Kudos to all of you out there who predicted the coming of the comic book character Graviton! Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Season 5 Episode 19 revealed the character quite unexpectedly in the final minutes.
That's not to say his existence was unforeseen, obviously. But how many of us guessed that Talbot would be the one to take the plunge and absorb all the gravitonium?
I confess that I'm not overly familiar with Graviton's comic book version, aside from a few broad brush strokes, but I'm reasonably concerned that this will not mean a happily-ever-after for my favorite quipping partner for Coulson.
The whole thing has the makings of a tragedy. Poor Talbot, already broken by Hydra's tortures, tries to make things right. But how long can his fractured mind contain the screaming essences of Franklin Hall and Ian Quinn?
To make matters worse, what if it turns...

Wholly unexpected flashbacks, Batman! Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Season 5 Episode 16 definitely startled me, that's for sure.
Yes, we had the gravitonium, but up until now it seemed like the writers had completely forgotten how it absorbed Dr. Franklin Hall way back in Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Season 1 Episode 3.
And that wasn't the only blast from the past in this latest installment, either!
Remember how that obnoxious businessman Ian Quinn (David Conrad) made a pain of himself working with John Garrett and Hydra and then just sort of vanished from the scene?
Related: Agents of Shield Season 1 Episode 3 Review: Committing To The Cause
Amazingly (and amusingly, if black humor is your thing), turns out the show hadn't forgotten him, either. Given that the gravitonium "asked" for Quinn, one wonders how much of Dr. Hall is still within the mass.
In the comics, Hall became the super-villain Graviton. If that is happening here,...

This week on Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., Coulson worked with unlikely allies, Daisy found a wounded bird and Yo-Yo pulled a whopper on big Mack.
First things first: As the headline suggests, I am not Ok with how and why Elena and Jemma pulled a fast (and rather dark) one on Mack, in the name of freeing Fitz. It was wrong, it was icky and it involved the betrayal of an otherwise very good man — perhaps the best man S.H.I.E.L.D. currently employs. Ever since 2008, when Marvel began merging their cinematic franchises in The Incredible Hulk, many comic characters have appeared on-screen. Some have become major players in the McU, some are just minor characters, some have been killed-off and some…have been completely forgotten. Cinelinx looks at four major Marvel villains who were introduced in the McU but have since been totally forgotten.
The Leader: In the comics, the Hulk’s arch-enemy is brainy bad-guy Samuel Sterns, Aka the Leader. Sterns was introduced into the McU in The Incredible Hulk (2008), played by Tim Blake Nelson. In the film, Bruce Banner (Edward Norton) seeks help from oddball scientist Sterns, who proves to have his own agenda. He has synthesized samples of Banner’s irradiated blood, hoping to tap into its “limitless potential”. When last we see Sterns, he gets some of the Banner-Blood into a wound on his forehead. He smiles as his head starts to grow.

(Cbr) "Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." will air its first season finale this Tuesday on ABC, thus bringing to a close the very first season of television from Marvel Studios’ very first TV series. It’s been a turbulent first season for Coulson and his crew, especially since the very status quo name-dropped in the show’s title was dismantled by "Captain America: The Winter Soldier." The ragtag team still got to go on a number of missions as agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. before Hydra revealed their master plan, and while those bad guy of the week episodes may have left critics a little critical early on, fans have pretty much unanimously praised the last few post-"Winter Soldier" episodes for taking chances, upping the stakes, and kicking the show’s spy game up a few notches. The show’s even done a solid job of...

It's back to school for Marvel's Agents of Shield this week, as a series of unusual events at the agency's sci-tech academy leads to the emergence of a potential new threat.
Appropriately enough, 'Seeds' has traces of promise but never quite blossoms. The episode boasts a number of exciting developments in the series arc and some terrific interactions between the regular characters, but an uninspiring plot-of-the-week drags proceedings down.
The team's trip to Shield academy has some positive factors - Lost actor Dylan Minnette delivers a nuanced performance as troubled teen genius Donnie Gill, while Fitzsimmons' transformation from social misfits to high school heroes is fun.
But 'Seeds' lacks a real villain - the closest we get is David Conrad's returning smarmball Ian Quinn - and that coupled with the rather cartoonish threat of the ice machine means the episode lacks both direction and menace.
Donnie's journey is also...

So Marvel has now released their first official TV series and so far it has been met with disappointment among the fan community. Now a lot of that is due to things like bad writing and story telling but my biggest complaint is that it just doesn't feel like a comic book universe brought to the small screen like Arrow does. Now we have seen comic book characters make their first appearance on this show such as Franklin Hall Aka Graviton and Victoria Hand but most of the other characters have been created for this show and I feel its such a wasted opportunity not to include more of Marvels C-d list characters. So here are five characters I would like to see make their first live action appearance on Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Ethically sketchy split-second decisions. A morally compromised but uncompromising, fearless leader. Young, vulnerable women turning out to be not so vulnerable.
Yep, it’s starting to look like a Whedon show all right, and while Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. might not quite be firing on all cylinders just yet, its third episode takes a huge step in the right direction.
The teaser starts us off in such spectacular fashion – an invisible force flipping a S.H.I.E.L.D. convoy through the air and breaking loose its cargo, one Dr. Franklin Hall – that the threat’s established enough for us to spend most of the opening fifteen minutes just hanging out with the main cast, all of whom are growing on me with each episode that goes by.
Taking front stage once more are Skye and Ward, whose relationship has gone from antagonistic to mentoring as Grant takes on a new role as supervising officer to his (snigger) ward and,...

This is pure speculation on my part, based on a pair of "Z"s in a recently released "Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." title, but are we headed for our first super-villain team-up? Potential spoilers for the series past this point:
As just announced, episode 6 of AoS will feature Titus Welliver, reprising his role as Agent Blake from the Marvel One-Shot short, "Item 47." We don't know a lot more about the episode, except it's called "Fzzt." That title alone, though, suggests a few things:
- Looks like we'll finally get a Fitz focused episode, though we imagine things aren't going so well for our little tech nerd.
- That title sure reminds us of Hulk villain Zzzax.
...Which, mind you, is a pretty tenuous connection to make, but here's more fuel for the fire: Zzzax, a being made out of pure electricity, teamed up fellow villain Graviton in the...

With ratings taking a big dip for the second episode of Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., can Agent Coulson and his team keep hold of the viewership in the latest episode; titled “The Asset”. So let us take a look at some of the references and easter eggs and I will share with you some of my own thoughts and opinions. Warning for those of you that haven’t caught the episode yet there will be some spoilers ahead. Quick Review I really enjoyed this episode, we spent more time with our three main characters (Ward, Skye, and Coulson) which allowed us to get a lot more character development out of the trio; with Clark Gregg’s character ultimately getting the best lines in the episode. The “threat of the week” aspect of the show seems to continue but I can’t complain if we get more setups for actual Marvel characters like Franklin Hall.

Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. is quickly finding its strengths and playing to them as it goes into its third episode. This is the kind of show that’s going to be filled with weird mysteries and intense action sequences. The budget of the show has been impressive and works in its favor, delivering some of network TV’s best effects. On top of the high production values, the cast are so good at being witty, letting fly their quips; I could listen to their banter for the entire hour and be quite pleased. The characters themselves are still being worked out, but I see some light at the end of this tunnel. May has finally cut the crap and reported for duty as more than just the bus driver, while Skye and Ward are building some kind of rapport. It’s seems a little too obvious the writers are trying to...

1.3 The Asset
This week, Agents of Shield finally did something I'd been hoping it would do from the start and introduced a character from the Marvel Universe into McU canon. Admittedly, it did so in a way that meant he shared almost no characteristics or qualities with his comics counterpart, but hey, they re-used the name and vaguely themed the episode around his powers. That's a step in the right direction, isn't it?
For those unaware, that character was Franklin Hall, a villain known as Graviton in Marvel's comics universe. The character had a fairly major role in this episode as the scientist Coulson's team were attempting to recover, but unfortunately that meant he...

It's still not perfect, but I'm starting to see how Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. could be sustainable as an ongoing weekly TV series. This week's "The Asset" is an improvement on last week's "0-8-4" in virtually every way. The dialogue is sharper; the effects look better; the stand-alone plot is more interesting, and the overarching story is interwoven much more cleanly into the action of the episode. "The Asset" even manages to strike a balance between its goofy, pulpy comic-book origins and the conventions of a more sustainable mainstream procedural. But most important, "The Asset" introduces a few new elements that fill in some formerly blank spots on the overall road map of what Marvel and ABC want this series to be. Let's start with Franklin Hall (Ian Hart) — better known in Marvel lore as Graviton — who has the distinction of being the first true comic book supervillain to pop...

Skye becomes a super spy, Coulson is devious and the origin story for a major Marvel villain.
Well, my fellow geeks and fanboys/girls, it seems that Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D is pretty much just what it seemed in the pilot—an actiony, spy/thriller sci fi show. For my money, if this show had come a decade ago it would rock. But in the wake of so many similar shows that demonstrated far more clever and original writing, Maos is so far kind of just average. It’s pretty clear that the great Joss Whedon has limited creative influence, which is a damn shame.
The latest episode was probably the best yet. The thing that made it a cut above the others was a greater emphasis on character development.
Things kick off with a truck hijacking. Or, to put it more correctly, it was a truck High-jacking.

Skye being the only non-shield person on Coulson’s team makes her an easy choice to tie into story plots and dig into her back story.
However, given that the show is called Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., it might be nice to rotate the character focus and included some of the actual Agents.
"The Asset" would have been the perfect time to do this, given that both Fitz and Simmons had a history with Dr. Franklin Hall. We could have gotten more of their back story, worked them into the action a little more and had some story attention for our two favorite nerds.
Alas, it didn't turn out that way. Instead, we got Ward giving Skye a crash course in hand to hand combat, more discussion about Skye’s commitment to the team and Coulson and Ward storming the beach together while Skye did her impersonation of True Lies while...

Episode 03 of Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. just finished airing and I'm really struggling to find the positives. There's nothing wrong or bad about the show per say but there's nothing exceptional either - it's kind of just existing. "Marvel's Agents of Shield" is finally hitting its stride. In its third episode, "The Asset," the ABC-Marvel series was able to focus on developing its titular agents instead of solidifying its place in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
In this episode, it was Chloe Bennet's Skye who was put front and center. Skye's role in Coulson's Shield group was still uncertain in episode 2, "0-8-4" as she showed she was still an active member of Rising Tide, but in "The Asset" she came out and said how badly she wants to join Shield.
"The Asset" was about giving Skye a choice to join an organization instead of Shield, and she ultimately chose the crime-fighting team. After the episode's villain, David Conrad as Ian Quinn, compared Shield to Big Brother, Skye quipped, "Maybe but he's a nice Big Brother who stands up for his little brother when he's eating a piece...

Marvel fans get to meet Dr. Franklin Hall a little earlier than originally expected. Ian Hart's scientist character will be introduced on "Marvel's Agents of Shield" during tonight's episode, "The Asset," but ABC has released the episode's opening scene ahead of time.
In the three-minute-long clip, the invisible enemies teased in "The Asset's" promo make their first appearance. It's already been revealed that Franklin gets kidnapped, but interestingly enough, the YouTube description of this video describes this episode as the "origin story" for a villain, so that could be a tease at the direction "The Asset" heads in.
The official synopsis for "The Asset" reads: "When the brilliant scientist Dr. Franklin Hall is kidnapped, Agent Coulson and his Shield agents must race against the clock to locate him. Skye is their only way in -- pushing the team to their limits when the entire plan turns upside-down."

But this assignment looks to be the agents of Shield's most challenging yet. Photos of the episode show Skye needing to go under cover around David Conrad's new character, while Coulson deals with Ian Hart's scientist character Dr. Franklin Hall.
A promo for the episode has also been released, and can be watched above. Though Skye goes into the mission with zeal, both Agents Grant Ward and Phil Coulson seem a bit concerned. And invisible enemies? Count us as excited as Skye.
The official synopsis for "The Asset" reads: "When the brilliant scientist Dr. Franklin Hall is kidnapped, Agent Coulson and his Shield agents must race against the clock to locate him. Skye is their...

It should come as no surprise that Marvel Entertainment's growing presence on page and screen means more time reading scripts and memos for Joe Quesada. Marvel's ever airborne Chief Creative Officer recently sat down with Comic Book Resources to discuss his newly evolved role and how his roots in comic production prepared him for the breakneck pace of a weekly television series like "Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D."
Says Quesada: "I enjoy the fact that during the course of the week—almost on a daily basis—I'm reading something that's coming from the 'Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.' writing or production crew. Sometimes it's a brief on an episode or the latest draft of a script or a rough cut of a future episode or the dailies, which come, well, daily. Whatever it is that I'm getting, there's a constant flow of 'Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.' stuff in my inbox.

"Marvel's Agents of Shield's" premiere episode has set up its central cast of six characters, so now it's time to add some secondary roles. Previously reported guest stars David Conrad and Ian Hart are slated to appear in the show's third episode, "The Asset."
ABC uploaded new images from "Agents of Shield" episodes 2 and 3, and the photos from "The Asset" reveal Hart in his scientist role and Conrad as a man Chloe Bennet's Skye is seemingly spying on. (Come on, that compact has got to be some sort of cool tech.)
Check out the new images from episodes 2 and 3 here. Though Conrad's character's name hasn't been revealed, it could be that Hart's recurring character is the "brilliant scientist Dr. Franklin Hall" who is mentioned in "The Asset's" synopsis.
The synopsis for "Marvel's Agents of Shield" episode 2, "0-8-4," reads:" Coulson and his S.H.I.E.L.D. agents travel to Peru to...

With "Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.'s" pilot and pretty impressive season one teaser still fresh in our minds, the show has released two batches of pictures to keep fans in a frenzy over all things S.H.I.E.L.D.
Pictures from episodes two and three of the series, titled "0-8-4" and "The Asset" respectively, have been made public, and they show that "S.H.I.E.L.D.'s" world is about to get a lot more turbulent. Literally. You can check out a selection of photos after the jump!
The rest of the pics from "0-8-4" show our agents trying to fend off some guests, all while avoiding getting sucked out of the plane (casually referred to as "The Bus").
Things are a little quieter in the pics from "The Asset," since there doesn't seem to be a threat of getting sucked out of a giant airplane mid-flight.

Skye is their only way in--pushing the team to their limits when the entire plan turns upside-down" Dr. Franklin Hall, in the comics at least, was actually the supervillain 'Graviton'! After am experiment caused graviton particles to merge with his own molecules, Hall later discovered that he could mentally control gravity. He eventually turns to crime, donning a costume and adopting the above alias. Will this version of the character follow suit? Well, I reckon this accident awaits him right at the end of the ep, perhaps setting up an appearance from Graviton later on on the series. Could this be the character Ian Hart will play? We know it's a scientist!
