I did not have Jonathan Groff singing “Tujhe Dekha To Yeh Jana Sanam” on my 2024 bingo card. The Broadway actor humbly steps into Indian culture in Roshan Sethi’s “A Nice Indian Boy,” which repeatedly connects back to Aditya Chopra’s “Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge” — the film that originated “Tujhe Dekha”.
Written by Eric Randall (and based on Madhuri Shekar’s play), “A Nice Indian Boy” is all about subverting stereotypes about Indian culture, both within and outside of the community. The title itself is a cheeky twist on every aunty’s favorite refrain: that when a girl is of the right age, she or her family will find her a “nice Indian boy” to settle down with.
This time, however, protagonist Naveen (Karan Soni) is the one planning to bring home a nice Indian boy, which is probably not what all those aunties were picturing. But “A Nice Indian Boy” delights in defying expectations,...

Mumbai, June 26 (Ians) The song ‘Pasoori Nu’ from the upcoming Kartik Aaryan and Kiara Advani-starrer ‘Satyaprem Ki Katha’ takes a romantic route unlike its original counterpart – the hit Pakistani song ‘Pasoori’ from Coke Studio season 14. While the original was crooned by Ali Sethi and Shae Gill, the Indian version has been sung by Bollywood music superstar Arijit Singh and Tulsi Kumar. The song was released on Monday.
Ali and Shae’s ‘Pasoori’ revolves around themes of separation and heartbreak, the visuals of the song picturised on Kartik and Kiara take a lighter route and is showcased as another romantic track in the movies’s Ost.
In terms of sound texture, the programming has been changed to appeal to the palette of the larger audience that listen to Bollywood music in India.
Visually, the chemistry between Kartik and Kiara is palpable and comes out quite good in the song. The...

Ahead of the release of the Kartik Aaryan and Kiara Advani starrer ‘Satyaprem Ki Katha’, the actor shared a teaser for one of the film’s new tracks titled ‘Pasoori Nu’, a new version of the famous Pakistani track ‘Pasoori’, adding their own twist to the global hit sung by renowned singer Arijit Singh.
Sharing the teaser on Instagram, Kartik Aaryan captioned: “Relive the global hit! Pasoori nu”
“Sattu – Katha’s pure love gets the magical touch of Arijit Singh’s voice”
“#PasooriNu Song Out Tomorrow at 11:11 Am”
The sneak peek shows little except for a different take on the original track with a more electronic flavour, and a more Western style, though the full song will be available on Monday.
The trailer and the songs have given the tone for the romantic musical and with the movie having its own rendition of ‘Pasoori’ with Arijit Singh giving his voice,...

Mumbai, June 21 (Ians) As soon as the news about the popular Pakistani song ‘Pasoori’ being recreated for Kartik Aaryan and Kiara Advani’s upcoming film ‘Satyaprem Ki Katha’ broke out, social media users from Pakistan were quick to judge it on social media.
The news about the recreated version of ‘Pasoori’, which is originally sung by Ali Sethi and Shae Gil, did not go down well with ‘Pasoori’ fans.
A Twitter user wrote: “Can they really remake Pasoori just on a whim? afaik that’s an original song and should be strictly copyrighted to its makers? so did the makers give permission to the movie makers to ‘recreate’ the song or are they just gonna shamelessly bypass all that? how does that work?”
“Bollywood is recreating Pasoori????” questioned a netizen.
One said: “If pasoori is to be remade, it should be for a Pakistani Film and not for a third class Bollywood film!

“Jalebi Baby” was originally a remix of Justin Bieber’s “Yummy” with Bollywood song “Jalebi Baby.” However, after its success on TikTok and Instagram, Tesher revised the piece by removing “Yummy” and adding extended original lyrics in Punjabi and English.
The song became a viral sensation, topping the Shazam charts in 25+ countries and amassing over 100 million combined global streams in a few months. In 2022, Tesher performed “Jalebi Baby” with Simu Liu at the Juno Awards. It was also featured in an episode of the Iman Vellani-led Disney+ series “Ms. Marvel.”

Mumbai, May 1 (Ians) Hip-hop artiste Raja Kumari, who recently performed ‘Pasoori’ with Pakistani music star Ali Sethi at the Coachella music festival, has released her fourth independent album called ‘The Bridge’ which consists of 9 songs. She has shared her view on singers adopting a hybrid performance style and choosing to lip-sync the majority of the parts of a song.
Commenting on it, Raja Kumari said, “I would encourage more people to focus on the musicality of things so we can become better performers to be on international stages. We should not just focus on the glitz and glam, India has been known for being a centre of arts and music for thousands of years, so let’s not let that go”.
