Good Deed Entertainment has nabbed North American rights to “Ma Belle, My Beauty,” a queer polyamorous love story that was embraced by critics when it debuted at this year’s Sundance Film Festival.
The film, which marks Marion Hill’s directorial feature film debut, won the Audience Award in the Next category at the festival. It will next screen at the South by Southwest Film Festival in the “Festival Favorites” section.
“Ma Belle, My Beauty” unfolds in the south of France, and follows the love story of Lane (Hannah Pepper), Bertie (Idella Johnson) and Fred (Lucien Guignard). In a positive review, Variety‘s Lisa Kennedy commended Hill’s direction and noted the romantic atmosphere that she evoked.
“‘Ma Belle, My Beauty’ is lovely, not least because it was filmed in and around the book-me-a-flight village of Anduze near the Cévennes mountains,” Kennedy wrote. “Hill and cinematographer Lauren Guiteras seize the...

Arriving over ten years after the faux-Grindhouse bubble burst, post-Tarantino “Death Proof,” Will Addison’s “Easy Does It” fatally mistakes headache-inducing visuals and unending nervously delivered dialogue for style, bludgeoning the viewer with a pastiche of better films that wears out its welcome way before the credits start rolling. Ostensibly about two losers who rob their way from Louisiana to California, the skeleton plot is really an excuse for Addison to show off every editing trick he’s ever seen, somehow crafting a visually overwhelming, yet utterly incoherent, film that is sinfully boring.
Following Jack and Scottie (Matthew Paul Martinez) as two halfwits from Louisiana in the 1970s, stuck in a dead-end restaurant job and hustling for cash on the side.

Who’s up for a road trip? I’m guessing most folks are, after being cooped up for much of this year. Well, since things aren’t quite back to normal, perhaps a cinematic one would fill the bill. Maybe a state to state jaunt would be in order, with a somewhat shady duo behind the wheel ala’ Smokey And The Bandit or Thelma And Louise, perhaps just indulging in an occasional “dine ‘n’ dash” or a “fill-up and flee”. Oh, and aside from the authorities, some roughnecks are on your trail. That’s the elements of the new comic crime caper Easy Does It. But with these dimwits churning up dust, nothing is ever easy (especially for the audience).
Down in Mississippi, in the down and dirty alleys and side streets, we meet the story’s two “heroes” as they try to run the old “fight scam”. Jack (Ben Matheny...

Two best buds. An accidental hostage. One crazy shot at running down the American dream. Gravitas has unveiled the first official trailer for an indie crime comedy titled Easy Does It, which is debuting next month. The filmmaking team is comprised of 100% Louisiana residents - most of whom are University of New Orleans film alums. Two best friends and their accidental hostage careen across the 1970s American South on a treasure hunt turned crime spree. The film's cast features Bryan Batt, Dwight Henry, Ben Matheny, Matthew Paul Martinez, Susan Gordon, and Linda Hamilton as "The King"; with voice roles from John Goodman and Harry Shearer. And featuring original music from Patrick Carney of The Black Keys. At least they made the film look like it's from the 70s. Because it seems a bit out-of-date already. Here's the first official trailer (+ poster) for Will Addison's Easy Does It, direct from YouTube...
