Irish production outfit and prolific international partner Wild Atlantic Pictures has appointed two ex-Screen Ireland executives to its fast-growing team.
Teresa McGrane, formerly deputy CEO at Screen Ireland, joins as chief operating office, and Dearbhla Regan, who was project manager at Screen Ireland until 2022 is the new head of film and talent development.
McGrane spent two decades at Screen Ireland where she played a key role in the development of policies and initiatives since 2001.
Regan most recently executive-produced Irish language Oscar nominee and box office success The Quiet Girl.

The new promotional organisation will kick off later this month with the first in an annual festival roadshow in Los Angeles and New York.
The flagship event will kick off with the Isa/La Festival on September 25 in Los Angeles at the USC School Of Cinematic Arts, while the Isa/NY Festival launches on October 2 in New York at Nyu’s Cantor Film Center.
The slate will include the Us Premiere of Frank Berry’s teen drama I Used to Live Here, the West Coast premiere of Daisy Asquith’s After The Dance, Screen La Star Of Tomorrow Gerard Barrett’s Sundance entry Glassland and the Us premiere of Traders (pictured) by Rachel Moriarty and Peter Murphy.

At the second VFX + Animation Summit Dublin, international experts and growing local companies gathered to talk about issues such as global competition, tight schedules and training needs. Wendy Mitchell reports.
As Ireland’s VFX and animation industries continue to grow steadily, international experts have reminded the sector that competing in a global marketplace is not just about skills and technical prowess.
“The role of the VFX industry is to help stories; it’s important we embed storytelling from the beginning,” said Darren O’Kelly, MD of London-based The Mill, in his keynote address that kicked off the VFX + Animation Summit Dublin (November 29-30). “We must not let VFX and animation become a substitute for great stories.”
He continued: “I feel for some of our comrades who worked on projects like John Carter; there were absolutely breathtaking effects but a film like that gets neglected after a poor opening weekend… Unless we’re connecting with audiences we’re irrelevant...

Exclusive: The Irish animation and VFX industries are getting a new apprenticeship programme, backed by Animation Skillnet, Screen Training Ireland and the Irish Film Board.
Gareth Lee, manager at Animation Skillnet, told Screen at this weekend’s VFX Summit in Dublin that the scheme was the “first programme of its kind in Ireland.”
The pilot edition for 2015, which will open for applications in the new year, will offer 10 places for apprentices to work at different studios in Ireland. The trainees are likely to be “recent graduates looking for their first break into the industry,” he said.
Companies that have shown interest in having apprentices include Brown Bag, Windmill Lane, Screen Scene and Giant Animation.
“It is predominantly based in Ireland but we are also exploring the possibilities that some of them will spend time abroad,” Lee said.

More than twenty Irish companies have registered to attend the Mipcom market in Cannes with Enterprise Ireland's and Ifb's Ireland on Screen stand. Irish companies who will be represented at the market include Adare Productions, Big Mountain Productions, Cartoon Saloon, Brown Bag Films, Screentime Shinawil and Tyrone Productions.
