Showtime's developing a drama series based on "The Angry Buddhist," an upcoming novel from Seth Greenland, according to Deadline. Greenland, a novelist and screenwriter (responsible for the 1993 Ted Demme-directed "Yo! MTV Raps" VJ-starring comedy "Who's the Man?") as well as a playwright, has also written for "Arli$$" and "Big Love," and will write the adaptation. Here's the publisher's description of the novel (which you'll note has a blurb from Larry David on the cover): Seth Greenland’s timely new novel is set in the high California desert between the trailer parks and amphetamine labs of Desert Hot Springs and the classic mid-century architecture of Palm Springs. In this sun-blasted territory, with its equally arid social culture, a fiercely contested congressional election is in progress. The wily incumbent, Randall Duke, is unburdened by ethical considerations. His...

"Hold tight." While the walls have been closing in on the Henricksons for some time now (really, almost since the start of the series), the stakes have never been higher for the polygamist family, beset from all sides. It's impossible not to feel that the endgame is finally here as the countdown to the series finale begins. (Are there really just two episodes left?) On this week's episode of Big Love ("The Noose Tightens"), written by Seth Greenland and directed by David Knoller, the noose certainly did tighten around the family's collective neck, as law enforcement officials closed in on Bill and Barb, Margene took a stand against just about everyone, and Nicki came face to face with the madness that has overtaken her brother Alby. In a series that's been overflowing with twists and turns, this week's installment might rank up there with some of the craziest, most jaw-dropping episodes to date,...

"You are on the wrong path, brother." - Joey Last night's episode of Big Love ("Sins of the Father"), written by Seth Greenland and directed by David Petrarca, focused squarely on the choices made by Bill Henrickson, both in the present-day as it related to his decision to exile Ben and in his own distant past. The people we are today are forged by the choices we make in our lives and by those made for us by others. Bill's formative years were shaped by Frank's decision to throw him out by the side of the road and force him to fend for himself on the streets, one of the so-called Lost Boys, the detritus of a polygamist society that had been corrupted and run on fear and jealousy. Bill has long since sought to find a different path for himself in life, one that included following a belief in...

He is co-writing the script with "Arli$$" alum Seth Greenland.
Wuhl also is attached to direct and executive produce; Greenland would serve as co-executive producer. Sam Hansen will oversee the project for Mosaic Media.
