“Take a leap of faith and try to make it happen,” Goo Goo Dolls front-man John Rzeznik declares about the band’s desire to find innovative ways to perform for their fans quarantining and isolating throughout 2020. It was that leap of faith that eventually resulted in their live holiday musical special “It’s Christmas All Over.”
“It was really a lot of fun. There’s some parts of it that are kind of cheeky, but I guess you’d say hopefully the tongue is firmly planted in the cheek, and what I loved about it was that it hearkens back to a lot of the old Christmas specials that we saw when we were little kids,” he says. Watch our exclusive video interview with Rzeznik and original Goo Goo Dolls collaborator Robby Takac above.

You know who they are - and they're back with a catchy new single! ""Iris" rockers the Goo Goo Dolls will release their eleventh full-length album, Boxes, this summer, and People has an exclusive first listen to its second single, "So Alive." A sunny, poppy departure from the alt-rockers' oft-moody canon, "So Alive" builds over a breezy piano melody and upbeat drum line. In his signature baritone rasp, vocalist Robby Takac sings an infectiously hopeful hook: "You can make it on a wish if you want to ... Breaking down the walls in my own mind, keeping my faith for the bad times / Get up,...

It’s not every day that I receive the following call: “Hey Michelle, want to go to Cancun on a party plane with the Goo Goo Dolls and VH1 Top 20?” After a couple of clicks on my trusty “Common Sense Abacus,” my calculations said “Duh.” Which is how I found myself at a very festive Lax terminal for Virgin America’s inaugural flight to Cancun, Mexico. Oh, look, a totally unposed photo! Yes, I wore my finest Three’s Company kimono-sleeved top for the occasion. The terminal was bustling. VH1 Top 20 was in the midst of filming (the episode premieres this Saturday at 9 Am Est – watch it), and everyone was uh-super jazzed. Mainly because they were handing out free chorizo by the gate. But seeing as it was 9 am, I was in the mood for something less “sausage party-ish.” And I found my answer, in the form of the Terminator 5 Of Pancake Contraptions: Self.

Perhaps borrowing from the mythical holiday Festivus, the new Goo Goo Dolls album is something for the rest of us. Literally. At the headquarters of Warner Bros, Records in Burbank, Fox All Access host Chris Leary met with all three band members — Johnny Rzeznik, Robby Takac, and Mike Malinin — to talk about Something For The Rest Of Us and the album’s first single, Home. Along the way, we find out how they stay healthy on the road, what they find inspiring these days, and why they hope their music is a little more timeless than Disco Duck.

The Goo Goo Dolls turned an already hot and steamy night on Chicago's waterfront into a true-blue scorcher Tuesday evening, as they performed a concert at the Charter One Pavilion at Northerly Island. The band is riding high on a mid-summer tour which included a stop-over in the Windy City. After a warm up from Switchfoot, Ggd front man John Rzeznik didn't bother with an intro; he and the boys just came out swinging. Displaying his own signature brand of cool, Rzeznik opened the show with the upbeat tune "Sweetest Lie," from their new CD Something for the Rest of Us. As he worked it out in true Rzeznik form, the crowd was in. He had them at hello. Like other pure-bred musical veterans, the Goo Goo Dolls know their audience, and how to connect. They're backed with a new album that reflects their take on the times, and that...

The Goo Goo Dolls are pumped. On the heels of completing their first studio album in almost four years, the boys from Buffalo are fist-bumping the Goo Goo nation with some fresh new tunes and a tricked-out tour. The Alternative Rock trio has taken some time out to observe, reflect, and create. Now they're taking the new songs out for a spin, and their fans could not be happier. The Dolls, after all, have a habitual fondness for the plight of the common man. Perhaps it's why they've endured for 25 years. That, along with their capacity for crafting catchy, yet relevant songs. This thinking-man's band made up of John Rzeznik, Robby Takac, and Mike Malinin, is in it for the duration -- and they're ready to rock and roll. We recently had the opportunity to speak with Goo Goo Dolls bassist/vocalist Robby Takac about the tour, the new record,...
