Another excellent filmof Cacoyiannis Brilliant

Another film from filmmaker KAkKOGIANNIS He brought the Greek Cinema up from being mediocre and i have seen this film many times even when i was only 18 years old and ii have never forgotten it. This film was nominated for awards as was his other films He was a genius at his craft. The players are excellent not to mention the great singer Sofia Vembo who does sing two songs in the picture It is two bad that she only made just three films. She deserves much more credit than she gets here. Her recordings are heard on the 28th of October of each year which is a national holiday in Greece OXI day against the fascists who tried to conquer Greece. She made many recordings and her memory will endure forever. Again i recommend this film very highly.

This film is one of the best of The Greek Cinema People don't realize that this is one of the best films to come of Greece. The other is Stellla. I have seen this and other films of Cacayiannis and they the critics should give him the credit he really deserves.

This is a great film a must for Greeks and for people who enjoy good works from a master filmmaker. Again I urge people who love good storytelling to see this film as i have watched it many times and never get sick of seeing it It won reviews and awards at the Cannes film festivals and it won the Golden Globe award here in the United States. It should have won more awards. It deserves the best as it is a compelling story. I urge all to see this film as it does have English subtitles.In summary i would say do not miss seeing this film I love it.

Excellent movie in Greek

I have seen this movie and it is excellent for its time. Sofia Vembo is great and the songs are excellent. It is to bad she made only three movies because she should have made more.Consider this movie as one of the best Greece has to offer. Another being Stella by Kakoyiannis. This should be made available to all who ask for it on DVD. I saw this movie when I was in my teens here in Boston Mass. We were lucky in that the man who brought the Greek movies here to Boston made me improve my Greek to become fluent in the language one of the hardest in world to learn.The Songs that Sofia Vembo sings are terrific.The voice that she had you can not find in today's singers and she was a one of a kind person.
