"We're friends... right??" Good Deed Ent. has released an official trailer for a strange little indie film titled Little Jar, the second feature (after 3 Tickets to Paradise) made by filmmaker Dominic López. This first premiered at the 2022 Austin Film Festival last fall, and it also played at last year's Whistler Film Festival and Paris Film Festival earlier this year. Ainsley is a misanthrope who hates people but when she suddenly finds herself in isolation with no one to talk to, she realizes how much she actually misses connection. Enter Ulysses – a dead mouse in a jar. With a little bit of loneliness, a pinch of imagination, and a mouse-sized tuxedo, Ulysses becomes her training wheels in this newly discovered world of friendship. Starring Kelsey Gunn, Nicholas Anthony Reid, Jon Snow, Anthony Ma, Jennifer DeFilippo, and Doug Hurley. This looks super silly and awkward and amusing, though I see what they're...

Update, Saturday, Sept. 3: The Artemis 1 unmanned space launch, the first step in a program to return mankind to the moon, was called off once again this morning.
NASA officially blamed a leaky fuel line on a propellant tank for the postponement.
The ship was set to launch at 2:17 Est from the Kennedy Space Center in Florida. It follows a Monday delay. NASA will try again either Monday or Tuesday.
Update: NASA said it will try again this Saturday to launch its Artemis mission to the moon. A planned launch for the rocket was scrubbed after temperature concerns arose about one of its four main engines. Those concerns have now been allayed, according to multiple reports Tuesday.
Previously, August 29: Today’s planned launch of Artemis I has been scrubbed for now, NASA says, as teams work through an issue discovered during an “engine bleed” test that indicated one...

Elon Musk’s successful takeover bid for Twitter has raised concerns about his plans for the social media platform, because of his political views. Historically those views have teetered left and right, but tend to gravitate towards libertarian. His anti-union stance as CEO of electric vehicle maker Tesla has displeased liberals, even if they constitute his best automotive customers.
Objections to The Boring Company, his venture that proposes to build underground transportation networks beneath cities, fall not on ideological grounds but practical ones: some civil engineers just call it pie in the sky.
But there is one skyward thrust of Musk’s sci-tech empire that attracts almost universal praise – the aerospace enterprise SpaceX. The Netflix documentary Return to Space, directed by Oscar winners Elizabeth Chai Vasarhelyi and Jimmy Chin, chronicles the company’s development of a recyclable rocket and its collaboration with NASA to get this country back into human space exploration.

For decades, the public has been fascinated by humans traveling into space. However, with the privatization of space travel that has taken off over the past few years, veteran astronauts have been forced to adapt to the presence of cameras more than ever before.
“It’s not easy to open up your life like that when you’re concentrating on the job at hand,” said Doug Hurley, the NASA astronaut who was one of two co-pilots on the first SpaceX-designed Dragon spacecraft to fly humans into orbit. “The private space industry has really just gone crazy.”
The entertainment industry has entered low-Earth orbit, and it’s poised to stick around, whether astronauts want it there or not. Hurley is among the main subjects of “Return to Space,” the latest space-related Netflix project that reflects the streamer’s ongoing investment in the new space era, and its second produced in...

On July 8, 2011, Doug Hurley served among a crew of four astronauts to make the last-ever launch on the space shuttle. Once Atlantis serenely glided its way back to Earth 12 days later, NASA's incredibly popular (but also exorbitantly expensive) shuttle program came to an end after 30 years. Of course, the retirement of the fleet of shuttle orbiters meant that the historically self-sufficient space administration no longer had a way to bring astronauts to space, particularly to the International Space Station. Thus began a fraught decade of the United States relying on Russian rockets for space travel -- pricey...

Discovery and Science Channel’s simulcasted coverage Sunday of the return of the Space X Crew Dragon spacecraft from its two-month stint at the International Space Station was watched by 4.3 million viewers on the cable networks, Discovery said.
The strong numbers completed the networks’ own mission, after their two-hour live coverage of the historic launch on May 30 drew a combined 7.2 million viewers. Both the launch and landing repped the No. 1 telecasts for the day across key demos. Sunday’s coverage drew 3.4M viwers on Discovery and 1.0 million on Science, with the total cracking the top 10 for the day in all of TV in that metric.
Discovery said its networks’ coverage of the SpaceX capsule splashing down – just south of Pensacola on Florida’s Gulf coast, at 2:48 p.m. Et — also fueled 5.6 million social video views on Discovery and 5.5M on Science, ranking them No. 1 and No. 2 on the day.

They’re baaa-ackk. NASA astronauts Doug Hurley and Bob Behnken returned safely to Earth after a two-month stay on the space station.
The SpaceX Dragon Capsule splashed down just south of Pensacola on Florida’s Gulf coast at 2:48 Pm Et, marking a successful end to the first successful journey into space by a private company.
NASA is looking forward to the privitization of earth orbit space travel as a way to save money for future trips to the moon and Mars.
“On behalf of the SpaceX and Nasa teams, welcome back to Planet Earth. Thanks for flying SpaceX,” the SpaceX mission control said just after splashdown, which touched the water at an estimated 15 mph.
Recovery vessels are now working to lift the capsule out of the water. The astronauts will then be able to get out and will be checked by a medical staff before being flown to shore.

SpaceX and Nasa’s historic launch of its crewed Falcon 9 rocket to the International Space Station planned for Wednesday has been postponed because of weather problems. The mission was scrubbed with 16 minutes, 54 seconds left on the countdown at Cape Canaveral, Fl. They will try again with an instantaneous window on Saturday, May 30 at 3:22 Pm Et.
Launch director Mike Taylor announced the scrub after what amounted to a great practice run, with Nasa astronauts Bob Behnken and Doug Hurley already on board the Crew Dragon and liquid oxygen and fuel partially loaded for the first private, commercially built manned spaceflight in U.S. history.
Communications between the spacecraft and mission controls at Kennedy Space Center and at SpaceX in Hawthorne, CA suggested that if the window had been 10 minutes wider, the launch would have been possible. The shuttle carries supplies for the International Space Station. Commander Chris Ferguson, Pilot Doug Hurley and mission specialists Sandy Magnus and Rex Walheim will go down in history as the final crew to undertake a shuttle mission.
Across the Internet, astronaut aficionados watched the launch -- which was broadcast live by Nasa -- and tweeted their reactions.
