Halloween II and III are the first releases from Shout! Factory’s upcoming Scream Factory line of horror titles. They will be released to Blu-ray/DVD on September 18th and we have multiple clips from both movies, along with the original trailers.
“Picking up exactly where the first film left off, Halloween II follows the same ill-fated characters as they once again encounter the knife-wielding maniac they thought they had left for dead. It seems the inhuman Michael Myers is still very much alive and out for more revenge as he stalks the deserted halls of the Haddonfield Memorial Hospital. As he gets closer to his main target, Dr. Loomis (Donald Pleasence) discovers the chilling mystery behind the crazed psychopath’s actions.
Written by John Carpenter and Debra Hill, Halloween II is a spine-tingling dark ride into the scariest night of the year.”

When I was growing up in Texas, there was a channel that showed the most outrageous horror films, and the majority of the time, they were even uncensored. The problem is, as you grow older, it becomes increasingly harder and harder to find these films. For a nostalgia buff like myself, this is criminal. Fortunately, for myself and I’m certain many others, there’s Scream Factory, the new horror based off-shoot of the great label, Shout Factory.
So, it’s with great pleasure that we announce that on September 18, 2012, Shout! Factory is releasing Halloween II Collector’s Edition and Halloween III: Season of the Witch 30th Anniversary Special Collector’s Edition on Blu-ray and DVD. These two films have long been unavailable on home video and frankly, now’s the time to buy! They’ll be releasing tins of titles over the next couple of months, like They Live...

Earlier this month Titan Books released Joss Whedon: The Complete Companion, a compilation of pieces by the magazine/website PopMatters, and we have an excerpt from the book to share exclusively with Dread Central readers.
Read the excerpt below, check out our Joss Whedon: The Complete Companion: The TV Series, the Movies, the Comic Books and More: The Essential Guide to the Whedonverse review, and then grab the newly released book from the EvilShop!
“The strength and conviction to lose so relentlessly”: Heroism in Angel
Ian Mathers
“Evil happens without effort, naturally, fatally; Good is always the product of some art.”
—Charles Baudelaire, “The Painter of Modern Life”
“In a fight between you and the world, bet on the world.”
—Franz Kafka, “Aphorism 52”
“Not Fade Away,” the final episode of Angel, ends the show with (most of) the Angel Investigations (A.I.) team facing down a literal army of demons.

Almost one year ago, when we launched at Big Daddy, one of our first posts was about 10 horror films in need of a DVD or Blu-Ray release. The Nesting and Twice Dead which both made the list are now either out on DVD or about to be released. Other titles that made the list included The Pack, Night Warning, Massacre at Central High, Dance of the Damned, Children of the Corn II: The Final Sacrifice, Deadly Blessing, The Kindred and Killer Party. With this second annual edition, we hope to spotlight more horror films that have fallen through the cracks. Titles that haven't been released beyond VHS (with the exception of one, that has only been released to VOD) that need the attention of us horror fans and distributors to make these titles readily available for our horror movie watching enjoyment.

Skip Schoolnik is the director behind the 80's slasher Hide and Go Shriek. Hide and Go Shriek is one of those films that featured some up and coming talent along with some actors that dropped off the face of the earth. The cast included Bunky Jones, Brittain Frye (Slumber Party Massacre III), Sean Kanan (The Karate Kid Part III), Ria Pavia (Candyman), Annette Sinclair, Donna Baltron (Shallow Grave 1987), Scott Fults, and George Thomas. Hide and Go Shriek deals with a group of teenagers who sneak into a furniture store to have an after hours graduation party unaware that a killer has followed them and is picking people off one by one as they play a game of hide and seek. Here is what Skip had to say about making his first film, Hide and Go Shriek.
So who is Skip Schoolnik and what are you all about?
I'm all about doing great work.
