BBC Two's new sitcom Boy Meets Girl, touted as the first British comedy to prominently feature transgender characters, has begun filming.
The comedy follows Leo, who has a terrible day when he is fired from his job, given a hard time by his mother and forced to play gooseberry to his brother on a night out. However, his luck changes when he meets older woman Judy.
Leo finds himself deeply attracted to Judy and arranges to meet her again. Although his mother is unhappy about the age gap between the pair, Leo doesn't care what she thinks because he knows he has met somebody very special.
Harry Hepple (Misfits, Hustle) will play Leo, Rebecca Root (Normal) will play Judy and Denise Welch (Waterloo Road, Benidorm) is Leo's mother Pam.
The cast also includes Janine Duvitski (Benidorm), Nigel Betts (Emmerdale), Lizzie Roper (Hollyoaks) and Jonny Dixon (Coronation Street).

The bouncer who released footage of Mike Tindall with a mystery woman has been arrested. Jonathan Dixon, who works at Altitude Bar in New Zealand, has been charged after uploading CCTV footage of Zara Phillips's husband seemingly embracing a blonde woman during celebrations for the Rugby World Cup onto the internet. According to the Metro, police have arrested the 40-year-old and charged him with accessing a computer system for dishonest purposes and gaining unauthorised access to the pictures. Britain's Prince William will be winched into a helicopter as part of his training to become a pilot. The 27-year-old royal will take part in the exercise to make sure he understands what it is like to be an injured person airlifted out of a dangerous situation as part of a search and rescue mission. Another two Coronation Street characters are to be written out of the show, Digital Spy can confirm. Darryl Morton and Vicki Dankowska - played by Jonathan Dixon and Wanda Opalinska - will bow out of the show later this year owing to "natural story progression".
