If there is one thing we learned from Snoopy, World War I Flying Ace and his arch nemesis, Manfred von Richthofen, the Red Baron, it is that Dog Fights can be fun. Sure, Tom Cruise and Val Kilmer made them cool in Top Gun, but Charlie Brown’s pet beagle made Dog Fights famous (no pun intended). Ace Combat: Assault Horizon redesigns the treacherous lifestyle of combat pilots into a Need for Speed experience. This game hides fast and furious pilot action behind a realistic Call of Duty exterior. Assault Horizon is not really about the realism so much as it is about the thrill of getting inside the cockpit and being one bad you know what. While it may alienate hardcore Ace Combat and flight sim fans with its ease of gameplay, Assault Horizon will garner a broader fan base thanks to its loose controls and rewarding action. The...

Paths of Hate Short Film. Damian Nenow‘s Paths of Hate (2010) short film’s plot synopsis: “A grey clouded sky is the setting for an ultimate combat. Two planes cut through the winter air, fly in breathtaking high-speed, reckless maneuvers above the snow- covered mountains and icy lakes. Two pilots, driven by blind fury, chase each other and thereby write cryptic messages of madness into the firmament. The eyes of the terrible rivals reflect unquestioning hate. They are ready to cross all limits of aggression. On their way into the abyss they transform into inhuman and distorted creatures, that finally become part of the history of hate.
The dimension of fighting is irrelevant, as well as the ideology behind it. It does not matter whether two people are involved or millions. What remains are only scars – bloody traces, paths of hate.”
This is an incredibly well-done animated short film. Extremely impressive.

Red Tails Trailer. Anthony Hemingway‘s Red Tails (2012) movie trailer stars Terrence Howard, Bryan Cranston, Cuba Gooding Jr., Daniela Ruah, and Michael B. Jordan. Red Tails‘ plot synopsis: “The story of the Tuskegee Airmen, the first African-American pilots to fly in a combat squadron during World War II.”
When I saw this film trailer, I immediately thought of Red Baron, which we reviewed here: The Red Baron / Der rote Baron (2008) Movie Review and the great aerial battle scenes and deaths within that film. Red Tails is stacked with great talent including Terrence Howard, Cuba Gooding Jr., and Bryan Cranston.
Red Tails also stars Ne-Yo, Lee Tergesen, Aml Ameen, Andre Royo, Tristan Wilds, Gerald McRaney, Josh Dallas, Method Man, David Oyelowo, and Robert Kazinsky.

This week, we open on Whitney and Sara, still in bed, still naked, and still going at it. They compare themselves to those other star-cross'd lovers, Romeo and Juliet, although I suspect Sara thinks a Capulet is something you take for a hangover.
Whitney says, "It's like I'm sneaking out on one family to go yon window breaks to the other."
I don't remember Juliet wearing heels and a thong, do you?
After they find the motivation to get vertical and go outside, Whitney and Sara check out that other hotbed of lesbian activity: a dog park. Across an expanse of poop and soggy tennis balls, is Whitney's ex and current houseguest, Rachel, who's also out for her morning constitution. She spies the two of them and puts it together; they've been hooking up. This park suddenly has two bitches, too many.
Rachel leaves without confronting Whitney. Clearly, no one...
