Odd Projects, the Los Angeles-based talent management company founded in 2020 by former Anonymous Content and WME manager Nate Ruff, has brought in Brian Sokolik as managing partner and Joshua Cohen (no relation to our Tubefilter co-founder) as talent manager.
Sokolik started his career in the mailroom at 3 Arts Entertainment and became a talent manager at Fullscreen before rising to Head of Digital at Authentic Talent. Cohen, meanwhile, was with Authentic Talent for 11 years, working first in unscripted and endorsements, and then moving into digital.
Both Sokolik and Cohen have “first-class relationships” in the industry, Ruff told Deadline.
They’re bringing their talent rosters with them to Odd Projects, including clients like chef/creator/Nyt bestselling author Joshua Weissman, musician Alex Warren (who has 20 million followers on TikTok), and adventurous YouTuber Mike Corey, the host of channel Fearless & Far.

The BBC is reportedly developing a new historical crime series that is being billed as a “spiritual successor” to Peaky Blinders.
Set in early 20th-century Soho, London, the high-budget series would be based on the non-fiction book Dope Girls: The Birth of the British Drug Underground by Marek Kohn.
According to a report in Deadline, the BBC is looking to commission a six-episode series, produced by Bad Wolf Productions, previously responsible for the broadcaster’s adaptation of Phillip Pullman’s His Dark Materials trilogy.
The outlet also reports that Polly Stenham (The Neon Demon) and Alex Warren (Eleanor) are in the process of writing the series.
It is claimed that the series will blend historical fact with storytelling invention, and will focus on the criminal underbelly of old Soho.
At the centre of the story, claims the report, is conservative single mother Kate Meyrick, who builds a nightclub and criminal empire from the ground up.

Alex Warren has unveiled his debut label single, “Headlights.” The vulnerable ballad, which he has been teasing for the past month, documents the singer’s ongoing battle with anxiety and depression.
“‘Headlights’ is about anxiety, feeling like an audience member watching your own life, and all the things you can’t control,” 21-year-old TikTok star explained to Rolling Stone. “This song means a lot to me because it perfectly describes how I’m currently feeling, as opposed to my previous tracks, which were more focused on events from my past.

Alex Warren is unplugging from the Internet—well, sort of. In his new podcast Locked In With Alex Warren, debuting on April 20, the TikToker and Hype House star has banned his guests from using their cellphones while recording. They're left in a room with only Alex and his microphone for a candid one-on-one interview. Although the situation can sometimes lead to "action-packed mayhem," a term Alex used to describe the podcast's inaugural episode with Tana Mongeau, he told E! News in an exclusive interview that the project has become more of a space for content creators and influencers to share their stories and set the record straight about their lives. AwesomenessTV (Atv), the Viacom-owned content network with a slew of hit Gen Z-skewing shows, is set to introduce a new reality competition series set in a TikTok collab house.
And Atv has nabbed none other than The Hype House's own Alex Warren to host Atv’s Next Influencer, which premiers on Nov. 22. Rather than forming another TikTok creator collective, however -- like the aforementioned Hype House or Sway LA -- Awesomeness is setting its sights on Project 305, a ten-month-old, predominantly Latinx faction based in Miami.
The nascent group, also known as 305 House, has amassed 192,000 TikTok followers to date after launching their account in January. The cast of Next Influencer will comprise Valeria Arguelles, Nicole (Colie) Nuanez, Owen Holt, Julian Jara, Jovani Jara, Jada Wesley, Gaby Obregon, Raul Encio, and Sabrina Quesadahas.

Abrams Artists Agency, which rebranded earlier this month as A3 Artists Agency, is forging onward with its TikTok representation.
The talent firm has signed Kouvr Annon, a member of the massively popular -- though increasingly controversy-plagued -- Hype House, which is a faction of TikTok stars living and creating together in a lavish Hollywood mansion. The House -- which is also affiliated with top stars like Charli D’Amelio and Addison Rae -- is currently beset by a legal battle in which alleged co-founder Daisy Keech has filed suit against two of the group’s other apparent co-founders, Chase Hudson and Thomas Petrou.
Annon was born and raised in Hawaii, though recently moved into the Hype House, where she is churning out content with fellow members for TikTok (5.8 million followers) as well as YouTube (281,000 subscribers) and Instagram (952,000 followers). The 19-year-old’s content includes Diy, beauty, and dance. She also frequently features...

Daisy Keech, a social influencer and fitness model who claims to be one co-founder of TikTok creator collective The Hype House -- an allegation that is disputed by oft-credited founders Thomas Petrou and Chase Hudson -- moved out of The Hype House's Los Angeles mansion. Keech has also filed a federal lawsuit against influencer-entrepreneur Petrou and Hudson, a 17-year-old eboy with 17.8 million followers on the microvideo app.
According to Forbes, Keech collected her remaining belongings from The Hype House, flanked by an armed security guard, earlier this month. And Keech's latest suit accuses Petrou and Hudson of striking business deals without her knowledge or involvement, exiling her from the group, and attempting to position themselves as the only co-founders of the venture.
Keech alleges she came up with the idea for The Hype House with Petrou last fall. The two then teamed up with Hudson before onboarding two other stars:...

Move aside Instagram, in comes Tik Tok. The Tik Tok app is now what everyone is talking about. Stars are born from that app on a daily basis and it seems that there is no stopping its rise. A lot of teenagers and youth are finding their fame and fortune from Tik Tok. Formally called Musical.ly, the app has formed the basis of providing entertainment and a money mill for stars such as Lauren Godwin, Addison Rae, Bryce Hall, Sebastian Bails, and Alex Warren just to mention a few. It seems that the Asian community has also not been left

Soho 1918 comes from rising playwright, screenwriter and director Polly Stenham and Alex Warren, director of Ruth Wilson-fronted short Eleanor.
Bad Wolf, which makes A Discovery of Witches for Sky and is prepping Lena Dunham’s Industry for HBO, is in the midst of pitching the drama to global streamers and international broadcasters.
It follows the birth of the nightclub scene in Soho and tells the true story of a conservative, god-fearing 42-year old single mother, Kate Meyrick (above), who builds a nightclub empire and criminal family enterprise, becoming the most dangerous woman in London as well as a competitor to Brilliant Chang, the baron of Soho’s gritty underworld. After last week's Robot Wars arena blaze, we chat to cool expert Dr Chris Aldham about how to keep a robot from bursting into flames...
Between flamethrowers and fire pits, in the Arena of Destruction it’s all too easy for robots and roboteers to get a little hot under the collar. While most viewers would be happy to watch the new series and appreciate it for little more than the fiery destruction it is, we had to take it that step further and unleash our inner geek.
That’s why we took a look under the hood of this year’s competitors to find out how they’ve tried – and in some cases failed – to stop their machines bursting into flames.
To lead us on this journey, we spoke to Dr Chris Aldham, a thermal management expert from simulation software firm 6SigmaET. With over thirty years...

Once upon a time, when The Playlist was a fledgling blog, we had a semi-regular column called Videodrome, which looked at the world of music videos. While we focus mostly on movies, we've always maintained an interest in the places where they cross over with music, and the promo world has provided us with directors from Spike Jonze and David Fincher to Michael Bay and Francis Lawrence, as well as occasionally featured big name stars.
Between one thing and another, we let the column lapse a little, but music videos have by no means become less important: the month began with one promo veteran, Nima Nourizadeh, making his directorial debut with "Project X," while the last few weeks have seen Jake Gyllenhaal get murderous in a clip for The Shoes; Lance Bangs roll with Odd Future in the fun "Oldie" and Brett Ratner become attached to a project about the history of MTV.
