Through the Eye of the Needle--The Art of Esther Nisenthal Krinitz
In 1942, at 15, Esther Nisenthal Krinitz defied Nazi orders and fled, with her parents' blessing and her younger sister in tow, rather than report to the train station with the other Jews of her Polish village. She and her sister hid in plain sight of the Nazis for the rest of the war, under assumed identities, never to see their family again. Decades later, haunted by memories, Krinitz turned to needle and thread to share scenes both tender and tragic. This short film beautifully captures the pain of Krinitz's story, the love and hope she held onto, and the incredible artistry of her fabric depictions of her experiences.
