"I look more like me granny Dowling..."
13 June 2021
Warning: Spoilers
Living in the west of Ireland it's great to see an Irish slant on American Pickers. The kind of items the lads are looking at would be far more familiar to me than those picked by their American counterparts. Both of the lads come across as natural and outgoing. At one point, in an antique shop in Charlestown, the host Ian Dowling tries on a fur coat declaring that he looked like his granny but, to be honest, he was the spit of Marc Bolan!

The only thing I don't understand is, why were they using subtitles every time John, the antique dealer in Charlestown, spoke?

Apart from that, an enjoyable and interesting show. I'm looking forward to the rest of the series.

It's the pilot, give it a chance.

I find it baffling how many haters there are on here, but what I find really baffling are the amount of "reviewers" who couldn't take the time to make it allllll the way to the end of a thirty minute show but could take the time after just fifteen minutes of viewing to vent their spleens on IMDB.

For those who claim they didn't laugh once, was it the absence of a laugh track not there to prompt your mirth that you found off-putting?

Oh, and for those of you surprised to see such a serious actor as Hugh Laurie star in such light comedy clearly have not the first clue about his career prior to House.

Ignore the haters, the un-prompted mirthless and the reviewers with the attention span of a goldfish and give the show a chance.

Exhausting!

In fairness, the production values are very high and the acting well above par. However, watching the characters being relentlessly flung from one fraught and unlucky situation to another for almost the entire episode is, quite frankly, exhausting.
