Prosecutors in the trial involving handwritten lyrics from the Eagles’ 1976 classic Hotel California dismissed the case on Wednesday in a surprise decision that seemingly puts an end to one of the more unusual music-related criminal trials in recent years.
In the criminal case, three men were accused of conspiring to possess stolen property. That property in question was over 100 pages of drafts of songs from the Eagles’ landmark album, written by Don Henley and Glenn Frey. The trial was heading into its third week on Wednesday when, in a letter to Judge Curtis Farber,...

A year and a half after three men were arrested for allegedly conspiring to sell handwritten lyrics to Eagles songs without the band’s consent, their trial finally began yesterday — along with its share of allegations, backstage tidbits, and a cliffhanger worthy of a fictional TV trial.
On Wednesday, the three defendants — rare-books collector Glenn Horowitz, memorabilia seller Edward Kosinski, and former Rock and Roll Hall of Fame curator Craig Inciardi — faced a judge, but no jury, in New York State Supreme Court. In the words of Assistant Manhattan District Attorney Nicholas Penfold,...

Call it the long run of rock collectors’ trials — one that’s finally scheduled to begin this week after a lengthy delay.
In one of the most high-profile cases involving the world of music memorabilia, three men were arrested in July 2022, charged with attempting to sell pages of hand-written lyrics to songs from the Eagles’ 1976 album Hotel California (and allegedly lying about the origins of the ownership). The value of the documents was reported to be more than $1 million and included drafts of songs like the title track and “Life...

In James Cameron's new sci-fi film "Avatar: The Way of Water" -- already one of the 10 highest-grossing films of all time -- our Na'Vi heroes Jake Sully (Sam Worthington) and Neytiri (Zoe Saldaña) have to move their family from the safety of Pandora's placid forests to a distant, tropical archipelago. There, they become the guests of the Metkayina, a tribe of Na'Vi that live in harmony with the oceans. The Metkayina can hold their breaths for an extended period of time, and their arms and tails have adapted for rapid swimming. Occasionally, they ride on the backs of flying ichthyosaurs, a sort of flying fish. The seas of the Metkayina are a beautiful biome of staggering alien diversity, and their villages are constructed of ropes, tents, and hammocks that hang tautly over crystal-clear lagoons from the branches of a strong, nearby tree. Like every visual aspect of the "Avatar" movies,...

Almost a year after CBS News settled a trio of sexual harassment claims against Charlie Rose, the former CBS This Morning co-host has been sued again, and this time Bloomberg LP has been pulled into the legal fray.
Ex-longtime Rose makeup artist Gina Riggi is taking the once prestigious TV frontman and the New York City-based media company to court for “a pattern of misogynistic, abusive behavior, demeaning, embarrassing and degrading her because of her gender.”
“Mr. Rose also created a toxic work environment suffused with sexual harassment and gender-based abuse for Ms. Riggi and the female staff, using the Show as an instrument of his predatory sexual behavior, and the Bloomberg studio where he recorded it as a sexual hunting ground,” Riggi adds of the ex-PBS talk show host and her 22-year stint working for him in her detailed 27-page filing (read it here) seeking a jury trial.

A former makeup artist to Charlie Rose is suing the disgraced news anchor for sexual harassment and gender-based abuse.
According to court documents filed on Thursday in New York’s Supreme Court, Gina Riggi has accused Rose of subjecting her for more than two decades to “a pattern of misogynistic, abusive behavior, demeaning, embarrassing, and degrading her because of her gender, ridiculing her physical appearance, and physically accosting her on the set, forcing her to use a hand mirror to protect herself from him.”
Riggi, who was nominated for a Daytime Emmy in 1999, was previously the head makeup artist for PBS’ “Charlie Rose” show and had been managing the production’s makeup department for over 22 years, according to the suit. (PBS cancelled Rose’s talk show in 2017 after eight women came forward to accuse Rose of sexual harassment.)

A makeup artist who worked for Charlie Rose for 22 years has filed a sexual harassment lawsuit, accusing the former CBS and PBS host of years of unlawful behavior toward female employees.
Gina Riggi alleges that Rose was verbally abusive with her and would often make derogatory comments about her weight. She also alleges that she witnessed years worth of sexually harassing behavior directed at younger female employees.
“Throughout the workday, and at work events, Mr. Rose routinely groped and pawed at his female staff, pressed himself against them, hugged them, kissed them, pulled them toward him, whispered in their ears, stared at their breasts, looked down their shirts, and otherwise subjected them to inappropriate and unwanted physical contact,” the suit alleges.
Three other female employees filed suit against Rose and CBS last year, saying that Rose habitually made sexual comments, touched their legs, and demeaned their abilities. CBS settled with the plaintiffs last year,...

Looking for his second win as a coach, Pharrell Williams has pulled together the type of diverse team we have come to expect from "The Voice" season 8 victor. Williams has a knack for convincing artists to choose him over other coaches with his low key approach and the fact he is one of the world's top music producers. Will he be able to defeat rival coaches Blake Shelton, Adam Levine, and Christina Aguilera on this 10th season of the NBC reality program? Here is a look at how I rank his remaining artists’ chances to go all the way. Take our poll at the bottom of this article to let us know your top choice to be crowned champ this year. -Break- Related: Who is your least favorite 'The Voice' coach of all time? 1. Ours is not to ask why The Voice can only fit six Battle Rounds pairings into a two-hour episode — relegating three others to the dreaded montage treatment that I’ve complained about bitterly for the last nine seasons.

Concept Art by Jonathan Bach Click Here For More Concept Art We’ve always known that Spider-Man’s most important battle has been within himself: the struggle between the ordinary obligations of Peter Parker and the extraordinary responsibilities of Spider-Man. But in The Amazing Spider-Man 2, Peter Parker finds that a greater conflict lies ahead. It’s great to be Spider-Man (Andrew Garfield). For Peter Parker, there’s no feeling quite like swinging between skyscrapers, embracing being the hero, and spending time with Gwen (Emma Stone). But being Spider-Man comes at a price: only Spider-Man can protect his fellow New Yorkers from the formidable villains that threaten the city. With the emergence of Electro (Jamie Foxx), Peter must confront a foe far more powerful than he. And as his old friend, Harry Osborn (Dane DeHaan), returns, Peter comes to realize that all of his enemies have one thing in common:...

Jonathan Bach "The idea was floated that at some point we would see where the baboons that Evanora used to do here dirty work came from and so I did some passes on an ominous home for them. The two characters in the center were done very early on for Oz: The Great and Powerful when there were a host of other minor villains from L. Frank Baum's books that we were trying out. The "Steam Bot" at the bottom was an early idea that Sam Raimi really wanted to see, and popped in and out of the movie as we were working on it. In the end it was too expensive and maybe too much of a spectacle and so was let go."
