Channel Zero (2016)
Cool initial buildup but garbage writing. Just read the original creepypastas.
How this got so many positive reviews is baffling. Then again, things like the exorcist are top-rated 'masterpiece' to plenty. Almost everything, from the writing, cinematorgraphy, characters, acting etc were either subpar or bad. It took what was the essense of creepypasta, added unneccessary plot points that weren't fully fleshed out and dragged it 4-6x longer than it needed to be.
It's a good thing this show's cancelled. Season 1 was alright and it went downhill from there. Fourth season's finale was easily the worst.
The Legend of Korra (2012)
Definitely not an 8.6/10.
5/10. Watchable due to the crazy good animation and art but the writing is awful. It's decent in the first season but are terrible in the rest. Character development is almost non-existent. With the exception of Asami that becomes largely sidelined past season 1, the other 3 characters in Team Avatar are one dimensional pricks.
The second main gripe I have with this is how there're too many deus ex machina moments or things just being conveniient. Falling off cliffs from heights and surviving multiple times, a sudden surge of power after being beaten, a guy that walks into lava and somehow being able to bend it without knowing that he could bend lava to begin with, the entire team of police force/chief who for some reason becomes oblivious to everything around mid-season etc.
There are a few of such moments in The Last Airbender (the season finale and bloodbending to name some) but there're countless in TLoK.
Monster (2004)
Masterpiece of storytelling albeit it's minor plotholes.
Not going to go into detail like the other reviews since not many that hasn't watched the show reads them. Looking at the reviews in general, you'ld see that it's divided into 2 extremes. People that absolutely love it and people that don't appreciate good storytelling.
The show is extremely slow but none of the episodes (well, maybe 3 were filler-like) were a waste of time. Anyone that thought 74 episodes had no plot progression doesn't understand the point of the journey.
It's not a show for everyone, if you only seek andrenaline from action packed things or constant 'mind-games' like in death note, this probably isn't for you. If you only like things that give you 'the feels' or lovey-dovey romanctic films expecting a perfect ending, this isn't for you.
The operative words being 'only' and 'probably', not saying that everyone that watches those fall into the same catergory. (probably going to get backlash because many people only read what they like)
There are minor plotholes or rather, things which are pretty unbelievable unless you have a pretty high suspension of disbelieve but if you look part those, it's a darn perfect thriller. That's about it.
