Thor: Love and Thunder (2022)
Dinky
Some of it was funny. None of it was very good. Whole show can be descriptive as dinky, ie - wierd, funny in a secondhand-embarrassment sorta way, and overall not just very good.
Thor was turned into a complete idiot for comedys sake here, but that made everything else he did seem shallow, so none of the stakes had any meaning. "AH, the genocide of the gods, the children, the girl, oh no!" does not mean anything when Thor spends half the movie in a lovers spat with his pointlessly sentient ax. Were drugs involved in the writing here? I smell weed on this script.
Christian Bales acting was easily the best part of the whole movie, so I got to give him props for doing so well on this shipwreck.
I think it might be time for Thor to turn in the cape honestly. Hemsworth and Watiti did great in Ragnarok, but this makes Dark World look pretty good plot wise, which is just....disappointing, really.
Altered Carbon: Broken Angels (2020)
I Cheered!
I love this series! Anthony Mackie was great. All the other characters were just as awesome. The only one who didn't fit was Konrad. His face just took my back to the CW Arrowverse every time. But oh well. He was a pretty minor character in terms of acting. At the end I thought, "Welp, our Kovatch died. I'm done." Figured Netflix just wanted out of the series and hit the easy button. And then he lived! I was in my seat cheering! Love this show, love these characters, and will be back day one for more every single time. Only things I would change? Bring back the gritty feel of what this show was in Season 1. Its still great without a doubt, but people loved the dark, "Look what happens when people live to long," concept. Bring that back, even just in small doses. And show us some more Elders!
Carnival Row (2019)
Amazing, and to those who don't like the "politics"...
This show is visually stunning. The acting is great. And without a doubt, I'll be back for season 2. But for those who think the show is "to political," really need to reevaluate their morals if they think racism has something to do with politics. Your either decent or your not, and if your "politics" are so indecent that you would be the bad guys in this show, your living your life wrong.
Pandora (2019)
They should have made it a book instead....
Honestly, I gave the show the benefit of the doubt. It started weird, and I though, "Well, maybe it gets better and they just want to catapult to the really good stuff." I quickly found out that there was no good stuff, and spent most of the show watching my phone instead. The story relies on inference, which sucks, since essentially the viewer is told that two very important characters just died, without building any emotional connection with said characters, or even being told why who they were and how they died were so important. In fact, nothing in the story is actually well explained except with awkward dialogue between characters. The actors you can tell are really trying their best, but they seem to either lack a connection to the story or have no real inspiration behind the scenes to bring their performances home. CGI and SFX are sub par at their best of moments. Really, I'm surprised this show was allowed to kick itself off the way it did; more surprised though that it was a CW show, which has really moved in a great direction lately. All in all, I give it a 4, because mainly I hope that something in this series can be quickly fixed and turn things around, and because I'm bored. If things continue the way it is though, than the CW can turn the show into maybe a YA book series and get some money back.
Rim of the World (2019)
What is this???
Great graphics and semi-interesting plot. But dialogue is the cheesiest crap I have ever seen come out of Netflix. I'm honestly surprised someone made this. If your bored out of your mind then...Actually no. You'd have more entertainment cloud watching then watching this show.
Designated Survivor (2016)
Great Show!
Amazing show with a great plot! It's no game of thrones but the acting and storytelling are very enjoyable! Sad to see that some users dislike it for being "leftist propaganda". Not sure where they are getting that from. Maybe because he tries to not kill everyone and stands up for peoples fundamental rights. Hmm....
Excited to watch season 2 and glad Netflix is bringing it back for a 3rd run!
The Order (2019)
Room for Improvement
The show was good, but it definitely has room to be great. I found the pilot to be engaging, and it successfully piqued my interest in the show that kept me watching through the whole season. However, when the show raised my questions of important topics, it usually only answered them with 'blink and you'll miss it' dialogue at best and no answer at all at worse. With relations to its plot, the show seemed to never have a set tone at any point; often jumping from wacky teen adventure straight to blood sacrifices all in a second with no tie in or reason. And it's character seemed to get the blunt end of the shtick, as many of them went from stuck up socialite to blood thirsty inquisitor, intelligent upperclassman to "Edward is a good dude lets trust him", or would even take great characters and kill them off for no real reason (this is especially true for the civics teacher, who had more character depth then the whole cast).
Luckily for the show however, most of these things can be fixed easily with a season 2. Unluckily, though, is I'm not to sure the will be able to get a season 2.
Legacies (2018)
Great for Everyone
At first glance, this show seems to just be another angsty teen drama; Just another spin-off of the The Vampire Diaries (which is the world Legacies is set in). But if anyone would feel unsure this show lacks and luster, they would be very wrong. Legacies, unlike many shows, doesn't try to focus on easy, and often cliched, plot lines, but instead aims higher. It introduces a wide variety of characters, and though it seems each is exactly what you expect, you will be very wrong in just a couple episodes. No matter what, if anyone thinks that this show has even a chance of being enjoyable, then the will enjoy it. All in all, amazing show!
