Following the success of Kathy Burke's Little Cracker short film, which aired on Sky 1 over Christmas 2010, the actress has written her first ever TV series, which has been picked up by Sky Atlantic.

The four-part Walking and Talking tells stories inspired from her teenage years - time spent skiving from school with her best friend, talking about boys and planning for the future. Her Little Cracker told of how a chance meeting with The Clash changed her life.

Kathy Burke is to write and star in a new show for Sky Atlantic. Walking and Talking will follow on from the comedy star's semi-autobiographical Little Cracker film, which transmitted on Sky1 over Christmas 2010. The series will see Upstairs Downstairs star Ami Metcalf reprise her role as a young Kathy, while Luther's Aimee-Ffion Edwards will also reappear as her friend Mary. Comedians have named Frankie Boyle as the nation's most offensive stand-up in a poll commissioned by television channel Dave. The comedian, who was recently cleared for his joke about Katie Price's disabled son Harvey, beat Us-born comic and magician Jerry Sadowitz into second place. Last we heard, director Louis Leterrier was musing on a strange disaster movie about the Earth losing its gravitational pull. That's apparently still on the cards, but before that, Leterrier will direct Now You See Me, a stratospherically high-concept heist thriller with a script by Boaz Yakin and Edward Ricourt.The film involves an FBI squad on the trail of, seriously, a team of the world's greatest illusionists who have taken to pulling off bank robberies during their performances. So it's Point Break meets Ocean's Eleven meets The Prestige meets Davids Copperfield and Blane. Or Penn & Teller. Or Gerry Sadowitz. Or something. Comedian and close-up magician Jerry Sadowitz has paid tribute to the composer John Barry, who died this week at the age of 77.
