Jazmin is getting her happily ever after in this Thursday’s episode of Freeform’s “Good Trouble.” In a sneak peek, exclusive to TheWrap, the bride walks down the aisle, beaming with joy on her big day.
Set to an instrumental version of Camila Cabello’s “Havana,” the clip features Jazmin, played by “Pose” actress Hailie Sahar, smiling as she waltzes down the aisle in a beautiful off-the-shoulder wedding gown. As she’s walking, she pauses to put her hand to her ear before waving at the crowd, encouraging them to cheer for her and her soon-to-be husband, Spencer.
The camera pans, and we see the Coterie family — including Malika (Zuri Adele), Alice (Sherry Cola), and Dennis (Josh Pence) — beaming as they clap for her. Even though she doesn’t live at The Coterie, she’s always been part of the fray as Gael’s (Tommy Martinez) sister.

Oscar winner Halle Berry made a special appearance at Sunday’s Critics Choice Awards to accept the SeeHer award, a prize that recognizes a woman who pushes boundaries and defies stereotypes. Berry’s career — which spans more than 30 years as an actor, producer and now director — easily fits that bill.
Berry was presented the honor by “Insecure” creator and star Issa Rae, who Berry thanked for her inspiring work. “You have rearranged the way we see ourselves as women of color on television and in the world,” she said at the beginning of her rousing acceptance speech.
As she reflected on her time in entertainment, Berry spoke about her road to star in and direct “Bruised,” a film about a Black woman Mma fighter. Berry recalled the first time she read the script, “I realized that it wasn’t written for someone that looked like me. So I went to the producers and I said,...

It was a reunion for Angelica Ross, Indya Moore, Michaela Jaé Rodriguez, Dominique Jackson, and Hailie Sahar at Sunday's Critics' Choice Awards. The group, who starred in "Pose" together, had a glamorous night out at the Los Angeles ceremony. In addition to posing for photos together on the red carpet, the cast served as presenters.
Following Rodriguez's historic win at the Golden Globe Awards in January, "Pose" was nominated in three categories at this year's ceremony: Billy Porter was up for best actor in a drama series for his role as Pray Tell, Rodriguez was nominated for best actress in a drama series for her portrayal of Blanca Evangelista; and the FX show received a nod for best drama series. Sadly, "Pose" didn't end up taking home any trophies.
Even though "Pose" came to an end in 2021 after three glorious seasons, we're glad to see the cast is still close.

The Critics Choice Awards annually honor achievements in cinematic and television work. They often set the stage in terms of Oscar award winners as well. The Critics Choice Association is the largest critics organization in the United States and Canada, representing more than 525 media critics and entertainment journalists. It was established in 2019 with the formal merger of the Broadcast Film Critics Association and the Broadcast Television Journalists Association, recognizing the intersection between film, television and streaming content.
“Belfast” and “West Side Story” lead this year’s Critics Choice Awards film contenders with eleven nominations each. In addition to a Best Picture nod, “Belfast” received nominations for Best Supporting Actor for both Jamie Dornan and Ciarán Hinds, Best Supporting Actress for Caitríona Balfe, Best Young Actor/Actress for Jude Hill, and Best Acting Ensemble, while Kenneth Branagh could take home both the Best Director and Best Original Screenplay trophies.

The Allblk, streaming service for Black TV and film from AMC Networks, announced the world premiere of Beyond Ed Buck, streaming Thursday, February 24.
Co-executive produced by Jayce Baron and Pose star, Hailie Sahar, Beyond Ed Buck begins by examining and analyzing the tragic deaths of Gemmel Moore (2017) and Timothy Dean (2019), two gay Black men who died at the hands of democratic political donor, Ed Buck. Buck was found guilty of several charges, including supplying fatal doses of methamphetamine to both men in July of last year.
True to its title, the anti-crime documentary goes beyond the Ed Buck case to unpack internalized homophobia, the psychological root of predatory behaviors, and to provide a deeper exploration of challenges faced by the Black and Brown LGBTQ+ community – particularly how a variety of systemic social and economic issues have led gay and trans identified people to become victims of predators looking to satisfy...

Steven Canals revealed what his acceptance speech would’ve sounded like at the Emmy Awards if his groundbreaking series Pose had been celebrated for its final season Sunday night.
“Well, @poseonfx didn’t take home any Emmys last night but that doesn’t change how proud I am of our final season. Here’s what I would have said had I made it up on that stage. All of this will always hold true,” he captioned the photo of his prepared speech.
“The reason I get to stand up here as an openly queer Afro-Latin person is because of my ancestors,” his speech opens. “In 1969, the fight for the Trans and Queer liberation reached a fever pitch, built on the backs of the women, who happened to be Trans and Lesbian. Who happened to be Black and Latina. And so I want to honor Marsha P Johnson, Sylvia Rivera, Miss Major,...

Exclusive: There’s going to be an imperial reunion of sorts on Unmentionables.
In development, the adult animated series about mismatched underwear and the millennial human who wears them will be executive produced by Anthony Hemingway and Taraji P. Henson. The Emmy-winning director was behind the camera of Fox’s landmark Empire. Multiple Emmy nominee Henson was of course the unflinching Cookie Lyon on the primetime hip hop soap created by Lee Daniels and Danny Strong.
Created by Young Shelton and Netflix’s Special vets Danielle Pinnock and Punam Patel, Unmentionables will also see Taraji P. Henson Productions’ Christine Conley as an EP, along with Whitney Davis for Anthony Hemingway Productions.
“I’m incredibly grateful and blessed to have an intelligent and thoughtful team of collaborators that align with my vision which is focused on telling meaning stories that shape culture, shift the narrative and change lives,” Hemingway told Deadline.

Not only is Mj Rodriguez finally getting the recognition she deserves for her role as Blanca Evangelista on Pose - after years of Emmy Awards snubs - but her recent lead actress nomination is also a historic one. On July 13, Rodriguez became the first transgender woman in the history of the ceremony to be recognized in a lead acting category. With her nomination, she became the third openly transgender person to be nominated for an acting Emmy, joining Laverne Cox, who was the first transgender person to be nominated with a nomination for outstanding guest actress in a comedy series for her work on 2014's Orange Is the New Black, and Rain Valdez, who earned a nomination for outstanding actress in a short-form comedy or drama series for 2020's Razor Tongue. Pose earned a total of eight nominations for the 2021 award ceremony, including outstanding drama series and lead actor for Billy Porter.

“Pose” ends its run this June after three seasons. It’s a groundbreaking drama with more trans actors of color as series regulars than any other program in television history. And it’s an Emmy-winning show that earned a Best Drama Series nomination in 2019 for its first season. So it’s kind of surprising that so far it has zero trans representation in acting categories. Will that change this year?

June 6 marks the series finale of Pose, a drama that enlightened the masses about 1980s and ’90s ballroom culture in New York that served as a haven of family and love for the Lgbtqia+ community — specifically for trans people of color. The finale aligns with the kickoff of Pride Month, and for Steven Canals, who created the series alongside Ryan Murphy and Brad Falchuk, this is an end of a groundbreaking era of television and the start of a career destined to flourish.
For three seasons, Pose has put shine on the impact and influence ballroom culture has had on the masses. Deeper than that, it chronicled the history of the HIV and AIDS epidemic, tackled gender identity and the experiences of queer people of color that often go unseen and unheard. Spoiler alert: Do not read this column if you have not seen the May 30 “Something Old, Something New” episode of FX’s “Pose.”
“Pose,” the FX series wrapping its three-season run in June, is a show that’s always been comfortable using exaggeration as a sort of wishful metaphor. Consider the show’s first episode, in which Dominique Jackson’s character leads a museum heist in order to ransack historical finery to wear at a ball. The characters, along with their show, use wit and ambition to procure clothes worn by royals, and redistribute them to Black drag artists and trans women. By bending reality, the show reclaimed the visual language of wealth and power. To mention that such a heist seemed unrealistic at best isn’t just not in the spirit of “Pose.” It is irrelevant to what the show was doing.

“Pose” executive producer Janet Mock rocked the Season 3 premiere event on Thursday night with an emotional speech calling out Hollywood and even series co-creator Ryan Murphy, according to reports.
“I’m hurting, y’all. I see injustice and it hurts me inside,” Mock said at the in-person event in New York City, according to the Daily Beast. She praised the FX show’s stars, including Hailie Sahar, Dominique Jackson, Angelica Ross and Mj Rodriguez, but took aim at the industry’s treatment of trans talent. “When a talent asks you for a suite, you give them a suite because they need it,” she said.
“Why am I making $40,000 a motherf—ing episode? Huh?” she asked, calling for compensation in line with that of other producers. “I am angry. This is truth.

In what Hollywood hopes is a sign that live events are finally on the rebound, FX and 20th Television launched the third and final season of “Pose” with a red carpet premiere Thursday night in New York.
The event was held indoors at Rose Theater at Jazz at Lincoln Center. The socially-distanced, 200-foot carpet included clear plastic barriers between photographers. Reporters conducting interviews were spaced about six feet apart. Talent and reporters were kept four feet apart. The carpet itself was light blue and flecked with sparkles.
Walking the carpet were “Pose” stars Mj Rodriguez, Billy Porter, Dominique Jackson, Indya Moore, Hailie Sahar, Dyllón Burnside, Angel Bismark Curiel, Sandra Bernhard, Jason Rodriguez and Angelica Ross. Series co-creators Ryan Murphy, Brad Falchuk and Steven Canals were also in attendance as were Season 3 guest stars Jeremy Pope, Jeremy McClain and Noma Dumezweni.

For Steven Canals, the co-creator of the groundbreaking FX drama Pose, highlighting the stories of the House of Evangelista was first a selfish act. However, days before the final chapter premieres Sunday, Canals said Pose has evolved to support, represent, validate and celebrate the members of the Black, Latinx, Afro-Latinx and LGBTQ+ communities and other marginalized groups.
“It will not be and it will never be lost on me that alongside Janet Mock and Ryan Murphy, that for us this show was created by and for our community,” he said. “I hope that if nothing else, all of the folks out there who happen to be part of the LGBTQ+ community and all of those folks who happen to be Black and brown, that they always know that I and all of my collaborators and this wildly talented and beautiful cast, that we will always have your back, we will always see you,...

Since its premiere in 2018, “Pose” has been glamor-kicking down doors previously welded closed, and from the looks of this debut trailer, the team shows no sign of slowing down. As it did between the first and second seasons, the narrative will jump ahead a few years, this time landing in 1994, with AIDS still devastating the queer and trans community.
Here’s what we know so far about the rest of the plot, courtesy of FX:

The groundbreaking series was renewed for a third season back in 2019. The seven-episode final season is now set to debut on May 2 at 10 p.m. Et, with two episodes airing that night. The series finale will air on June 6.

FX’s award-winning series “Pose” is planning to return to production in October.

Another year, another chance to recognize Black and Latinx trans actors squandered. The 2020 Emmy nominations are out, and while I'm not surprised that Pose was snubbed once again, I am disappointed. FX's Ryan Murphy-produced series revolves around the underground ball culture world of 1980s NYC, and it's made history by featuring the largest cast of transgender actors in series regular roles ever. Pose is a show that celebrate the Black and Latinx trans experience, and award shows continually fail to celebrate the trans actors who bring that experience to life.
"Only 11 LGBTQ actors earned nominations in acting categories. Exactly zero of those 11 nominees are trans."
In 2019, Billy Porter even became the first openly gay Black man to win an Emmy for outstanding lead actor in a drama series for his role as Pray Tell, but so far, not a single other Pose cast member has received so much as an Emmy nomination.
