All the Light We Cannot See (2023)
Mixed Thoughts on Series
The movie was beautifully shot and plot was creative. One must use your imagination to plunge yourself into the story, no doubt. The acting was excellent with one very important exception due to his relevant role, Mark Ruffalo. His performance lacked so much. One has to wonder why he was selected for the role of Marie-Laure's father. His accent, his facial expressions, well, basically, his acting made his character shallow and unbelievable. He just didn't fit side by side with the excellent performances by first-timer Aria Mia Loberti, and that with Hugh Laurie, and Louis Hofmann. I find that good actors tend to complement others but not in this movie. I found Ruffalo made some scenes awkward, thus making it difficult to immerse yourself into the story. Ruffalo became my distraction. I believe it was my first film with Hofmann. I was very impressed with his acting and of course, Laurie never disappoints. All in all the series kept you watching until the end. And it also peaked my interest of the true historical details of Saint Malo during WWII. But in the end, after watching I had mixed thoughts as to whether the movie was good enough to recommend.
Run, Hide, Fight (2020)
Doesn't Disappoint
Good plot, great acting, well put together, and just the right balance of dialogue and action. Because of the acting and writing, the characters were believable and relatable. Even the heroine, Zoe, well-acted, was realistic. Just goes to show a movie can be highly entertaining and still have a strong morale message. We need more movies like Run Hide Fight.
