Stars: Jilon VanOver, Eddie Spears, Tony Denison, Jon Proudstar, Jessie Prez, Rachel Cerda | Written and Directed by Steve Laughlin
Deep Woods, the first feature from writer/director Steve Laughlin, begins in quite a different location, the opulent chrome and glass offices of the architectural firm owned by Ty Ellsworth. Ty has, seemingly out of the blue, got in touch with his college buddy Nick and suggested a hunting trip. Ty wants to “experience nature before it’s paved over” and since Nick is both Native American and a game warden, who better to go with?
For the film’s first half hour, Laughlin gives us a contrast between the world Ty knows and the rural, backwoods area Nick lives in. A tribal dance, talk of wendigos, a run-in with some loggers at a bar and of course, warnings from Sheriff Hadden to stay on the trails once they’re in the woods.

It is no secret that the genre of horror is saturated, like a wet diaper, with films that should never really have been made, films that are so bad they’re, well, bad. I know that sometimes a film is made that is often a train-wreck yet manages to be entertaining, but surrounding those films exists a bunch of motion picture atrocities that fail on all levels, and those are the films I’ll be looking at in this column. Now, you might not agree with the films I mention here, you might even be a fan of some of them, and that’s fine, this is merely my personal opinions on what I feel are the true horror’s of the horror genre, the poison in the water supply that made me, when I saw them, want to Linda Blair my guts against the nearest wall. These are in...

I’ve had my eye on the career of actress and burgeoning scream queen Jamie Bernadette since we met on the set of the upcoming film Axeman at Cutter’s Creek back in 2012, so it’s little surprise that my curiosity was piqued by the drop of the trailer for Mile Marker Seven, the latest horror feature she’s headlining. Bad things seem to happen in the forest, and she sat down with us to give us the 411.
Written and directed by first-time feature filmmakers Anthony Scarpulla and Anthony Torrez and produced by Petter Anderson, Matthew Helderman and Luke Dylan Taylor, Mile Marker Seven follows (according to the synopsis) the character of "David (actor Wil Daniels), an independent oil contractor, on the brink of semi-retirement, is brought the opportunity of a lifetime by his friend and former business partner, Barry. Everything is going just as they wished, but what they don't realize is,...

Another week, another good episode for AMC's cash-cow zombie show. Here's Ron's review of Internment...
This review contains spoilers.
4.5 Internment
Sometimes I wonder if The Walking Dead's insistence on changing behind-the-scenes personnel isn't a good thing for the show, rather than a bad thing. The move from Frank Darabont to Glen Mazzara was a huge improvement; the change from Mazzara to Scott Gimple isn't quite as dramatic an improvement, but the show still seems to be on better footing when it comes to finding a balance between character drama and crazy zombie action. It also seems to be developing some sort of consistency with its diseases, as seen by the recent sub-plot of the plague overtaking the prison.
Even if it's not wholly scientific accurate (I'm not an epidemiologist, so your infectious disease questions should be routed to someone else), there's a fairly...

Death Tunnel is an independent horror film loosely based on the alleged hauntings of Waverly Hills Sanatorium and was actually filmed on sight. The most interesting part about this movie by far is that it is loosely based off of the tortured history of Waverly Hills. As someone who has researched Waverly Hills for four years this attracted my attention to the movie right away.

Fango heard from independent filmmaker Donovan Cerminara (pictured), who passed on info, exclusive photos (see more below) and an exclusive clip (below the pics) from his debut feature Operation: Sunrise. A co-production between Canada, Germany and Poland, shot in the latter country with cast and crew from all three as well as the UK, the movie just finished postproduction, and Cerminara is in the process of seeking distribution.
Like many recent fright features (Session 9, Death Tunnel et al.), Operation: Sunrise’s initial inspiration was derived from its key shooting location. “After visiting a property in western Poland that housed film and documentary classes,” Cerminara tells Fango, “my co-producer Florian Dedio and I realized that it could serve as the ideal ‘single location,’ with many unique locations within walking distance. So we adapted a vampire script I had been developing for some time into a story about international soldiers descending...
