You want to have a Taika Waititi binge-watching party? We're here to help you gather up all the films...
Taika Waititi is an Oscar winner. Let’s say that again, one of the creative masterminds behind Flight of the Conchords, and the actor who gave voice to Korg in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, has an Oscar for screenwriting—in a film where he played goofball imaginary Adolf Hitler, no less. The world’s a funny place isn’t it?
Yet it also has a habit of reminding you that a talent as electric (and eccentric) as Waititi is impossible to quantify as just one thing. To millions of fans, he might be the groovy directorial eye behind Thor: Ragnarok, yet he really is so much more. Whether you’re already a fan or a novice, here is where you can stream every movie Taika Waititi has directed.

The New Zealand film Boy (2010) will receive a North American home entertainment release on July 9, 2013. Several years ago I travelled through the South Island of New Zealand with a group of close friends and was amazed by the diversity and stark contrast between eco-regions. Sadly we didn't have time or plans to make it across to the North Island, but I vowed to go back especially to see the Maori inhabitants in their rural setting. The East Coast of the North Island has a reputation for unemployment, poverty and isolation. Academy Award nominee and writer/director Taika Waititi (Eagle vs. Shark, Two Cars, One Night) uses this location as the setting for the bittersweet comedy Boy, which has won several awards including an AFI Fest Audience Award and the Deutsches Kinderhilfswerk Grand Prix at the Berlin International Film Festival.

Taika Waititi’s whimsical, sophomore effort “Boy” is a coming-of age tale that drops us into 1984, and follows the titular Boy (James Rolleston), named after his absentee father, Alamein (Waititi). He lives with his grandmother, younger brother Rocky (Te Aho Aho Eketone-Whitu) and four cousins who act as adorable window dressing around their rundown farm. When his grandmother leaves for a funeral, Alamein -- newly freed from prison -- returns to their home with two hooligans in tow to crash, with plans to find a pile of money he buried years earlier. Meanwhile, Boy hopes that with his father back in his life, he will take them away and they can be a family.
The humor that Waititi wields is clear if you're familiar with his first film "Eagle vs. Shark," but more so from his contributions to the cult hit "The Flight of the Conchords." Boy's introduction to...

[Editor's note: Special thanks to our friend Chase over at Gordon and the Whale for the following reviews]
Splice - Written by Rusty Gordon
Rating: 7.5/10
Writers: Vincenzo Natali, Antoinette Terry Bryant & Doug Taylor (screenplay), Vincenzo Natali & Antoinette Terry Bryant (story) Director: Vincenzo Natali Cast: Sarah Polley, Adrien Brody, Delphine Chanéac
It might be cheap to say that if you enjoy David Cronenberg, you should enjoy Splice (using one man’s art to describe another’s). But there are obvious similarities between Splice and a large body of Cronenberg’s work (if you get the pun, I’m glad that you love Cronenberg too). The big one being a body used to create horror. But in this film, the body was never completely human.
Of course, if Splice was just a straight up rip-off of Cronenberg’s films it wouldn’t work because the two would be too similar. However, Splice director Vincenzo Natali is able to have his own fun while giving a respectful nod to master Cronenberg and his other influences.

Another new Sundance video review. It's just vastly easier to record video reviews of some films, which is why we have so many of them. This time Alex talked with Peter from SlashFilm about New Zealand director Taika Waititi's new film Boy. Both Peter and I were big fans of Taika's Eagle vs Shark a few years back and had high hopes for Boy. It's a good film but I don't think it's as great as Eagle vs Shark and it runs a little long. It's got some good performances but I didn't love it. Watch the trailer for it here. If you're interested in hearing our quick thoughts on the film, watch our 4-minute video review below. And sorry it was so dark! When his father returns after many years away, 11-year-old Boy (James Rolleston) and his little brother Rocky (Te Aho Aho Eketone-Whitu) must reconcile reality with...

Writer: Taika Cohen
Director: Taika Cohen
Cast: Taika Cohen, Te Aho Aho Eketone-Whitu, James Rolleston
I have never seen Taika Cohen’s previous feature Eagle Vs. Shark, but after seeing the director’s latest film Boy, I have been hit by a strong wave of desire to see all work done in the past and in the future by this director/screenwriter. Cohen’s definitely got that thing referred to as talent.

Te Aho Aho Eketone-Whitu (Rocky), James Rolleston (Boy), and director-actor Taika Waititi (Alamein) in Boy My first day at Sundance went pretty much exactly as I'd hoped and feared. I saw a movie I loved (Boy) and I saw a movie I hated (more on that later). It was beautifully and unusually snowy—the continuation of the storms hitting the West Coast, I'm told—but then I stepped in a foot-deep slush puddle before my first screening. Among the external factors that unfairly influence one's judgment of a film, having a freezing, slushy shoe ranks up there with being in the front row, so I wasn't expecting to enjoy Boy. But I was pleased to learn before the screening that the film's director, Taika Waititi, had had the same experience. Waititi, whose first feature was 2007's playful Eagle vs. Shark (in which he is credited as Taika Cohen), happens to...

I'm a bit hesitant about featuring this since I don't like watching trailers for Sundance films before going to Sundance, but I thought why the hell not. Boy is the new film from New Zealand comedian / filmmaker Taika Waititi, better known as Taika Cohen, who directed Eagle vs Shark in 2007 (read my review). Quiet Earth, who was the first to find the trailer, just emailed me about it, as I've been looking forward to seeing Taiki's follow-up to Eagle vs Shark. It was announced a few weeks ago that Boy would be premiering at the Sundance Film Festival in January. After watching this trailer, I definitely can't wait to see this there. Enjoy! Watch the first trailer for Taika Waititi's Boy: [flv:http://media2.firstshowing.net/firstshowing/boy-first-trailer-rutube.flv http://media2.firstshowing.net/firstshowing/boy-first-trailer-rutube.jpg 580 322] When his father returns after many years away, 11-year-old Boy (James Rolleston) and his little brother Rocky (Te Aho Aho Eketone-Whitu) must reconcile reality with a ...
