Oscar-nominated actress Amy Irving is ready to release her first album.
The performer tells The Hollywood Reporter that Born In a Trunk, featuring 10 cover songs pulled from her life and career, will be released digitally on April 7. “Why Don’t You Do Right?” — the first single which Irving sang as Jessica Rabbit in Who Framed Roger Rabbit — will be available on digital platforms on March 3.
Irving, 69, made her film debut in Brian De Palma’s Carrie in 1976 and two years later was in supernatural thriller The Fury. Her role in Yentl earned her an Oscar nomination for best supporting actress and she scored best actress Golden Globes nominations for Crossing Delancey and Anastasia: The Mystery of Anna. She also has a number of stage credits, earning an Obie Award for her off-Broadway performance in a production of The Road to Mecca.

We’ve got questions, and you’ve (maybe) got answers! With another week of TV gone by, we’re lobbing queries left and right about shows including The Affair, Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., Empire and American Horror Story: Hotel!
1 | Master of None fans, can we agree that Saturday Night Live made a huge mistake letting go of Noel Wells?
2 | Wait just a second… after near misses with Finn, Johnny and Nestor Carbonell’s hot random business guy, is The Good Wife really going to pull the rug out from under Alicia and Jason without some kind of on-screen consummation?...

Earlier this month we published a list of 20 cover songs that became more famous than the originals. From Whitney Houston's version of "I Will Always Love You" to Sinead O'Connor's breathy remake of Prince's "Nothing Compares 2U," the list scanned some of the best renditions in music history.
There's another realm of cover songs we didn't include in the last post, however, which is where our list of unexpected covers comes in. We've put together the strangest and most unpredictable song selections of artists like Johnny Cash, Tom Waits and Dusty Springfield. Scroll through the list below and let us know your thoughts on the world of reimagined tunes in the comments.
1. "Hurt" by Johnny Cash (original by Nine Inch Nails)
"Hurt" was written by industrial rock icon Trent Reznor for Nine Inch Nails' 1994 album, "The Downward Spiral." Eight years later, Johnny Cash covered the song and his...

Bob Dylan/Mark Knopfler Barclays Center November 21, 2012
I'd heard for years what a crapshoot Dylan concerts were, how he may render classic songs "unrecognizable." Given the cost of his shows, I never took the chance before.
But my wife wanted to see him, and made my ticket my early Christmas present. The show was only two blocks from our place, after all, and for as much as I hate the Barclays center both for what it represents and for the myriad inconveniences it foists on us, I figure we're due a benefit from it. It turned out to be worth the price of admission, though that determination was in doubt for a while.
First came a 100-minute set from the opening act, Mark Knopfler. Apparently he is distancing himself from his Dire Straits work; as a result, I was unfamiliar with everything before the encore, which was his old band's "So Far Away,...

So it is now time to embark on the final chapter in my mindless quest to compare Friday Night Lights plot lines to bowl games.
If you missed my first two posts in the series, you can read them here and here.
Before I jump into the comparisons, we need to get in the mood to discuss Friday Night Lights. That is, sappy, reflective and on the verge of tears.
So here you go:
The Rose Bowl Game Presented By Vizio, January 2nd, 5:00 Pm, Espn
Oregon vs. Wisconsin
By all indications, this should be one of the best games of the entire bowl season, if only because the Friday Night Lights tie-ins are just off the charts. Wisconsin has a tough, explosive offense that's led by an extremely talented dual-threat quarterback named Russell Wilson who transferred into the school this season from out of state. Hmmm..."an extremely talented...

Hey, ya’ll, did you hear the news that a Friday Night Lights movie is in the works? Peter Berg, the executive producer of the recently departed (sigh!), Emmy-nominated (woo hoo!) series, told reporters at the TCAs that Fnl would be heading (back) to the big screen. And exec producer Jason Katims told EW that the script process is “still very early — I’m just beginning to plot out the story for the script — but it’s something that we’re all excited about.”
For any fan of Fnl, this is bound to bring up some conflicting feelings. Mainly, there...

When ABC Family's Switched At Birth premiered on June 6th, both the show and actress Katie LeClerc were a hit with fans. Katie stars as "Daphne Vasquez," a deaf teen who discovers she was switched at birth. Daphne went home to a single, working-class mother (Constance Marie) and loses her hearing due to meningitis at an early age. "Bay Kennish" (Vanessa Marano) ended up living the life of a girl from a wealthy family (Lea Thompson, D.W. Moffett and Lucas Grabeel).
As the two families come together to confront the discovery, there is nothing but thrilling drama. Katie is fluent in American Sign Language, and while she is not deaf, she is “hard of hearing” from Ménière's disease (a disorder of the inner ear that can affect hearing and balance to a varying degree, characterized by episodes of vertigo and progressive hearing loss, usually in one ear). She’s...

If you don’t have DirecTV and haven’t had a chance to catch the final season of Friday Night Lights yet (suckaaaaazzz!!!!! Sorry, that slips out sometimes when I am intentionally bragging), here are 20 Shocking Things That Happen In The Fnl Series Finale. Brace yourself for some Huge, True Spoilers: 1. Jason Street goes back to Mexico and gets the shark injection and it works. He returns to found the Street Sharks. 2. Vince’s Dad joins Landry’s band and is alright at bass. 3. The Lions win State comfortably, mostly running out the clock in the fourth quarter of a 17-point victory. 4. Tyra was Bruce Willis the whole time. 5. Becky wins “USA Hero,” an American Idol ripoff, and Randy Jackson joins the series for a 37-episode cameo even though it’s over. 6. Luke finally accepts an offer to play for the University of Phoenix. 7. Saracen’s mom keeps running back...

We've had a few weeks' rest from the thickening fog of depression that is the final season of "Friday Night Lights," so let's see if maybe things are lightening up a bit...
In an embarrassing display of unchecked ego.Vince (Michael B. Jordan) and his family (Sad Mom and Bad Bad Leroy Brown among them) have set up a television outside just to watch his post-game interview from the Lions/Panthers match-up -- in which he clearly takes all the credit. They're really driving this character deterioration home -- hopefully not so far that we can't salvage Vince, because right now, the boy is on thin ice. Jess (Jurnee Smollett) shares our concern, which is good, because she needs some story.
Becky (Madison Burge) and Luke (Matt Lauria) are returning to familiar territory, in bed! (It's just like the fortune cookie game, only literal.) Luke doesn't understand why she doesn't...

Like Julie when in the presence of Matt, I can't stay mad at Friday Night Lights.
The season four finale tried to cram a whole lot into just one hour, as the first half was filled with so many scenes, involving so many characters and storylines, that I had to grab my neck to keep my head from spinning. It all felt a bit jumbled, which goes along with one criticism I've had throughout this ambitious season:
Characters and developments didn't fully come together. It almost seemed out of place for all those people to even be together at Thanksgiving (though well worth it for Eric and Tami's discussion over Buddy's invitation alone), as the show had so many individuals to service this year - from new students and a new community to the tying up of long-time character arcs - that it sometimes lacked a flow.
But the superb...

I’ve always thought if the end of a season sneaks up you, chances are that the series has been doing something right all year. Such is the case for the fourth season of Friday Night Lights.
There were some early issues with balancing all the characters and really a whole new world while still servicing the Fnl veterans, but ever since Matt’s departure, the series has transitioned nicely into the new characters’ lives and the stories that will surely drive the fifth and final season.
At one point earlier in the season, I noted that Vince was being put in position to take over Matt’s role as the beaten down, never can catch a break kid with a good heart. I’d say that role has been officially grasped and I’ve been enjoying watching Vince’s life slowly crumble to the ground just as he actually...

Clear-eyed, full-hearted fans of Friday Night Lights have learned the face of pure evil, and its name is Joe McCoy. Played by actor D.W. Moffett, the wealthy father of the obnoxious star quarterback at West Dillon High is the biggest Texas villain since J.R. Ewing. He engineered Coach Taylor’s dismissal from the Panthers. He usurped Buddy as the head of the boosters. He’s even got his sights set on retribution against Tami. Ugly stuff. But it’s the gleeful way that he does his Machiavellian deeds that has me hurling nonsensicals at the TV screen before I...

We know this review is a couple days late, but it took us this long to stop crying after watching the latest episode of Friday Night Lights.
Tears dry, we can discuss "The Son" at length and actually see the computer screen as we type.
We joke, but we're also deadly serious. What an incredible hour of television, as Friday Night Lights took what could have been a cliche-ridden event and turned it into an example of why this show is unlike any other.
How many programs have dealt with the death of a loved one? There's crying, there are speeches, jokes, a funeral. By the end of the episode, characters have typically gone through the stages of grief and are ready to move on.
But that's not what happened here.
Due to the documentary style of the show, it truly felt like a camera had subtly been placed around...

Better late than never, right? We know Friday Night Lights airs on Wednesday evenings, but we were unable to get to this review until today.
Still, rather than give up on it entirely, we're following Coach Taylor's advice to the Lions and we're finishing this fight!
Friday Night Lights, perhaps more than any show on television, has always focused on its characters. There have rarely been major, suspenseful storylines (we're gonna pretend like the Landry killing never happened) to drive a season, just an in-depth look at various characters we've grown to love, played by incredible, gifted actors.
But the East Dillon storyline has given the series something new and exciting: a battlefield. There's clear good versus evil. Even when Buddy was a foil to Eric early in the show's run, there was always a lovable, vulnerable side to the character. But the same can't be said for Joe McCoy and Wade Aikman.

With the return of Friday Night Lights right around the corner (it premieres on Wednesday, October 28, at 9Pm on DirecTV's 101 Network), there's been a lot of talk about who's returning, who isn't, and just what the heck is gonna happen now that Eric (Kyle Chandler) is coaching the East Dillon Lions and not the Dillon Panthers anymore. There's been plenty of news, too, regarding new characters and how the good-bye arcs for favorites like Matt (Zach Gilford), Tyra (Adrianne Palicki), and Lyla (Minka Kelly) are going to play out

All good things must come to an end — that is, until next season. Friday Night Lights' third-season finale aired Friday, and dealt a shocking blow to Coach Taylor (Kyle Chandler). The twist came after an already emotionally-packed 13 episodes that included Coach dealing with a new baby, seeing his wife become principal of the school, finding out his older daughter was sleeping with her boyfriend and facing the combative, over-involved parent, Joe McCoy.
TVGuide.com sat down with Chandler to talk about his alter ego's journey on and off the field this past season, saying goodbye to some amazing characters (and actors) and what could be in store for Coach in Season 4.
