this precise thing at least 2 dozen times, and the writers keep doing so. It is not authentic, and film audiences can smell inauthenticity in a heartbeat; just as is done at the end of this episode. It's ridiculous. There are other episodes which I really like; in fact, most of them. This one is bad. So it's "aw shucks, better luck next time SG-1".

two episodes made into one makes it very weak

Warning: Spoilers
Strange episode because it's divided in two stories. One concerning Teal'c and Jackson returning to Abydos to tell Sha're her father that they can't find her. Remember, Jackson was once in love with her. But when they arrive they soon discover that she's still alive and living together with her father.

Further we have O'Neill and Carter going to Washington to be decorated by the president. But things go wrong because O'Neill is stopped by a journalist who tells him that he know everything about Cheyenne Mountain base and the SG-1 project. Not only that, Jackosn soon discovers that Sha're is pregnant by Apophis. But Heru'ur, the enemy of Apophis wants to get the baby when it is born.

Two stories that are here to catch sadly they jump from one story to another. They should better have divided it in two separate episodes but we are stuck with it as it is. It's funny to see O'Neill and Carter walking in Washington. We can only hope that in further episodes the story about the journalist returns but this episode containing two stories that has nothing to do with each other is misplaced.

Almost no effects to catch only at the planet Abydos we do have a fight going on.
