Sacrilege begins with a man running screaming from a darkened house. He fumbles with his car keys as his body begins to smoke and then burst into flames. He stumbles towards a pond only to collapse in a charred heap of bubbling flesh at its edge. That opening scene sums up writer/director David Creed’s debut feature nicely. Well done but very familiar.
Four friends Trish, her ex-girlfriend Kayla, Stacey (Naomi Willow; 2nd Date Sex) and Blake (Sian Abrahams; Aylesbury Dead) are having a bit of a girl’s night out. Trish initially gets a less than friendly reception for cheating on Kayla. That however is soon put behind them when they see Kayla’s other ex, Tyler (David English), in the club. It seems...

Debut writer-director David Creed falls prey to antiquated tropes in a stale folk-horror led by four vacuous final girls
This eye-gougingly derivative folk-horror outing arrives as a form of hex on anyone trying to advance women’s representation on screen. Its four final girls, running around in hitched-up vests with slogans such as “no bad days” and “lucky clover”, are so vacuous, annoying and faux-empowered that Sacrilege almost unwittingly comes across as an 83-minute attempt to discredit the Bechdel test.
“Here’s to the girls in stiletto shoes who make all the money and drink all the booze.” That’s the toast Kayla (Tamaryn Payne) and her pals Blake (Sian Abrahams) and Stacey (Naomi Willow) use to wash away bad news – that the evil mugger who beat Kayla into a coma is out on early release – and head off for a girls’ weekend to a remote country lodge. Even her cheating ex,...

Watch the Trailer for Doors: "Without explanation or warning, a number of mysterious, alien “doors” suddenly appear in every corner of the globe. While many of those that encounter these sentient visitors feel the strange urge to interact with them – never to be seen again – others stay behind to face the potential threat of what their ultimate agenda towards mankind is. In a rush to determine the reason for the arrival of these cosmic anomalies, the government enlists volunteers to brave the journey to enter the doors so that we might learn more about their origin or purpose. But even these brave volunteers are not prepared for what lies beyond the threshold. The story of the doors is told through multiple perspectives: a ragtag band of high school students discover a door for the first time, volunteers explore the parallel reality beyond the threshold, and a lonesome hermit manages the...

Sacrilege is a film about paganism, from the United Kingdom. Focusing on four characters out for a girl's weekend, this quartet finds themselves involved in an ancient ritual. Now, an ancient goddess is exploiting their greatest fears. This title, from director David Creed (Facility 31), has already released in UK theatres. Now, there is the possibility of a wider release, with the an international poster available here. The central cast includes a few familiar names. This film fan has recently seen Tamaryn Payne in Small Town Folk (2007). Emily Wyatt (Mission of Honor), Naomi Willow (Bonded by Blood) and Emma Spurgin Hussey (A Werewolf in England) also centrally star in this indie horror feature. As well, the latest sales art shows the goddess from the film. The five-pointed star reveals some of the evil in store for viewers. And, one side of the figure's burnt flesh shows a darker side, in this well drawn graphic.

One of the films high on my “must-see” Frightfest list last year, unfortunately work got in the way and I missed it. However I didn’t miss the furore surrounding its screenings, which – if memory serves, sold out on more than one occasion? Our man Jack Kirby did see it though and unfortunately he wasn’t too impressed, but I think he may have been suffering from zombie-movie fatigue having sat through opening night snoozefest The Dead 2.
Yet another example of the British zombie comedy, Stalled takes a more puerile route in pursuit of its laughs, but then when you set your film in a toilet where else is there for you to go? Essentially a one-man performance, the film sees hapless caretaker Wc (writer/actor Dan Palmer) trapped in the restroom when a zombie...

Stalled (2013)
Starring: Dan Palmer, Antonia Bernath, Tamaryn Payne
Writer: Dan Palmer
Director: Christian James
Synopsis:
It’s Christmas eve and a soon to be shit-canned maintenance man is changing light bulbs and cleaning toilets, instead of drinking eggnog and making out with drunk receptionists at the annual office party.
Unfortunately for this forlorn floor-sweeper he chooses to use the ladies restroom the very second a zombie outbreak occurs! Will he bowl us over and flush away the undead or simply remain… Stalled?
He’s in the perfect place to be scared shitless.
Review:
Zombies, zombies, zombies! They aren’t going anywhere anytime soon, folks, so it’s best to get used to ‘em! If you’re tired of the more by-the-basics undead type flicks, there’s plenty of indie filmmakers out there trying to do different things within the sub-genre. Stalled comes to us from the dudes behind Freak Out.

Stalled is a new zombie feature from production company Cubicle Hero. This comedic title had a United Kingdom premiere August 24th and the reviews have been positive, so far. This film has been compared to another zombie comedy, Shaun of the Dead. And, fans can preview the film's promotional materials, here. Stalled involves a maintenance man, who is trapped in a washroom during a zombie apocalypse. W. C. (Dan Palmer) needs to find a way to escape, but his one man stall provides few exits. Can he find a way out, before the undead find a way in? Critic Luke Owen from Flickering Myth enjoyed the film: "Palmer's performance and willingness will lead to some really big laughs." Also, the trailer for the film offers hilarity as W.C. overreacts to his desperate situation. Horror and zombie fans can preview the film's trailer and official movie poster here. The project will be hitting the Us courtesy of Uncork'd Entertainment and Odin's Eye this coming October where it'll be receiving a limited theatrical run. Which will in turn follow up with a home release during November. Exact dates are still to be nailed down but in the meantime the movie has managed to piggy-back onto another zombie movie that is enjoying success at the box office currently. The new teaser poster manages to parody and take a literal massive sh#t on the artwork of 'World War Z'. Antonia Bernath ('St Trinians', 'Lykke'), Dan Palmer, Tamaryn Payne ('Hollyoaks'), Mark Holden, Giles Alderson ('The Harsh Light of Day'), Victoria Broom, Mark Kelly and Victoria Eldon all star.

One man. One toilet. And lots of zombies! Lol! Get ready for a completely weird horror movie titled Stalled, which comes from director Christian James and is currently in post production. Yeah, no official release date at this moment, but at least we have a completely fresh (well, if fresh is the right word for a story set in one toilet) teaser trailer for the whole thing. Make sure you check this out, and let us know what you think!
So, Christian James directed the movie from Dan Palmer‘s script which centers on a luckless maintenance gopher who finds himself stuck in a ladies restroom during the zombie apocalypse.
Dan Palmer also stars as the lead, character named W.C (yeah, that’s funny name, too) while the rest of the cast also includes Antonia Bernath, Tamaryn Payne, Mark Holden, Giles Alderson and Chris R. Wright.

Currently in post-productions, Stalled is the latest entry into the UK horror comedy genre that British filmmakers often seem to have a handle on better than most. (Naturally, I point you towards Shaun of the Dead as a good starting point if you’re new to the genre.)
We’ve had the first poster for the film sent over, giving us a tease of its intriguing premise:

Back in 2004 a new British comedy horror flick arrived out of nowhere and landed our desks. The parody-esque slasher feature was called 'Freak Out' and was a great little low-budget production which kept our team chuckling away. Now 8 years on Brit duo Christian James and Dan Palmer are back with their new comedy horror effort 'Stalled'. It's Christmas time zombies, with guaranteed toilet humour all the way and we have caught an early glimpse at the new bloody one-sheet from the project. James helms from a script penned by Dan Palmer who also stars as the suitably named maintenance man W.C. Antonia Bernath ('Lykke'), Tamaryn Payne ('Hollyoaks'), Mark Holden, Giles Alderson, Victoria Broom, Mark Kelly and Victoria Eldon all co-star. Hollyoaks star Calvin Demba has hinted that his character Scott Sabeka will soon step up his pursuit of fellow student Annalise Appleton. Scott and Annalise (Tamaryn Payne) have harboured feelings for each other for some time, but have so far shown no signs of becoming a proper couple. However, Demba told Digital Spy that next week's Hollyoaks episodes - which explore a turbulent time for Scott at home in London - could prove to be a turning point for the story. Demba commented: "What happens to Scott when he's back in London does give him a different attitude towards life. It feels like he needs to man up and start facing his problems head-on. "He really needs to seize the day, so when he does come back to Chester, he's meaning business. He's going to try and sort this out once and for all." Scott is good friends with (more...
