Like French Exit, for some there is a suggestion that An Irish Goodbye is to leave without saying anything. The Russians and the Poles join in; for them it's "to leave in the English way." The Germans attribute it to the Poles, and so on. Like syphilis it seems a habit a bad habit that crosses borders, and being set in Northern Ireland the film has plenty of those to juggle.
What it doesn't have is no goodbye. The film is built around a list, voiced by the recently departed mother of Lorcan and his elder, expatriate brother Turlough. While she might have left, Michelle Fairley's Grainne still has something to say, albeit in voiceover. Played by James Martin, her younger son Lorcan is the engine of the film. It's his desire to help his mother achieve her hundred aims that gives structure to proceedings. As an actor with Down's,...

The Movie: "Bill & Ted's Bogus Journey"
Where You Can Stream It: Prime Video
The Pitch: Are you feeling stressed right now? Overwhelmed? Perhaps a little Keanu Reeves will help. It always does.
Let's take a journey back to 1991. Bill S. Preston, Esquire (Alex Winter), and Ted "Theodore" Logan (Reeves) know the future. Their terrible band Wyld Stallyns will create a utopia someday, where everyone lives in harmony through their music. They know this because a time traveler called Rufus (George Carlin) comes back to visit them in the first film in a payphone booth, and takes them on a journey through time.
Now that future is in jeopardy because one gym teacher in the future sends back evil robots to...

Andrew Garfield discussed method acting while sitting down for an interview on the podcast Wtf With Marc Maron. While preparing to play a Jesuit missionary in 2016’s Silence, which was directed by Martin Scorsese, Garfield discussed how he used method acting to defend it against the critics who call it completely useless.
“I’m kind of bothered by this idea that ‘method acting is fucking bullshit.’ People are still acting in that way, and it’s not about being an asshole to everyone on set,” Garfield told Marc Maron. “It’s actually just about living truthfully under imaged circumstances, and being nice to the crew simultaneously, and being a normal human being, and being able to drop it when you need to.”
Garfield also explained what exactly he did to prepare for his role as Sebastiāo Rodrigues. “I did a bunch of spiritual practices every day, I created new rituals for myself.

As part of his method acting, Andrew Garfield has gone through “trippy” experiences while giving up sex and starving himself.
To prepare for his role as a 17th century Jesuit priest in Martin Scorsese’s 2016 missionary film “Silence”, which also featured Liam Neeson and Adam Driver, Garfield said he went celibate and without food, reports aceshowbiz.com.
“I did a bunch of spiritual practices every day, I created new rituals, I was celibate for six months and I was fasting a lot,” Garfield told Monday’s episode of the “Wtf with Marc Maron” podcast.
“It was very cool, man. I had some pretty wild, trippy experiences from starving myself of sex and food at that time.”
Garfeild also spent a year studying in preparation for the film under Jesuit writer Father James Martin, 61, who helped the actor research Catholicism.
The actor added about the sacrifices, which led to a 2017 best...

Method acting has taken something of a beating from celebrities in recent years, with stars like Brian Cox, David Harbour and Mads Mikkelsen calling the process “dangerous,” “pretentious” and even a “disease.” But the art form has a defender in Andrew Garfield, who spoke about the method in an interview on popular podcast “Wtf with Marc Maron.”
“There [have] been a lot of misconceptions about what method acting is, I think,” Garfield said. “People are still acting in that way, and it’s not about being an asshole to everyone on set. It’s actually just about living truthfully under imagined circumstances, and being really nice to the crew simultaneously, and being a normal human being, and being able to drop it when you need to and staying in it when you want to stay in it.”
