We've never watched a single episode of "Comic Book Men" so the prospect of its stars being in a horror flick isn't exactly a selling point for us. That being said a flick that "pays homage to the grainy and gory genre flicks of the VHS era?" Yep, that we're sold on!
From the Press Release
Blood Flood Productions is proud to announce its inaugural feature, Burn in Hell. The independent horror-comedy features AMC’s “Comic Book Men” stars Ming Chen, Michael Zapcic, and Robert Bruce. Burn in Hell marks the debut of 17-year-old writer/director Joshua Bruce. “As my first full-fledged feature, I couldn’t be more ecstatic,” he raves. “I never expected it to grow so rapidly as it has. The actors and crew have been the best part of working on it, and I couldn’t have pulled it off without them.”

TV news and notes:
- "Last Week Tonight with John Oliver" will launch April 27 on HBO. The network has released key art for the weekly topical series with the tagline "Just the nightly news. Only weeklier." Oliver comes to HBO after a long tenure as a "Daily Show" correspondent.
- Kevin Smith's TV empire continues to grow with the news that AMC has ordered two more pilots from the filmmaker. In addition to Season 4 of "Comic Book Men," the network is developing "Hollywood Babble-On," a weekly entertainment news show based on a podcast the filmmaker does with radio personality Ralph Garman. Additionally, frequent "Comic Book Men" guest Robert Bruce is getting a shot at his own spinoff. The unscripted series would follow the self-proclaimed pop culture on his travels around the country in search of rare items.

With Mad Men beginning its final season in April, AMC has revealed the first glimpse of its future programming beyond spinoffs of Breaking Bad and The Walking Dead. The station has begun development on a number of series, ranging from scripted dramas and comedies to an unscripted "Untitled Billy Corgan Wrestling Project," according to The Hollywood Reporter. In addition to the Smashing Pumpkins singer (possibly) smashing heads, AMC's selection includes notable shows featuring the work of Seth Rogen, Kevin Smith and X-Files creator Chris Carter.

TV's 2014 Upfront presentations are currently under way, and while the horror news has been light so far, today it was AMC's turn, and they have several projects in development that caught our eye.
First, the thus far untitled "The Walking Dead" companion series has landed Dave Erickson ("Sons of Anarchy") as an executive producer and co-writer along with Robert Kirkman.
As Kirkman said previously, "After ten years of writing the comic book series... I couldn’t be more thrilled about getting the chance to create a new corner of 'The Walking Dead' universe. The opportunity to make a show that isn’t tethered by the events of the comic book, and is truly a blank page, has set my creativity racing."
Now, as for the rest, along with "The After," which is heading to Amazon, Chris Carter has "Area 51" in the works at AMC. Written by Carter and...

Kevin Smith, late-night TV host?
We could easily see that. AMC is developing a late-night talk show titled Hollywood Babble-On, starring Smith and the co-host of his popular podcast, Ralph Garman. AMC also has renewed Smith’s docu-series Comic Book Men for a fourth season. And that’s not all: AMC is teaming with Smith on the development of a docuseries featuring collector Comic Book Men regular Robert Bruce, following him and other expects as they comb the country searching real estate sales, auction houses and flea markets to find rare items (sort of like Antiques Roadshow for geeks).

A country's independence is a matter of national identity, not esoteric economic argument
Every proud country has its trove of foundation myths, and Scotland is among the richest in national stories, from Robert Bruce's spider to Rob Roy, Flora MacDonald and Archie Gemmill in the 68th minute against Holland. But as yet no country, Scotland included, has rooted its national identity in the fiscal consequences of a dissolved monetary union – or any esoteric economic argument.
Standard Life, a pillar of the Scottish financial establishment, last week joined George Osborne and other London-based politicians in attempting to sway the Scottish electorate against independence with a warning over the volatility that would be unleashed by a vote to go it alone. The No campaign is a leaden mass of economic argument, backed by baroque thinktank papers and contributions from company bosses brave enough to put their heads above the parapet but...

As Discovery is in production prepping its first original scripted miniseries, the cable network already is eyeing a second. The cable network is reteaming with Ridley Scott's Scott Free Productions banner for a second original mini based on the historical books by Nigel Tranter, Discovery announced Tuesday. The untitled William Wallace and Robert the Bruce project will be based on Tranter's The Wallace and The Bruce Trilogy and explore Scottish patriots William Wallace and Robert Bruce as well as the Scottish unrest and turbulence in 1296 after King Edward I of England invaded Scotland and imposed English rule. Exclusive: Discovery Channel has ordered its second original scripted miniseries, about Scotland’s fight for independence from English rule in the 13th century. Scott Free Productions — the production house behind Discovery’s first original scripted mini, Klondike — is developing the new series chronicling William Wallace and Robert the Bruce’s bloody campaign for Scotland’s independence. The untitled project will be based on historical books by Nigel Tranter, including The Wallace and The Bruce Trilogy. Wallace, you’ll recall, was the title character played by Mel Gibson in the 1995 flick Braveheart. History wonks who did not look so favorably on some of the liberties taken with that Oscar-winning film, will like Discovery Channel’s rendition better, as it’s expected to stick more to the facts. In round numbers: King Edward I of England invaded Scotland and imposed English rule. Edward I’s reign over Scotland was never peaceable and Scottish discontent was widespread.

On "Who the (Bleep) Did I Marry?," Joylynn Martinez thought she was married to a regular guy named Robert Bruce. But after his arrest, she found out her husband was leading a double life -- he was actually a rapist who’d been committing assaults for 20 years.
Dubbed Ether Man Bruce confessed to more than 30 assaults in various states across the Us. Bruce was given the moniker because he used rags soaked in chemicals to incapacitate his victims.
Those who knew him were shocked. "I basically just shut down," Martinez said of the stunning revelation. "I couldn’t believe I knew this man for this many years and he was capable of what he had done. It’s just mind boggling to me."
On November 16, 2012, Bruce pleaded guilty and was sentenced to 156 years in prison. He is reportedly already serving a 64-year sentenced for another crime -- "attempting to blow up a police officer's home.

Today's cool piece of Geek Art comes from DeviantArt artist No-Sign-of-Sanity, and is called Anatomy of the Hulk. The artist was obviously inspired by Leonardo Da Vinci's The Vitruvian Man.
Here's a note from the artist:
The text at the bottom of the page was adapted from “The Official Handbook of the Marvel Universe”, and I tweaked and rewrote it to better suit my needs. For all of the unfortunate non-eagle-eyed-backwards-text-reading souls out there, the text at the bottom reads as follows:
“Anatomy of the Beast
Born as the result of a freak radioactive incident, the Hulk possesses the capacity for near limitless physical strength. The gamma radiation that mutated Dr. Robert Bruce Banner’s body, somehow fortified his cellular structure and added, from some as yet unknown source, over eight hundred pounds of bone marrow and tissue that comprises the core of this monstrosity christened “The Hulk”.
