THE MASTER OF THE CARRIAGE
The story, a metaphoric description of the human inner condition, begins when a nineteenth century carriage stops at the main square of an unknown city. The carriage driver opens the door, expecting to find his master, but a crowd of strangers steps out.The driver, upset and confused, seeks help from other carriage drivers... The first one will tell him that the master of the world today is Money. The second driver has 2 masters, a couple, Mister Self-love and Madam Vanity. A third driver reads a lot and will offer him a book called 'The Master of the Carriage' Our hero will discover that he is part of a very ancient allegory, the allegory of man compared to a carriage:the carriage stands for the body, the horse represents the feelings, the emotions, and the driver represents the mind. The whole question is WHO is the master. Our hero begins to understand the meaning of all these strangers that stepped out of his carriage at the begining: they represent these small mastersthat take the place of the real master , who is the only one to know the aim of life's journey. Our cabby begins to understand as well as the viewer, that the master he is seeking is more a symbol of the divine part that lies in every one of us.Thus begins a series of mythic adventures, where his quest can be understood at many different levels, very simple but also symbolical of a much greater meaning.
