The Breaking Point (2014)
Wooden actors with a bad script
This movie came up in a search for 8.0 or higher rated movies, but obviously associates of the director and his mother have left the three reviews so far. The acting is poor and script isn't doing them any favors. The movie as a whole is unintentionally funny. The scenes and exchanges that are supposed to be tense are completely devoid of drama - the actors deliver lines as if it's their first time seeing the script. The video quality is such that it appears to have been recorded on someone's phone. I'll give them credit for multiple takes and camera angles in a single scene, but that's really the only attention to detail evident in this production.
The Haunting of Bly Manor (2020)
You had me and then you lost me
The series began with some intrigue but quickly devolved into 60-minute parcels of tedium. The narrated sequences are ponderous. My will to live is slowly draining as I endure episode eight. The children are delightfully creepy. All that remains is to see how much therapy they will need when they realize they earned these parts for being the creepiest ones at the auditions.
