Spoler Alert: Madam Secretary ended its six season run with President Elizabeth McCord (Tea Leoni) and first husband Henry (Tim Daly) kissing on the back of a caboose, as the residents of a small town cheer and the train pulls away.

That the show ended onboard a whistlestop tour, a remant of a bygone and simpler era, was an apt way to wrap the series. The show’s hopeful tone and neatly wrapped scenarios often were an alternate political universe to the cynical and polarized Trump years.
That was especially true of McCord’s policy agenda. Also in the final episode, McCord was joined by members of the World Cup Champion U.S. Women’s Soccer team,...

There was high drama on the Madam Secretary set on Friday, and it was most definitely not scripted.
According to TMZ, police were called to the set of the CBS drama series when a fight broke out among background actors.
This is said to have played out immediately after leading lady Tea Leoni filmed a scene in which she delivered a speech.
The outlet states that a background actor started a fight at the snacks and refreshments table. Yes, really.
Yes, this whole thing seemingly kicked off because of food.

Apparently, there were over a hundred background actors involved in the scene above, and things are said to have taken a horrifying turn when they "swarmed" the coffee and snacks table during a break.
TMZ says that one actor cut the line, and a female staffer on the set told him to get to the back.

Madam Secretary is losing a series regular ahead of its final season.
TV Line is reporting that Sara Ramirez is stepping down as a series regular, but there's hope that she could return for a guest appearance to wrap up her character's storyline.
Ramirez has played Kat Sandoval on the political drama since the fourth season. She was drafted in to replace Bebe Neuwirth, who played Nadine Tolliver.
If you watch Madam Secretary online, you know that Kat had left the world of politics behind prior to Elizabeth managing to bring her back into it.
Ramirez is best known for her role on the ABC medical juggernaut Grey's Anatomy. She departed the series after over a decade in the role in 2016.

Spoiler Alert: This article contains details about the season 5 finale of Madam Secretary.
Based on the events leading up to the season finale of CBS’ Madam Secretary, it seems like this episode would be, for the most part, smooth sailing for Tea Leoni’s Elizabeth McCord. It seems like the climate migration treaty is good to go and she is all set to make her announcement to run for President. All is good in the world, right? Not so fast. It wouldn’t be an episode of Madam Secretary without some peril to shake things up.
The episode titled “Better Angels” directed by John Murray and written by Matt Ward starts off with Peter Harriman (Skipp Sudduth) getting ready for the day as he puts his lucky vintage Rfk presidential pin on his lapel. For once, a convoluted backstory that made sense and was interesting.
Russian's interference in both Polish politics and American hate groups grounded Madam Secretary Season 5 Episode 2. It also set up the first major arc for the season.
This won't be the first time that Russia has been cast as the big bad of a season, but that's not surprising considering that the writing staff tries to keep things true to life.
And the Russians have a history as bad actors on the world stage. The reference to bot farms was torn from the headlines of the past two years. There's a lot more for the writer's room to draw on.
The poisoning of a British man, the Panama papers, aligning with Assad in Syria, the seizing of Crimea, shooting down airliners, the unsubstantiated but probable blackmailing of foreign leaders...Russia is a veritable feast of storylines.

CBS still hasn't cancelled its Madam Secretary TV show, despite Nielsen ratings declines in both its 18-49 year old demo and total viewership numbers. In the 2016-17 television season, this show's demo ratings ranked 20th out of 26 scripted CBS series, but it drew enough viewers to rank eighth in terms of audience size. Although the Tiffany Network's viewers tend to skew older, how long will this show's performance suffice? Since the fourth season should give it a decent sized package to sell in syndication, will Madam Secretary be cancelled or renewed for season five? Stay tuned. A political drama airing on the CBS television network, Madam Secretary stars Téa Leoni, Tim Daly, Bebe Neuwirth, Željko Ivanek, Keith Carradine, Sebastian Arcelus, Patina Miller, Geoffrey Arend, Erich Bergen, Kathrine Herzer, Wallis Currie-Wood, and Evan Roe. The drama follows the shrewd, determined Elizabeth McCord (Leoni). As U.S. Secretary of...

The Tiffany Network is still with her. CBS has renewed its Madam Secretary TV show for a fifth season. This was a real squeaker. With the series' bottom-of-the-barrel demo performance, as well as its declining total audience size, since it already has a decent syndication package, the cancellation chances were very real. A CBS political drama, Madam Secretary stars Téa Leoni, Tim Daly, Bebe Neuwirth, Željko Ivanek, Keith Carradine, Sebastian Arcelus, Patina Miller, Geoffrey Arend, Erich Bergen, Kathrine Herzer, Wallis Currie-Wood, and Evan Roe. Elizabeth got herself into -- and out of -- one hell of a complicated situation on Madam Secretary Season 4 Episode 17. While I normally enjoy a focus on the staff, this convoluted mess demanded our full attention.
Well, almost. We did have to get Henry settled in his new job. Gotta love how it took the board two years to read his memo and approve it, but they needed that seat filled in less than a week.
This is the second episode where Dalton has ignored Elizabeth's advice. Maybe ignored is too strong a word, he definitely heard her out, but he's ultimately gone in the opposite direction of her recommendation.
That seems a little odd, considering their long standing friendship. Just look at how he relied on her when he was having doubts about coming back to the White House. That wasn't even that long ago!

Dasvidaniya, Mitya.
With the exit of our favorite Russian on Madam Secretary Season 4 Episode 11, Henry's guilt has been assuaged. For now. I wouldn't be surprised to have Stevie throw her lover's exile back in her father's face at some point.
While far from the most important plot that Dmitri's been involved with, his romance with Stevie McCord has been my favorite. It's really a shame that those two crazy kids won't be able to make it work.
Will this latest heartbreak finally convince Stevie to head off to law school? I assume that she'll end up closer to home, barring some amazing opportunity arising for Wallis Currie-Wood.
If Stevie's going to be a pivotal character, I'd love to see her in a situation where nepotism, however unintentional, doesn't work for her.
Dmitri: I'm so sorry, Stevie.
Stevie: No, no, I am. I didn't mean to get you...exiled or whatever.

In the CBS drama's season-one finale, Elizabeth McCord (Tea Leoni) learned that there wouldn't be espionage charges pressed against her, while Elizabeth and Henry's (Tim Daly) daughter Stevie (Wallis Currie-Wood) began a potentially problematic relationship with President Dalton's (Keith Carradine) son, Harrison (Jason Ralph). Executive producers Barbara Hall — who created the show — and Lori McCreary spoke to The Hollywood Reporter about Elizabeth stepping up to the plate when the president's plane vanishes and executive producer Morgan Freeman auditioning for his role

Madam Secretary, Season 1, Episodes 18-22
Created by Barbara Hall
Airs Sundays at 8pm (Et) on CBS
The final few episodes leading up to the season finale have been very episodic, with the season finale tying up all loose ends into a very satisfying conclusion. Each episode delivers an interesting and clear standalone crisis situation that is interwoven well with the ongoing narrative. The series as a whole has been one of the finest and consistently entertaining shows from last year’s fall lineup. Madam Secretary manages to keep interest by presenting honest and relateable characters in situations that are compelling and diverse, and has a strong perspective. This political procedural drama has truly grown into an impressive and worthy television staple that has earned its second season order.

Madam Secretary, Season 1, Episodes 8-11
Airs Sundays at 8pm Et on CBS
The first half of Madam Secretary Season one has come to a close with the fall finale, “Game On”, where we get some momentum in the investigation of the former Secretary of the State’s murder. The season has been very consistently well paced, offering interesting characters and political drama with the underlying intrigue of a murder conspiracy that has been building throughout the season. This included the possible involvement of White House Chief of Staff Russell Jackson and the President of the United States, and was resolved in the last episode. The resolution is indicative of the type of series that Madam Secretary is trying to be, a show that addresses political issues with idealism rather than pessimism. This is working for the series in distinguishing itself from other political shows like House of Cards, which presents...

Madam Secretary, Season 1, Episodes 2-7
Airs Sundays at 8pm Et on CBS
Madam Secretary has progressed impressively within its first handful of episodes, continuing to display a great lead character along with a supporting cast that has slowly, but increasingly, shown interesting development. The pilot set the stage with its strong writing and talented cast, yet also underwhelmed with its political drama and generic production values. But the series has continued to build on its strengths and has improved enough that it’s no longer marred by its pilot’s weaknesses. The lead character is well crafted and so are her relationships with the supporting cast, which makes for greater clarity between the character’s main narrative and the political drama, with a better integrated story and more development. The only potential faults of these early episodes is that at times, the writers sacrifice narrative complexity for optimistic and comprehensive storytelling,...
