The Filming Italy — Los Angeles fest, which runs March 18-21, is a bridgehead between Italy and Hollywood. Here are some of the event’s highlights:
‘The Life Ahead’ panel
“The Life Ahead” director Edoardo Ponti, which is an Italian Netflix Original, will hold an online conversation with Diane Warren, who wrote the film’s theme song “Io Si (Seen).” “The Life Ahead” will be the fest’s opener.
‘It Was Spring Outside’
This life-in-lockdown doc by Oscar-winning director Gabriele Salvatores will have its U.S. premiere at Filming in Italy after launching at the Rome Film Festival. December’s really what we’re hanging on for, Amazon Prime Video-wise. That’s when the new 10-episode season of The Expanse lands. November though, does have a couple of likely streaming candidates in the form of dark comedy Wayne, which, with its teen-road-trip and nihilist violence vibe, sounds like just the thing for a fan of Channel 4’s excellent The End of the F***ing World. There’s also the fifth and final season of Syfy’s The Magicians, plus new Alan Ball film Uncle Frank, starring Paul Bettany, which had a warm reception at this year’s Sundance Film Festival.
As the sneak-release of Borat Subsequent Moviefilm shows, Amazon Prime Video is capable of surprising us. In addition to the confirmed new November releases below, there will be more on their way which we’ll add as and when they arrive.

Louisville, Kentucky-born, Staten Island-raised Michael Rainey Jr. may be only 20, but his acting résumé already spans more than a decade.
He was first noticed at age 9 strolling on the streets of New York with his mom; that chance encounter with a talent scout led to work in TV commercials. But it was an Italian music video that served as Rainey’s launching pad. That video, for Tiziano Ferro’s “Il Regalo Più Grande” — in which Rainey portrayed a sweet-faced boy playing pitch and catch with his dad — was put into heavy rotation on MTV Italia and noticed by ...

What comes to your mind when you hear the word Sanam? As a Bollywood music lover, I think of none other than India’s Fantastic Four who have clocked a whopping 2.7 million subscribers (and counting!) at their YouTube channel, thanks to their wonderful renditions of retro classic hits, modern hits and original compositions.
The fantastic four comprise of brothers Sanam Puri (lead vocals) and Samar Puri (lead guitar), Venky S (bass guitar) and Keshav Dhanraj (drums). I would say they are India’s most commercially successful band, and they have enthralled audiences in various concerts both internationally and in India. As a band, Sanam have also succeeded in bridging the gap between the younger and older generations, through their retro renditions.
I have been fortunate enough to have a chat with the band, to gauge their thoughts on current music trends, whose music they like listening to, and much more!

We all know Penelope Cruz can dance and act -- and now she's shown that she can also definitely sing.
As if her debut singing for the 2006 film "Volver" and 2009 “Nine” weren’t enough, recently a new video of the Spanish actress was released with Cruz looking very sensual while performing a duo with her compatriot Miguel Bosé.
The black-and-white video shows both artists in different hotel rooms, where the actress boasts her sweet voice and throws herself onto the bed dressed in sexy lingerie, while singing “Decirnos Adiós” (Saying ‘Good Bye’), composed by her brother Eduardo Cruz.
"Penelope sings fabulously and, above all, she has a lot of personality in her voice and enjoys it a lot, something that you can't say about everyone," Bosé told Spanish wire service Efe.

2010 may well have been a tipping point for gay public figures and the closet. The generally great reception celebrities have lately received for pro-actively coming out has got to be encouraging.
At the same time, the old rules of discretion and secrecy that could generally be counted on in the mainstream media and the entertainment industry seem to have completely eroded. Closeted gay celebrities just can't depend on the press or their industry peers to keep their secrets any longer. No closet is airtight, and staying in one these days leaves you highly vulnerable to rumor and innuendo. Or worse. Just ask an alleged friend of Carrie Fisher.
So arguably, in 2010 the risks of the celebrity closet have became patently greater than the rewards.
Two major stars did the math and chose to get on the honest gay bus this year, declaring themselves well-adjusted and fully content gay men. Ricky Martin...

So I've Got This Theory...
This week I had the great misfortune of seeing the steaming pile of dog doo doo that is the Robert Downey Jr./Zach Galifianakis "comedy" Due Date which opens this Friday. The movie, director Todd Phillips' follow up to The Hangover, had been on my radar due to a trailer that had Ethan, Galifianakis' character, reading rather gay. Check it out in case you missed it.
Having suffered through seen the entire movie, I can report that the it presents Ethan as ostensibly being straight, if only by having him say in a blink-or-you'll-miss-it moment that he once dated a woman. Otherwise, he's pretty much neutered if effeminate throughout the film.
As for the sort of casual homophobia typical of these sorts of comedies (see The Hangover) there is refreshingly little of it present here, although the movie does let the word "faggot" fly once.

According to the synopsis for the Oct. 29 episode of Supernatural, one of the Winchester brothers "faces a truth about himself that sends the other brother reeling." Finally! After all these years Dean realizes he's in love with me. In ratings news, SyFy has renewed Haven for a second season, which means we can hopefully look forward to more Eric Balfour in undies. Last night's Modern Family held steady with last week's ratings, and was once again the top show of the night. How sweet is this? Matthew Mitcham is competing in New Delhi, India this weekend, and gay fans are preparing to show their support by wearing T-shirts and scarves in rainbow colors.
He loves his fans this much!
