MidWest WeirdFest has announced its first programming wave for 2023 today. The cinematic celebration of all things fantastic, frightening, paranormal, and just plain weird, is now in its 7th year. The festival takes place March 3-5, 2023 at the Micon Downtown Cinema in Eau Claire, Wisconsin.
Says MidWest WeirdFest founder and programming director Dean Bertram:
The weirdest festival of the season is less than two months away, and I’m delighted to announce some of the genre, underground and esoteric gems we’re offering audiences this year. From brand new UFO and Bigfoot documentaries, through offbeat and ultra-violent comedies, to nightmare inducing films featuring an assortment of witches, cyber terrors, and gore-splattered serial killers… and that’s just in the fest’s first programming wave!
Discounted festival passes are now on sale here: https://filmfreeway.com/MidWestWeirdFest/tickets
Individual tickets to each film will go on sale closer to the festival...

88 Films have really been treating horror fans well lately with their recent titles and they are keeping that trend going with their latest release in their Slasher Classics Collection, The Bogey Man. A film that actually made it onto the Video Nasty list, Ulli Lommel’s horror film isn’t what you would call a conventional slasher but it’s a good one none the less.
When Lacey (Suzanna Love) witnesses her brother Willy (Nicholas Love) kill a man through the reflection of a mirror they are both haunted by the memory and leaving them with a fear of mirrors and Willy unable to speak ever since. Twenty years later when the mirror is shattered the man’s evil spirit is...

Personally, I'm unfamiliar with The Ron James Show, because it airs only in Canada. Living in the culturally secluded Alabama, I have no way to watch Canadian television. However, after looking at the most recent press release for CBC's The Ron James Show, I have to say I wish I could watch the show. Why? Because it has a mash-up so absurd that it's hilarious: Nazis and Glee. Need I say more?
Canadians, check out The Ron James Show when it airs on Friday at 8pm (8:30 Nt) on CBC-tv. In the meantime, take a look at this press release for the upcoming episode:
In this week’s episode of The Ron James Show, comedian Ron James is joined by a chorus of special guests to help offer his unique take on history, tolerance and harmonizing: Glee clubs in Nazi Germany? Meanwhile, the Mayor is feeling disoriented, L’il Ronnie...

It's not all Americana here at TVOvermind. Yours truly hails from Canada – Toronto to be exact – so when we got an invitation to attend CBC's 2010 Upfront presentation, one of our contributing writers was off and running to the red carpet. Sarah tells me that she had a great time speaking with some of the stars and snapping photos. We've pulled together some red carpet pics and snippets from her interviews below. I also suspect she made an enemy out of figure skater Kurt Browning, but I'm hoping he forgets all about that.

The CBC is a Canadian institution. Like most Canadians, I have a special affinity with the network. It's the reason I was born in Canada, it helped form my early childhood TV habits and it's still the source of a handful of my favourite shows. However, for a long time now, the CBC has suffered...

TORONTO -- Conan O'Brien is mobilizing north of the border to help Toronto shake off its Typhoid Mary image. NBC's Late Night With Conan O'Brien is set to air from Toronto on Feb. 10-13 -- with an army of homegrown Canadian talent in the guest chair -- in hopes of boosting local tourism, which has taken a hit because of last year's SARS outbreak. "With a large number of Canadian celebrities living and working around the world, the thought was some of them might help Toronto if asked to do so," said Peter Soumalias, co-founder of the Canadian Walk of Fame and an organizer of Late Night's four-night stand. Canadian performers Mike Myers, Michael J. Fox and Eric McCormack have been enlisted as guests for the Toronto shows. Also set to appear are Adam Sandler, Canadian comic Ron James and homegrown music acts Nickelback and Barenaked Ladies, NBC said Tuesday. Further guest announcements are expected in the coming days.
