Nope, I don't think so
10 June 2006
I'll start with what I liked.

I really liked the songs, everything about them was great, the costumes, music, lyrics (as long as the translation was good :) ), choreography, everything.

I loved the crab scene and the cooking scene.

But that's about it.

I get it, arty cinema, blablabla, but too much is too much. Too much silence (it was interesting for an hour, but two hours of hearing steps and moaning from time to time, really...), too much boredom (no movie should ever be boring, no matter how deep it was to be!), too much porn-like scenes (I do get it really, I get that they were filming a porn movie there, but really, REALLY, really that is too much) I truly think, that cinema should be for watching and this one is definitely not watchable in no way.

3 stars for the songs.

Hi Way (2006)

for fans and only for them

i was delighted i absolutely loved It i enjoyed every little moment of it

but i'm sure that's not for everybody

some may even get bored, some may be irritated- these are people i do not understand personally - i could not stop laughing throughout the whole 85 minutes (and later on) although it was not a giggle, more of a smile and hem... satisfaction even? i guess it's gonna be an ever-green for some and a total disaster for the ungraceful rest ;)

is it worth to write 'bout it in English? ;)

whatever - the tag line is absolutely true - you gotta see it two to three times

Wow
23 April 2006
Obviously this film is not even B class; to be honest, I don't think there are enough letters even in Devanagari to explain it's class.

Yet, it is absolutely fantastic. A must-see for a Bollywood fan, an absolute-must-see for a SRK fan.

Personally I just love SRK's roles as villains, those faces he makes... ahhh...

The story in this movie will keep you on the edge of your seat till the very end (just as it says at on the back of the DVD;) ) Madhuri is stunningly beautiful even after her, how to call it..., rebirth ;) (exept one tiny scene - the arm-teeth scene i'd call it, not to write a spoiler, which is also rather surprising) There are some fine songs (the one on the airport and the one on the wheel-chair) but the most important quality of this movie is that it's so surprising all the way.

Plus the obsessive love motive is always great to watch.

10/10 for sure (in it's category of course)

Funny and enjoyable, say what you want
23 April 2006
It is funny, it is a comedy, isn't it? It is highly enjoyable.

It has great songs and great dance (SRK in a silver T-shirt hitting Juhi against his chest - the best moment in Bollywood ever)

It has some wonderful (comedy-type, Bollywood-style - never forget this judging this one) acting

It features SRK and Juhi together - such a wonderful pair.

And it has one more fantastic quality: Shahrukh definitely looks his best - he's still young, yet not so teen-age-like anymore, you can see his wonderful dark skin (which was whitened more and more in the movies as he became such a huge star later on) and as he carries two totally different roles - he makes the full range of his cute and angry eyes.

10/10, no further questions

I love this m-m-m-movie!
23 April 2006
I generally love SRK as a villain (how can you not?) and I believe that SRK and Juhi are a perfect match on screen as they both are actually more nice than pretty.

This movie is great to watch, although it has some major flaws:

1) the good guy (Sunny) - not only he's so much less attractive than Shahrukh(what in my opinion is soooooo important in Bollyfilms) but his role lacks character - it would be much better if there was a conflict between two strong personalities, instead we have a conflict between a personality and an average soldier

2) Kiran's and Sunil's reactions for Rahul's actions are unbelievably silly and naive even for a Bollywood production

But all this is not that important in comparison with the wonderful melodramatic atmosphere, great songs (really truly great)and (let's say it again) Shahrukh as a villain, I just love him when he's so pagal

A must-see (along with Anjaam, Baazigar and Duplicate)

Noy even Aishwarya can save this movie
20 March 2006
Warning: Spoilers
I was really surprised just how bad this movie was. I find Abhishek Bachchan rather charming and Aishwarya is obviously divine, so I expected quite an entertainment. Unfortunately I only got bored. The story is rather regular but lacks of charm and character.

The only sensible moment is when Raj fells for Namrata, cause who would not fell for Ash? Her beauty covers for her lack of acting skills (or at least an idea of how to make Namrata interesting) perfectly, unfortunately Abhishek is not that successful. There are a few rather embarrassingly long close-ups of him making some ridiculously 'serious' face. And was it only me or did he put on some weight?

The actions of characters make no sense. When she says she's not going to be with him, it comes out of nowhere. When she says she loves him - it's even more out of place.

The worst part of the film is the relationship between Namrata and her husband. She knows she hates the guy, she knows she is a modern woman not caring about tradition yet she lets him treat herself as if she's his belonging for an entire day. And when the guy finally agrees to leave her alone - well the ending is just horribly stupid. Why did he do this then? Nothing has changed between the moment he's sure to stay and when he decides to leave. It seems to be some bizarre BollyDeusExMachina... ;)

The comedy parts (the other family, the teacher and the bird guy) are too bad to comment on them. They just come out of nowhere and do not add any qualities to the film.

Aishwarya wears some rather ugly clothes all the time which is even worse considering the fact that she plays a designer...

And what's up with the synopsis in the middle? I'd get it if it was of the entire relationship between Namrata and Raj but it's like showing be the same 15 minutes of the movie twice. Rather irritating.

The only good things are two songs: 'Mujhe tum chupke chupke' and 'Kuch naa kaho'. Unfortunately they are ruined by truly stupid choreography. So if you decide to watch this movie do not look at the screen during those two songs - only this'll allow you to appreciate them.

oh! And do not take me wrong: I gave the movie 3 not 1 just because Ash is there.
