How’s this for a pairing? Nicolai Fuglsig has lined found two leads in Michael Shannon and Chris Hemsworth for his directorial debut, Deadline reports. Jerry Bruckheimer and Black Label Media will produce the film, which is titled Horse Soldiers. Based on a true story and adapted by Peter Craig and Ted Tally from a book penned by Dough Staton, Horse Soldiers follows a U.S. special forces team sent to Afghanistan in the wake of 9/11, led by a captain untested in the field. The team was tasked with joining forces with a local Warload to drive out the Taliban, an effort that proved much harder than anticipated. Bruckheimer stated his excitement over the project, saying “I am so happy that we’re finally getting this great project off the ground with wonderful leading actors, Chris Hemsworth and Michael Shannon. It’s also great to be partnered with Molly Smith,...

Mel Gibson’s comeback gathers pace today now that The Hollywood Reporter brings word the actor-director has entered negotiations to headline Every Other Weekend, a CIA spy thriller that will place Gibson in the boots of a veteran agent.
French filmmaker Benjamin Rocher is the director attached at the helm, enlisting producing support from Clement Miserez, Jean-Charles Levy and Peter Safran of The Conjuring fame. A late-year start is the goal.
As for story underpinning Rocher’s actioner, Every Other Weekend follows a father “who has his son convinced he’s a CIA spy, but in actuality he works in the agency’s It department. However, on a father-son trip in Paris, the two find themselves in a life-threatening adventure in which secrets are spilled.” It’s understood Gibson is circling the role of the Grandfather in the French thriller, the overriding patriarch of the family who is harboring a...

I hear Fxx has given a straight-to-series order to a comedy series starring Tracy Morgan, from Rcg Prods., the production company of It’s Always Sunny In Philadelphia‘s Rob McElhenney, Charlie Day and Glenn Howerton, and Sunny writer Luvh Rakhe. This is a brand new concept unrelated to Death Pact, the comedy pilot FX recently produced, from writer-creators Rob Long and Tad Safran, which starred Morgan as a formerly lazy, pot-dealing assistant high school coach who returns to his hometown as a decorated war hero. I hear FX approached McElhenney, Day and Howerton about working with Morgan in January, with the discussions resulting into the new series.

Exclusive: Veteran character actor Titus Welliver is getting his due, landing his first series lead role. I’ve learned that the Lost and Sons Of Anarchy alum has been tapped to play the title character in Amazon’s first drama pilot Bosch, a police procedural based on Michael Connelly‘s novels about Harry Bosch (Welliver), a veteran police homicide detective with the Los Angeles Police Department. The pilot was written by Connelly and Treme co-creator Eric Overmeyer, who are executive producing with Fabrik’s Henrik Bastin and Mikkel Bondesen. Bosch has been at the center of or featured in 20 novels by Connelly over the past two decades. Steve Talley (Friend Me, Pretty Little Liars) has been cast opposite Tracy Morgan in the FX comedy pilot Death Pact, directed by Randall Einhorn. From writer-creators Rob Long and Tad Safran and producers Eric and Kim Tannenbaum, Death Pact has Morgan playing a formerly lazy,...

Tracy Morgan‘s fans will love this news – 30 Rock star is returning to TV with a brand new comedy pilot titled Death Pact! FX Networks stands behind the project which will revolve around a former pothead and assistant high school coach who returns home from war as a decorated hero. Sounds promising, hope you agree? Co-created by Rob Long and Tad Safran, Death Pact is a single-camera, half-hour comedy which follows Morgan’s character – once lazy, pot-dealing assistance high school coach who comes back to his home town a decorated war hero, and enlists three down-on-their-luck friends and former students into following his harsh...

FX has a new comedy pilot in the works and they want Tracy Morgan to star. Today we can confirm Morgan has said yes. He’ll lead the cast of the single-camera comedy project entitled Death Pact. Yikes, that sounds ominous.
Morgan wasn’t in a scene he couldn’t steal during his long stint on fan favorite, 30 Rock, so I’m very eager to see if the FX project gets a full series order.
Death Pact comes from writer-creators Rob Long of Cheers and Tad Safran of The Long Weekend. Deadline reports the producers on board are Eric and Kim Tannenbaum.
Morgan stars as a “formerly lazy, pot-dealing assistant high school coach who returns to his hometown as a decorated war hero”. Sounds like he made good with his life, right? Well, his work isn’t done. When he realizes the sad state of his friends and former students alike,...

Tracy Morgan, a former star of "30 Rock," has closed a deal with FX to star in a new comedy pilot, "Death Pact." Production on the single-camera comedy will begin this summer in the New York/New Jersey area.
"Death Pact," created by Rob Long ("Sullivan & Son") and Tad Safran, focuses on Morgan's character -- a former pothead and assistant high school coach who returns home from war as a decorated hero. When the man meets up with three of his still-lazy and out-of-luck friends, he tries to motivate them. This involves a radical self-help philosophy in which there are major and harsh consequences for those who fail.
