Warning: Spoilers
Those first couple episodes of season 8, were clearly misleading. I barely remembered half of it, so I thought it would be season 6 all over, and fortunately I was wrong. This first half really took off with the Queen's flashbacks episode. We leaned more about his backstory (without overdoing it, like they did later on Arrow) and Tess's as well. I personally prefer her over Lex, now that he has completed his bad guy's legacy. She's very ambiguous and Cassidy Freeman plays her perfectly. The only thing I regret about those episodes though, is how eager to have Lois fall for Clark, writers seem to be. And make it look like she was waiting for Lana to be out of the picture, to make her move. It don't work. The Chloe's storyline however, is great. I see some inconsistencies too, like the fact that Brainiac would free Clark and Kara through her. But it's no big bother either. Davis is whiny, but it makes him human I guess. And judging by how he was on « Being Human » that actor simply loves playing the tortured soul apparently. Like I said on my previous review, « Bride » is a Cloverfield homage though and through. But is also full of twists and turns, and marks Lana's triumphant return. I know some will find it useless, but her and Clark need to get closure without « us » regretting anything. And Kristin Kreuk is such an important part of the show, and so beautiful, even that butt ugly haircut looks good on her... The closing scene is superb. The song they picked, Lois and Lana falling in and out of love, Brainiac Chloe rising and that shot of « Lex », were spectacularly soapy, but I loved it. Let's see if part. 2 lives up to those high expectations.
