It’s been 17 long years since “Rules of Attraction” director Roger Avary has released a film, during which time he was involved in a deadly car crash, charged with gross vehicle manslaughter, saw a work furlough translated into actual prison time, and watched things go south with Video Archives amigo Quentin Tarantino over the “Pulp Fiction” credit fiasco. Those are setbacks that might break the spine of a lesser scribe, but in Avary’s case, it seems to have strengthened his resolve to write — although until now, virtually nothing has been produced to show for it. Not for lack of trying. Some people are good at directing movies, and others are good at getting movies to direct. Avary hustled a number of projects, and somehow, “Lucky Day” was the first to get made.
The movie marks a curious comeback, . Where Avary’s other films have innovated and unsettled, this one’s clever but safe,...

I got the opportunity this week to watch the film Lucky Day, which was written and directed by Roger Avary, who wrote alongside Tarantino for Pulp Fiction, which this film felt like an homage or distant cousin to. The action/revenge flick stars Luke Bracey as Red, a safe-cracking thief who has just gotten out of prison, his beautiful wife, a french artist played by Nina Dobrev, their daughter, Ella Ryan Quinn, his best friend and literal partner in crime, Clé Bennett, their nanny, Nadia Farès, and Red’s hardened parole officer, Clifton Collins Jr., and Crispin Glover plays Luc, the assassin hellbent on a revenge mission that includes taking Red out for good.
Each portrayal was quirky, honest, and darkly funny. I was able to interview the actors Nina Dobrev and Crispin Glover about their experiences in portraying these characters, and we spoke a bit about what they each have coming up.

Lionsgate has released a super fun red-band trailer for an awesome looking action revenge thriller called Lucky Day. The movie comes from writer and director Roger Avary, who is best known as the co-writer of Quentin Tarantino's Pulp Fiction.
The story for the film follows Red (Luke Bracey), a safe cracker who has just been released from prison. As he is trying to hold his family together his past catches up with him in the form of Luc (Crispin Glover), a psychopathic contract killer who's seeking revenge for the death of his brother.
It’s always great to see Glover get great weird roles, and the character he plays in Lucky Day is a fantastic role for him! Just wait till you see him in action and what his character is like. The film also stars Nina Dobrev, Ella Ryan Quinn, Clé Bennett, Nadia Farès, and Clifton Collins Jr....

"Ugh I just got out of the joint, mate, literally this morning." Lionsgate has released one final red band trailer for the Us release of Lucky Day, the latest from the infamous writer / director Roger Avary (best known as the co-writer of Tarantino's Pulp Fiction). We've featured two other trailers for this already, but one more can't hurt. Right? If anyone even cares. Lucky Day stars Luke Bracey as Red, a safe cracker who has just been released from prison, trying to hold his family together as his past catches up to him in the form of Luc, played by Crispin Glover, a psychopathic contract killer who's seeking revenge for the death of his brother. The film also stars Nina Dobrev, Ella Ryan Quinn, Clé Bennett, Nadia Farès, and Clifton Collins Jr. This looks so insanely ultra-violent I don't even know if I want to see it. Does anyone? Here's...

The odd lost-in-time film was produced in France, and opens there first before arriving in the Us later this fall. We have a crazy trailer for you to check out for the film Lucky Day. The film has a Tarantino-like feel to it, which makes sense because it was written and directed by Roger Avery, who worked alongside Tarantino in writing Pulp Fiction, as well as working on True Romance and Reservoir Dogs. The film stars Luke Bracey, Nina Dobrev (The Vampire Diaries), Crispin Glover (Back to the Future), newcomer Ella Ryan Quinn, and Clifton Collins Jr.. Here’s the synopsis for the film:
Red, a safe cracker who has just been released from prison, is trying to hold his family together as his past catches up with him in the form of Luc, a psychopathic contract killer who's seeking revenge for the death of his brother.
This looks like it will be a wild ride from start to finish! I am super excited about it. Check out the trailer and poster below,...

"It has been a long time..." Metropolitan Films in France has debuted the first official trailer for Lucky Day, a new film by the infamous writer / director Roger Avary (best known as the co-writer of Tarantino's Pulp Fiction). While IMDb says he has another film in the can, technically this is the first one he has made since 2004 that will actually be released. At least in France, since this is a French production, but not sure about anywhere else.
