Next Day Air
Directed by: Benny Boom
Cast: Donald Faison, Mike Epps, Cisco Reyes, Mos Def
Time: 1 hr, 30 minutes
Rating: R
Plot: An unthinkably outlandish tale about a young postal worker whose life is turned upside down when one procedural mistake lands him in the middle of an underground war between would-be drug dealers, oddly-named thugs, and Mexican drug lords so intimidating it nearly trumps their very existence. A comical take on how being down on your luck doesn’t nearly measure up to having a very large price on your perpetually “altered” head.
Who’s It For?: TV fans will be lured into this because of Faison’s (Turk on “Scrubs”) inclusion. Since he broke onto the big screen in Clueless his movie career has left much to be desired. Now a TV star, his return to the silver screen is a welcome happening. With a supporting cast...

Next Day Air
Starring Donald Faison, Mike Epps, and Wood Harris
Directed by Benny Boom
Rated R
For a few unconnected moments, Next Day Air actually works. The entire idea behind it isn't very sound, and that proves very hard to overcome, but some individual scenes are Ok, but that's the best than can be said of the film.
The real problem is that Next Day Air is essentially a comedy of mistaken identity - the kind of thing a farce is built on - but since it involves coke dealers and a shipment gone wrong, it's hard to laugh at the drawn guns and consequences. But Next Day Air doesn't inform us enough that we know whether or not we're supposed to.
Directed by music video veteran Benny Boom, Next Day Air begins with a lazy courier (Donald Faison from Scrubs) delivering a box to the wrong apartment. What...

Far from the worst of Taran tino knockoffs, "Next Day Air" takes the standard formula of dimwits chasing bags of drugs to the 'hood.
A stoned deliveryman (Donald Faison) mistakenly delivers a huge box of cocaine to the wrong address, where lowlifes Guch (Wood Harris) and Brody (Mike Epps) try to figure out what to do with it. On the couch sleeps a huge guy neither of them invited to live with them, but both of them are too afraid to ask him to leave.

Space -- the final frontier. These are the voyages of the Starship Enterprise. Its five year mission: to explore strange new worlds. To seek out new life and new civilizations. To boldly go where no man has gone before. Yes, the weekend that all Trekkies have been waiting for -- ever since this flick was moved back to the summer from last winter -- is finally here. Star Trek opens and will no doubt be the number one movie at the box office this weekend. In fact, its opening is sooner than a lot of people think, on Thursday night with 7 pm screenings happening in a reported 3,800 theaters. So it promises to be a very big weekend indeed for science fiction fans. I'll have plenty to say about that, but I'll start off first by getting out of the way my thoughts about this weekend's cinematic roadkill, Next Day Air. It's...

Summit Entertainment has the chance for a big 2009 with some bonafide features in its sack and following up the late year bank account bulge thanks to Twilight, which will see its sequel, New Moon released in November. Other than that you have the intriguing Paul McGuigan feature Push, a return to the big screen for Alex Proyas with Knowing (although this one worries me), Kathryn Bigelow's The Hurt Locker (brand new trailer for that one here), the delayed Brothers Bloom from Rian Johnson and the animated Astro Boy, which I know a lot of people are interested in. All the cast, director and synopsis information is listed over the course of the next few pages as well as all the release dates for 9 new features. Gallery links have been added for all films where applicable and remember, the links open in a new browser window so just close the...

We are pleased to provide you with synopses and/or photography for Summit Entertainment's 2009 lineup including "Astro Boy," "New Moon," "Next Day Air," "Bandslam," "The Brothers Bloom," "Knowing," "Push" and "Sorority Row." Summit Entertainment's biggest hit thus far has naturally been the big screen adaptation of Stephenie Meyer's "Twilight." Under a new helmer, the "New Moon" follow-up should prove a more well-rounded, better captured film than the first which was marred by cheap effects. Another one to watch for turning in strong numbers would be the David Bowers helmed "Astro Boy" interpretation. Nicolas Cage fans will be hoping for a better effort from the constant action-film-making actor after the horrendous "Bangkok Dangerous." Under the guidance of "I, Robot" helmer Alex Proyas, Cage may redeem himself. Push Release Date: 2/6/09 Rating: PG-13 Cast: Chris Evans, Dakota Fanning, Camilla Belle, Djimon Hounsou Director: Paul McGuigan A riveting action-thriller, Push burrows...
