The Clinton campaign sent cease and desist letters to four local television stations in Florida on Monday demanding they stop airing an anti-Hillary Clinton attack ad that features First Lady Michelle Obama, one of Clinton’s most fierce and affectionate advocates in this year’s campaign, taking what some have interpreted as a swipe at the Clintons during the 2008 election.
The ad, titled “Can’t Run Her House” and paid for by a pro-Donald Trump Super Pac, includes a clip of Michelle Obama speaking at a campaign event in Chicago on Aug. 12, 2007, when her husband, Barack Obama, and...

Robert Altman's murder tale reeks of insider access and Hollywood hipster Bs; its main claim to greatness is its fifty-plus star cameos. The Player Blu-ray The Criterion Collection 812 1992 / Color /1:85 widescreen / 124 min. / Available through The Criterion Collection / Street Date May 24, 2016 / 39.95 Starring Tim Robbins, Greta Scacchi, Fred Ward, Whoopi Goldberg, Peter Gallagher, Brion James, Cynthia Stevenson, Vincent D'Onofrio, Lyle Lovett. Robert Altman's filmography is undergoing what looks like a full retrospective through Criterion; even the 1975 title Nashville came out not long ago. This very successful later picture marks a revitalization of the director's career. It's sort of a Kafkaesque spin on Hail,...

Robin Wright gives a superb performance in Ari Folman's sci-fi dystopia, The Congress. Here's Cameron's review...
“How do I know if I’m dreaming?” asks actress Robin Wright, played, somewhat surprisingly, by actress Robin Wright, in a moment towards the denouement of this part live action, part animated film examining the meaning of existence and the potentiality of a digital future.
Sadly, by this point, you may not care if the House Of Cards star is dreaming or not as any semblance of reality and cohesive story-telling have been abandoned in this brave, challenging but ultimately problematic piece of work from the man behind the notable Waltz With Bashir (2008), Ari Folman.
The Congress begins with Wright facing the fact that the studios don’t want to work with her; her character here is notoriously difficult and forges her own way in the ‘biz, making her own choices. She is offered,...

Released 20 years ago this week , "The Player" seemed at the time like one of the most merciless lampoons of Hollywood ever made, but director Robert Altman liked to insist that it was "a very mild satire." He meant that it could have been even meaner if he'd made it more realistic. Altman was working from Michael Tolkin's screenplay, adapted from Tolkin's own novel, but the observations it made about the movie industry's contempt for art and artists were clearly informed by Altman's own decades of frustration as a creative filmmaker with a singular, idiosyncratic vision who repeatedly clashed with executives interested only in profit. Judging by how many Hollywood A-listers he got to do free cameos in the movie -- about five dozen of them -- a lot of the industry's top talent must have felt as he did. So did critics and audiences, who helped make the movie...

Babycakes NYC bakery has opened up a new location in Downtown Disney at Disney World Orlando!
Babycakes NYC is a specialty bakery with gluten-free and vegan options that are all-natural, organic, and free from common allergens, like wheat, gluten, dairy, casein, and eggs. Oh, and their desserts are amazingly delicious!
Babycakes NYC founder Erin McKenna announced the news yesterday on the shop's blog. McKenna said she was approached two years ago by restaurateur Larry Levy of Spiaggia to partner with him on a project to bring healthier food to Disney. Along with Babycakes NYC, comes Levy's other eateries Pollo Campero and Fresh Apeel. (Apparently, McDonald's got the old boot back in April, who knew? Buh-bye!)
Right now, the bakery at Downtown Disney does not have sign, but you can find them by going into the building marked Fresh Apeel; the bakery is in the right hand nook. Also, the phones aren't working there yet,...

The Player is a mystery shrouded in Hollywood from one of the mostly highly praised directors. Not that Robert Altman didn.t have much love for the system that Hollywood runs on since the film has some biting satire on the lunacy present in that same system. Griffin Mill (Tim Robbins) has a cushy job as a producer and is on a higher rung in the Hollywood system. He hears numerous pitches a year but only a few lucky projects actually get made. A film can live or die on Mill.s word. However, if you.re at such lofty heights you.re always aware of the fall from them. That comes when an upstart named Larry Levy (Peter Gallagher) is...
