Designer and former ‘Runway’ contestant Michael Costello talks us through the Season 11 premiere episode in his latest recap. The latest crop of designers learn that this entire season will focus on teamwork — which can only mean even more drama!
“You’re only as strong as your weakest link,” Tim Gunn says as he and Heidi Klum reveal that Season 11 of Project Runway is going to be a team competition. Even though there is no I in team, only one will come out as the winner of Project Runway. Let’s see if “team work really makes the dream work,” as was proposed in the episode. This should be interesting…
Does working in teams mean there will be less drama between designers? I’ll miss the old Project Runway but I’m so excited to see how designers work and grow with the input of a team this season.

We've only just said goodbye to the contestants of Project Runway's tenth season, and it's already time for a second go 'round for our All Stars! This season is a bit of a mixed bag - there's Joshua McKinley (the runner-up of the ninth cycle), Emilio Sansa, Althea Harper, Anthony Ryan Auld, Suede Baum, Laura Kathleen Planck, Ivy Higa, Peach Carr, Casanova, Uli Herzner, Kayne Gillaspie and Andrae Ganzalo. I only remember a handful of these people, but oh well. The group meets up at Parson's for the first time, where they continually call one another "amazing" in various forms. But wait - there's another contestant, and it's the hilariously amazing (pardon the expression) Wendy Pepper from season one! She's been known as a total bitch (not my words, I swear) and she's vowed not to change this time around, either - after all, (more)...

Peach Carr was the first designer eliminated in the second season of Project Runway: All Stars, and she said she was "mortified" over it.
The first challenge called for the designers to split up into two teams and create a mini collection centered around a word: one team chose "bold," while the other chose "confident." Carr, a 52-year-old tenniswear designer from lake Forest, Ill., admitted she was out of her element, using fabrics she had never worked with before and creating a design that didn't really fit with her aesthetic in order to fit ...

After the underwhelming Season Ten of Project Runway, I'm not sure it was a good idea for Lifetime to plunge immediately into a new cycle, as its easy to experience burnout (and this is the second All Stars series this year).
But luckily, this batch of designers is road tested for drama, skill and just a drop of crazy, so maybe they can deliver some excitement ...or at least, tears and slapfights.
The designers meet up, get acquainted (or re-acquainted), new host Carolyn Murphy informs them that the winner will receive the biggest prize in Runway history, with cash and fashion crap totaling $350,000 dollars, and then they are immediately thrust into the the thick of things (this series is only an hour an episode, which adds to the frenzy and eliminates the dull spots, thankfully).
Mentor Joanna Coles has them choose teams, and each team is assigned to create a mini collection with "attitude.

A second season of "Project Runway: All Stars" kicked off and brought with it a new host/judge in Carolyn Murphy. She was joined by returning judges Isaac Mizrahi and Georgina Chapman to help a new batch of thirteen contestants seen previously on the original "Project Runway." None of them have won before.
Perhaps the most infamous returning face belongs to Wendy Pepper, who came in third during the first season. She was the first villain of the series, and it was evident that her fame preceded her. When it came time for the team captains of this first challenge to assemble their teams via schoolyard pick, Wendy was the last one chosen.
Nevertheless, after their first day of work, the team seemed ready to embrace her, offering a toast to her. "From one bitch to another, Wendy Pepper!" said Joshua McKinley.
"I was totally taken aback," Wendy admitted in a confessional.

We can quibble about the name Project Runway: All-Stars, since I don't see prized contestants like Nick Verreos or Jillian Lewis in this lineup, but the second installment of Lifetime's alumni competition is probably going to be entertaining all the same. Truly. There are enough wild cards at play here -- each equipped with a wildly different skill type and level -- to make the season worth a run. The only problem? We need to rank which of these all-stars is destined for success. So here, just two days shy of Thursday's premiere, my predictions for the rankings of Project Runway All-Stars' new season. Spoiler: Pretty sure I made it work, guys.
13. Peach Carr
Now, I am a human being, so I love Peach Carr, her constant catchphrasing (Loved when she said that her skirt wasn't short enough to "show the good china?), and her ritzy suburban Chicago flair.

Much as I forswore never again to take on the thankless task of recapping a Project Runway season from beginning to end like I did last year (unless, ahem, you wanna throw some major cashish my way) we have to, just simply have to, watch the PR All Stars premiere Thursday January 5 at 9/8 central on Lifetime. I mean, how can we not? So let's take a look at the contestants and try to figure out why they're putting themselves through this hell again.
First of all you need to be aware that there will be nary a leggy German supermodel with a proclivity towards short hems in sight, nor a dashing and debonair silver-haired bespectacled and impeccably dressed mentor who's been known to give out hugs on occasion, nor a famed designer who can cut one dead with merely a sentence tossed their way. Yep. No Klum, No Kors, No Gunn.

The Project Runway All Stars season premieres this Thursday (January 5th). I'm working on a theory that my favorite designer Mondo Guerra has won. Let me know what you think. Reasons are as follows:
1.) He is literally the best ever. This fact is super indisputable.
2.) Please see his answer to my first interview question below. Going back to normal life was more difficult this time???? Is it because his life has changed drastically???? Am I just putting a ton of question marks at the end of my sentences to imply something???????
3.) He seems like he has something to celebrate, because he's hosting weekly viewing parties every week at Beauty Bar in Denver starting this Thursday (which features a special guest, his Project Runway buddy Michael Costello). Each party has special games and prizes geared around the episode, and February 16th will be a super special benefit for Colorado AIDS...

Project Runway evictee Peach Carr has insisted that she does not consider herself to be an "edgy" designer. Talking with Digital Spy, the 50-year-old responded to criticism she received from judges Heidi Klum, Nina Garcia and Michael Kors, who often branded her designs "boring" and safe. "I don't know if I would call my aesthetic boring personally, that was just something they said. There was a lot of (more)...

Peach Carr has described Project Runway as an "artistic think tank". The 50-year-old Illinois native - who was eliminated this week after failing to impress judges with her design - praised her fellow designers for their creativity. "My favourite [part of the experience] was probably being in that unbelievable creative environment. I really enjoyed seeing what the other designers were doing and what their thought processes are," she told Digital Spy. "It was like being in a big artistic (more)...

Peach Carr, the Project Runway contestant eliminated in last night's episode, was the eldest and funniest member of the season eight cast, so it's disheartening to hear that one of her fellow competitors said something disparaging about her personal life that "broke her spirit" before the bridesmaid challenge. Carr talked to us this morning about her fabric choices, her friendship with April, and the remark that left her brokenhearted.

Peach Carr has become the latest designer to be eliminated from Project Runway. The 50-year-old old freelance designer from Lake Forest, Il was sent home from the Lifetime competition on last night's episode. "I've had the time of my life, this is absolutely the way it should be. I have loved every second of it, what a trip," she told the other designers. This week's challenge saw the designers having to transform a bridesmaid's dress into a fashionable outfit that the owner would want to wear again. They were also introduced to a new set of models, the "real women" who owned the dresses they were working with. Tim Gunn explained that they had to use "most" of the original dress in their new design and that they also had $$50 to spend on new material, with a maximum of two yards of fabric. Before the runway the contestants (more)...
